Ford's History Of Special Treatment Did Not Start With Joseph Lee

City Councilman Edmund Ford's special treatment concerning his MLG&W bill may stop under the tenure of President Joseph Lee, But it started under the tenure of Herman Morris. In a media packet provided by MLG&W it contains copies of Ford's bill starting in August of 2001.

Looking at Ford's bill it proves that the "Third Party Notice" was in affect and that Ford was a part of that program,It also proves that the same person to be notified concerning the bills, is the same person on that now famous list that was released last week that council members state they knew nothing of. Yes, in 2001 on Ford's many "cut off" notices Kenneth Cole is the person to be notified. So it appears that Lee continued a program of special treatment that was already in place.

Ford who lives in Whitehaven at 917 Summer Shade Lane,Had a bill of $3,053.41 which implies to me that he was already behind months on his utility bill. There is no way that his bill for one month would be that large. In fact the current bill for that month shows that his electricity was $462.61 and his water was $164,78. Even though the "Cut Off" notice bears his name and gives him a deadline to pay the portion of the bill to be returned to MLG&W with a payment reads: Kenneth O.Cole/MLGW PO BOX 430 Memphis Tn 38103.

It appears from looking at Ford's bills that he paid MLG&W when he got ready without ever being disconnected. In fact as of May of that same year he had a balance of $4,548.76 an had not paid his bill since February of 2001. How was he able to get away with not being disconnected? In Dec of 2001 he had another "Cut Off" for $2,676.28 even though his last day to pay was Dec 10,2001 he was allowed to not be disconnected and paid $1,000.00 on Jan 7,2002,Why wasn't he disconnected?

In March of 2002 he had another "Cut Off" for $1,343.19 with a deadline to pay of March 15, But Ford did not pay and was not disconnected. In fact notes show that on March 20,2002 Curtis Dillihunt gave Ford the Okay to pay $700.00. To give you the details of every bill of Edmund Ford's home account would take the rest of the day to post. Ford receives basically every month a "Cut Off" notice and has been allowed unlike the average citizen to pay when he chooses. In fact on one notice a worker asks "Should we just extend anyway?

It is certain that Ford has received special treatment and that Joseph Lee is wrong for allowing this injustice to take place,But I must ask was he following a policy that was already in place to protect poli-trick-ans and power brokers.

911 in Shelby County Ain't Worth A Damn

This evening I was driving through the South Memphis area,Near Philsar and Lauderdale when I noticed a black male firing a automatic weapon several times,In fact after firing he kept walking with the hand gun in his hand. As I drove up to see what was going on I dialed 911. It took at least 5 minutes to get a person on the line,After getting someone to answer I told the person on the other end that there was a shooter in the Apartments at Philsar and Lauderdale.

The 911 staff person wanted to know how I knew that the person was a shooter,Duh, "He has a gun and he's shooting" I replied. She wanted a full description, which I gave since by now I was maybe 10 ft away from the shooter. She wanted to know my name and where I was located,Which I gave. Then she wanted to know the name of the apartments, I told her I didn't know the name but I'm on Philsar watching the shooter run into an apartment which I gave the address.

Needless to say this conversation took another 5-8minutes while a person with a gun was running loose without the police being dispatched. Finally she told me that police were on the way. I waited 15 minutes with no police arriving on the scene. After I left and had been gone another 15 minutes,I get a call from the 911 staff person who wants to know where I am, I told her I was gone and wondering why no police had been sent to a location where a person was firing a gun. Where she simply replied that she had more calls than mine..

What if someone had been killed? Is this is the best that the citizens of Shelby County can expect?

Herman Morris For Mayor, I Don't Think So

Former President of MLG&W Herman Morris is set to announce today (Wednesday) that he plans to run for Mayor of Memphis. But it is my opinion that the news that it was he that created a list to protect not only poli-trick-ans but rich power brokers as well from cut offs has destroyed what ever chances he had.

Records released by MLG&W shows that Morris wanted to be personally notified anytime "Friends and power brokers had not paid their bill. In an internal e-mail dated March 29,2002, Morris instructed employees Mark Hereberger, and Curtis Dillihunt to e-mail him or messaged him whenever such a person called.

In reading the memo that seems to have been started to protect the editor of the CA, and to make sure that the morning paper never took a negative stance on MLG&W. It appears that Morris is the culprit in making sure that some customers of MLG&W are treated differently that the average customer. I think that after you read the memo that was sent by Morris that you will agree that Morris should not announce that he will be running for mayor or anything else. In fact after reading the memo you will probably agree that in the words of the immortal Jaye Michael Davis of WDIA Morris should say "COME GET ME MOTHER, I AM THROUGH"THIS IS THE MEMO:

I have recently received several notes and calls from friends,neighbors and notable individuals and customers, who say that they have not been able to get thru or assistance from the call center. Most probably don't identify themselves when they call but our system should be able to do the caller ID alert and tip our people off to who they are dealing with. I would appreciate being e mailed or messeged when we get such a customer call.

Secondly, I have received a handwritten note from the editor of the CA, enclosed with a letter of complaint from his wife,requesting my help in a high bill matter.They complain of getting nowhere with the regular chain of command. it appears that we replaced a meter and discovered that we were not billing them the correct amount for their home with a heated swimming pool. Their bill appear to be out of line with those of their neighbors. the bill could be off by as much as five years. This could set Editorial Policy toward MLGW for years and must be handled with touch. I tried to call him Thursday but he was not in. I will be out of town 4/1/02 but will call him when i return on Tuesday. I would like you to get involved and make sure that we handle this matter with sensitivity.

Finally,I need to develop a list of customers that require my personal awareness,attention or staff intervention when they have problems. Generally, customers who can call me,or the Mayor at home should be on the list. Is It Time For Joe To Go?

MLG&W President Joseph Lee says that he is sorry for his role in allowing City Councilman Edmund Ford to get away with not paying his bill for several years. Is it time for Joe to go? Should Herenton fire Lee? Should the council push for the replacements of Lee? Should Ford be allowed 30 more days to pay or should he be disconnected now? Will the MLG&W scandal cause Herenton his re-election?

Memphis Light Gas And Robbery Must Be Stopped

Today as I met Omari Fleming of channel 5 at the Lamar office for MLG&W on Lamar people ran up to him wanting to tell him about how they are being mistreated by the utility company. One woman was about to be cut offed for S67.00 she was told either to pay or be disconnected.

This is just an example of what is going on within a company that citizens of Memphis and Shelby own. Another woman was concerned that the workers have no compassion, her husband had had two strokes and had also had brain surgery and she needed some time to pay her bill. No dice, she was told that she would have to pay $350 on a $900.00 bill are be disconnected.

Another women was concerned that her 81 year old mother who lives along had a bill for $ 501.00. The elderly woman is just blessed to have children that would help her with her bill this is why a Class Action Lawsuit is about to be filed. MLG&W is out of control and something must be done to protect the citizens of this company from "Memphis Light Gas and Robbery".

Ed Needs Your Help To Keep His Lights On

Mayor Willie Herenton has told MLG&W that City Councilman Edmund Ford's MLG&W bill must be paid in 30 days or cut him off. Even though this statement was made today in a letter sent to the board of the utility company, the arrangements were made last week for ford to close out this bill in a 30 day period.

It's uncertain what he really owes, but he needs your help. As a Undertaker his money is made off the dead. So I'm sure Ed would appreciate whatever you can do to help his business, so whatever you find dead make sure you send it to Ed,Every little bit will help.

Class Action Lawsuit Planned For MLG&W

The citizens of Shelby county must be protected from the unfair cut off practices of MLG&W. It's totally wrong for there to be given special treatment to poli-trick-ans while the poor and moderate income of this county have to decide in some cases whether to buy groceries or pay a utility bill.

It's totally unfair for City Councilman Edmund Ford to be thousands behind while the poor is cut off for just being a few hundred dollars behind. I am proposing that a Class Action Lawsuit be filed against MLG&W asking a judge to restrain the company from doing ANY cut offs until the company creates and puts in place a way of enforcement that will treat all customers the same. No I am not saying not to pay your bill, But i am saying that the company should treat all clients equally,and since as has be shown until they do those who can't afford to pay shouldn't be disconnected until the process is changed.

I have asked Attorney Javier Bailey to file the lawsuit in behalf of those who have been cut off while poli-trick-ans have been given special treatment in violation of their own rules. Bailey has agreed and we are seeking out those who would like to be a part of this lawsuit. I have requested from MLG&W a list of all those who have been disconnected in the last 30 days along with the amounts that they were cut off for. I have also requested the list of all customers who are over $5,000.00 behind and have not paid in at least 30 days but still have their power on, which i hear is in the several thousands.

No More Tips For 5

Over the past several years I have been a news source for ACTION NEWS 5 giving them information that many times were used as lead stories. I often receive calls from their reporters needing info on some political issue that they can't get the info on. In fact like most medias in the city they use this blog as a news source. For instance the story that the station did today on Congressman Steve Cohen and the resolution that he's planning to introduce on Tuesday asking the government to apologize for slavery. How do I know they got it here,Because this was the only place that it was carried.

So I was surprise tonight when I received a call from one of their reporters telling me that the station was cutting me out of a story that I gave them today that's my concept. This morning over coffee the idea came to me that the only way to protect the citizens of Shelby County from MLG&W was to file a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT restraining the utility company from any cut offs until the rules are laid out so that all customers of the company are treated fairly.

I gave Attorney Javier Bailey a call and as I expected he was in agreement with me that something has to be done to protect those of us who are not lucky enough to be on a list of those not to be connected. We planned to go public with the story by Friday. I called reporter Andrew Douglas of ACTION NEWS 5 and told him about the idea and that I needed to acquire some info from MLG&W before going public.

Douglas made several calls after our first conversation telling me that the station wanted to do the story today, I again told him that the idea had just come to me this morning and Bailey and I had not worked out all the kinks,But he insisted. So I told him that I would try to put something together for him, He asked that i meet him for a interview,I agreed to meet him at 4:30 outside of MLG&W since I had to request info from the company. I gave an interview and called Javier so that he could also be interviewed. This was done because of the relationship that I thought I had with the station. In the past my info was given to Daryl Phillips who was someone that I trusted with the info I gave. But since I can no longer trust the word of the news department of this station, I will no longer supply them with any tips.

The issue is respect, I don't ask to be mention in stories that I give the station, like the one they did last week on developer William H. Thomas Jr, Or the Beale street Story which spoke about the Beale Street Development Corp. But I did expect a mention in a story I gave that about a concept that's my idea, especially when I go out of my way to provide that story before time.

I have heard that the station looks at me as competition and does not want to call my name or show my face because that promotes this site. The station has every right to produce news the way they see fit, But they should have their own sources for the information that they need. They have every right not to promote me or this site, But by the same token they shouldn't need a blogger to supply a large news organization like there's with tips,leads,and contacts. I'm glad that I was able to provide them with their lead story tonight, And there's no hard feelings, But this ends my tipping days I'll keep all my information for myself and my readers, But then they are my readers aren't day?

Thousands Over 30 Days Past Due With Balance Of $5,000 With MLGW

Sources within MLG&W state that there are several thousand residential and commercial customers with balances of $5,000 or more that's at least 30 days pass due. How does that happen for some while others are disconnected?

Cohen To Introduce A Bill Asking The U.S. Government to Apologize For Slavery And Jim Crow Laws

On Tuesday freshman Congressman Steve Cohen will rock the very walls of the chamber of the U.S.Representatives as he submits a resolution asking the United States Government to apologize for slavery and Jim Crow laws. Congressman Cohen made this announcement this afternoon(Sunday) at the Lambert Church of God In Christ,As the Afro American Police Association held its annual Black History Program.

The announcement received a standing ovation from the packed church Pastored by Elder Charles Moore whose a Major in the City of Memphis Police Department. Among those who praised Cohen who also gave a proclamation to the Afro American Police Association were Deputy Director of Police Earnest Dobbins, Deputy Chief Janet Pilot, Major Johhnie Currin, and a host of African American Police officers and those who were present to celebrate Black History month.

Prior to taking the pulpit to make this historic announcement Cohen was moved by the performance of YO MEMPHIS who in song and dance portrayed the ugliness of slavery in America. Cohen expects the Congressional Black Causus to be co-sponsors of the resolution.

Its past time for this country who boasts of being the greatest nation in the world to say "It's sorry" for the mistreatment of blacks in this country. Those who were the very oppressed are the reason that this country is so rich. This country was able to have over 400 years of free labor that produced that richness. Cohen is a brave man to take on this task,There will be those in congress who will not see the need for an apology,There will be others who will say that that was the past lets go forward. But to go forward a step must be taken from where you stand.

A country whose motto is "IN GOD WE TRUST" should finally live up to that motto and ask for forgiveness for its mistreatment of the "children of God". Congressman Steve Cohen should be commended for such a brave act. I WONDER WHY NO BLACK CONGRESSMAN HAS DONE THIS?

Lowery Wants To Know Why the CA Used His Name When They Were Aware Of How He Pays His Bill

In an article entitled "MLG&W sets exclusive club" the Commercial Appeal speaks of various poli-trick-ans whose names are on a list not to be disconnected if their utility bills become past due. City Councilman Myron Lowery takes exception with his name being a part of the article. Myron states that he told reporter Trevor Anderson that his bill automatically comes out of his bank account each month.

The CA along with other various medias paid $650.00 for 1200 pages of reports so we can expect several stories to come forth, But the goal should be to expose those who are corrupt and have used their influence to get away with something that the average citizen cannot do. Lowery has sent an e-mail asking Anderson why since he was aware of how his bill was paid was it needed to ad his name to the story. Also Gale Jones Carson Of MLG&W sent Lowery an e-mail stating that the new staff members were not aware of the list,and that the list was put together before the tenure of Joseph Lee.

I learned of this list last week. After investigation, I know that you, and others, did not know that this list existed and that you were on it. This list is years old, done prior to Joseph's appointment in 2004. On the list are people who are responsible for contacting elected officials and others on the list regarding the possibility of their services being disconnected. How and why certain people were selected to be on this list, none of the new people at MLGW know.

Examples of how old the list is:
Ken Cole was responsible for contacting several people -- he's been deceased several years now.
Pat Van der Schaaf is on the list and she has been off of the Council since 2003.
Frierson Graves was the responsbile party for himself -- he was the attorney for MLGW years ago.

P.S.
Mayor Herenton did not know this list existed either and he certainly didn't know that he was on it.

Should Edmund Ford Resign?

With the lastest chapter in Edmund Ford's book of politics being about not paying a bill to MLG&W since 2004 with the help of President Joseph Lee,has Ford lost his effectiveness on the council? Being under indictment for political corruption,And not being allowed to chair any committees what purpose does Ford serve?

With all the negative attention that he's receiving can he really focus on the needs of the district? Would the honorable thing be for Edmund Ford to resign and allow someone to carry out his term that can be responsive to the needs of the district. Here's your chance to address Ford tell him what you think of him, Is it all a big mistake? Should he resign? Can he serve as a councilman with the clouds that are hovering over his head? Should Joseph Lee Have Went Out Today And Cut Off Ford's Utilities Himself?

When MLG&W President Joseph Lee woke this morning and sat down for his breakfast, He probably picked up the morning CA to scan the news. When he sat down with coffee in hand and opened up the paper and read the headlines that showed that he knew that City Councilman Edmund Ford had not paid his bill since 2004, He probably almost scalded himself. I 'm sure that since he has to appear before a federal grand jury next week he already knew what was going on but to see it in printed certainly shook him.

His wife certainly has asked "Joe are we going to have to give up this great lifestyle that that big check of yours provides" Which is a fair question. Why did lee allow Ford to go so long without paying his bill? An will he lose his job over it? I'm sure that some council members will call for his dismissal for allowing Ford to do something that no other citizen can do.

What Lee should have done,is made a call to a MLGW Cut Off Crew and told them to meet him on Elvis Presley at Ford's funeral home and disconnected Ford's power himself. He should have taken a hammer and beat the meter to a pulp. and pulled up all the poles that bring power to the building. BUT THE WAY WHY IS FORD'S POWER STILL ON?

Edmund Ford who I have known for many years, Whose home I've visited, Whose funeral home I've worked for, lied to me. And that was not a lie he had to tell. When I asked him on Tuesday "What happened" Ed didn't have to tell me a bald face lie about his bill being connected to the fact that there are 3 different businesses located on the property and that the businesses all shared the same water meter, and that he had been paying the water bill for every one. Hell, its seems he wasn't paying for them or himself.

Why would his water bill be high? the only water he uses is the rest rooms. He has no morgue or prep room, So it can't be the water. he prepares his bodies at either J.O.Patterson's Funeral home or R.S. Lewis Funeral Home. I'm also wondering how he was able to acquire two brand new Cadillacs. I know Rusty Hyneman provided one, Which Ed has told me he didn't know Rusty was a part of the transaction. I wondered why he went out and got Cadillacs when his service cars are Lincoln's. Which means that the Caddy's were not for funeral business.

I wanted to give Ed the benefit of the doubt, But it seems that he has lied to not only me but the people that placed him in office. if what the Fed's and MLGW is saying is true Edmund Ford is guilty of using his political office to influence, Which kinda puts a nail in his coffin on his Federal indictment. WHY DOES HE NEED LIGHTS, HIS CUSTOMERS WON'T COMPLAIN.

Steve Cohen Is the Congressman Whether Some Like It Or Not

I spent several hours today in the office of Congressman Steve Cohen watching him and his staff interact with citizens from the 9th Congressional District. Cohen is determined to make sure that citizens have a place to come to when it seems there is no hope. We discussed the street light that Perry Steel spoke of at the Town hall meeting,Even though this is not the Congressman job he stated to me that he's going to make calls for Steel and see if he can't get him results.

There are still those who say that Cohen is a one term Congressman, Based on what? A black running? Cohen knows that every day is a journey towards two years, And is working to let all the citizens of the district know that he's going to do the job for the district that must be done.

Since his election he has co-sponsored over 90 pieces of legislation, And has agreed to co-sponsor many more. Congressman Cohen has also joined the Out of Iraq Caucus,And is an active member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus and an active member of the Progressive Caucus.

While sitting there with the Deputy Administrator of the Memphis office we spoke of a woman who needed surgery and was turned around at the door,Congressman Cohen made a call and the surgery was set. Citizens are calling and coming by his office for relief of problems, and that is what he should do as Congressman.!!!

As the Congressman sat behind his desk with a view of the mighty Mississippi over his shoulder he spoke of how he's determined to get results for the citizens of the 9th Congressional district, How he supports bringing our troops back home. Steve Cohen will also not just put on a Washington aire, But will get involved in local issues that need a word from Washington and a word from one whose willing to stand for what is right for all citizens no matter what that citizen's skin tone may be.

Cohen has an excellent staff of servants waiting to serve this community,Randy Wade demands that citizens get immediate service for their problems and being a part of this community for many years gets on the phone and gets many of those results himself.

Will I always agree with the Congressman,Not likely,But as long as I believe that he's fighting the good fight he has my support and the fight in me if needed. Don't allow those who have nothing to do but talk and never get anything done discourage you from being a part of a community that is willing to put color to the side and make Memphis a better place for all.

Will Karen Camper Bury The Undertaker?

I posted a picture of City Council candidate Karen Camper that turned blue,So I'm reposting her pic so you can see who the next council person from the Cordova area will be. Camper will be running for the seat that is presently held by Brent Taylor. It has been rumored that Taylor who has a very thriving funeral home business may not be seeking re-election,But whether he runs or not is not a factor with Karen Camper. Keith Ferguson For City Council?

Last week when I wrote about School Board member Stephanie Gatewood's intention of running for City Council in district 1,There was a lot of response about Keith Ferguson,And his plans for running for the same office that is presently held by E.C.Jones. I met Ferguson on last night at Congressman Steve Cohen's Town Hall meeting,I asked him to send me his platform for his campaign,And he did.

Appropriate funds for street improvements and insist upon code enforcement.


After reading Keith Ferguson's platform there are several areas of concern.First of all he must learn what he can and cannot do as a councilman. His first point of adding Reserve police officers to the school system does not come under the banner of the council by the school board. That request would have to be made by the board and approved by the Police Director not the City Council. His point of wanting to provide homes for the homeless is commendable, But what about seeking a way to provide employment?

I did not see a plan that sets out an idea to deal with crime and drugs in the district, Such as asking for increase patrols in the high crime areas of the district,along with asking parents and the police to enforce the curfew laws. How about a plan where the Councilman meets with the men of the district and set up neighborhood patrols of their own communities.

There is no need for funding for beautification of neighborhoods, insist that people keep their streets and yards clean themselves and ask Code Enforcement to cite those who turn their yards into garages and repair shops. Ferguson is a nice guy but I think that he needs to sat up Town hall meeeting and find out the concerns of the district and not just use his ideas. Did Edmund Tell Me The Truth?

I spoke with City Councilman Edmund Ford Tuesday after the news of the FBI investigation broke into how he pays his MLGW bill. I had found through sources at the utility company that Peggy Brewer who retired recently had given the information about Ford to Attorney Richard Fields to pass on to the FBI and the media. Both Brewer and Fields have worked in the past for the NAACP.

I called Edmund on his cell both he was in a council meetings, So I went to City Hall where I spoke with him personally. I was told that the bill concerned the three businesses located on the property where his funeral home is located. Ford told me that even though the three businesses have separate gas and electric meters they all share the same water meter which he stated was in his name. Ford stated that he had just been paying the bill without asking the other business owners for money on the water bill. After knowing Ed for many years, even helping him in his funeral business I wanted to believe him,But after reading the CA I'm not sure he was telling me the truth.

Less than three months ago, indicted Memphis City Councilman Edmund Ford owed a tidy sum to the city-owned Memphis Light, Gas and Water Division.
In all, Ford owed more than $16,392 in utility charges for his personal and business accounts, records show.



The FBI is investigating how Ford -- who until recently chaired the city's General Services and Utilities Committee, which oversees MLGW's budget and spending -- was able to rack up such large bills without having his service disconnected.
That investigation, which began with the delivery of subpoenas to MLGW last week, has led to the top executives at MLGW, including president and chief executive Joseph Lee III, an appointee of Mayor Willie Herenton.

On Thursday, MLGW vice president of customer operations Alonzo Weaver and other employees of the utility company testified before a federal grand jury. Lee, who was expected to testify Thursday, will instead go before the grand jury on Tuesday.

As Weaver and his colleagues took the witness stand, MLGW general counsel Odell Horton Jr. delivered to federal authorities more than 1,300 pages of subpoenaed records documenting Ford's outstanding balances and including internal MLGW communications about the council member's accounts.

MLGW executives, records show, not only knew about Ford's outstanding bills but also were aware of his account's improper inclusion in a special program designed to aid financially strapped utility customers who cannot pay their bills. While enrolled in MLGW's "On Track" program, customers go through financial counseling in exchange for leniency -- specifically, utility service is not disconnected due to outstanding balances.

The program, which had 264 participants in 2005 and at least 246 in 2006, is available only for personal residences of customers who have never filed bankruptcy.

Despite having filed bankruptcy three times -- including a 1999 filing in which MLGW was among his creditors -- Ford enjoyed the benefits of the On Track program. His account was flagged as not eligible for service disconnection, even though he did not attend the required counseling sessions.

What's more, Ford's account wasn't for his residence, it was for his business, E. H. Ford Mortuary Services.

In December, according to an MLGW memo, On Track program coordinator Peggy Brewer informed Weaver that Ford's business was somehow enrolled in On Track. At Lee's request, Weaver then called Ford to discuss a payment plan.

But it wasn't the first time Lee involved himself in the council member's outstanding utility bill. According to another document, an MLGW employee made a notation in the computer system regarding a $2,299.63 balance from January 2005. It read: "Mr. Ford to call Mr. Lee concerning account."

Lee did not return calls, and Weaver declined to comment.

Ford characterized his dealings with MLGW as personal affairs.

"My business is my personal business, and it's none of your business," Ford said. "I'm a hardworking person trying to make it. That's all I've got to say."

If this is true it's time for Ford to resign from the Council, But also if this is true The Mayor should fire Joseph Lee and all those who knew that MLG&W was going something for one customer that they are not doing for others. How can MLG&W cut off any customer now whose behind on their bill. MLGW may be looking at a Class Action Lawsuit.

Congressman Steve Cohen Makes History In the 9th Congressional District By Giving Citizens A Chance To Speak

Tonight at the Martin Luther King Civil Rights Museum What never took place out of 32 years of political reign in the 9th Congressional District,Took place. On the hollow grounds where Martin King lost his life many local Civil Rights leaders gathered as Congressman Steve Cohen presented his first Congressional Town Hall Meeting.

Along with this being the first time that citizens from the district has had the chance to questioned their congressman,A very powerful congressman who has been in the congress 42 years sat on the stage with Cohen in the person of Congressman John Conyers of Michigan Who now chairs the Judicial Committee. Conyers first statements were of tribute to Cohen for the work he's done in the short time that he's been in Washington,And stated that that was the reason that he was in Memphis.

Conyers stated that after speaking with Cohen on health care and some other issues,He knew that Cohen was one who would be moving up the ladder and could work well with the Congressional Black Caucus,The Hispanic Caucus, The Progressive Caucus,To make sure we start moving this country in the right direction.

As I looked around the room I saw history in every corner,I saw those who have given their lives for freedom and equality giving their support to the new congressman who as a freshman had enough clout to bring the likes of John Conyers to Memphis. Maxine Smith,Judge Russell Sugermon, Mrs. Odell Horton,Rev.Samuel Billy Kyles,Minerva Johnican, Minister Shakara Yahwah known in the day when he was a member of the Invaders as Lance "Sweet Willie Wine" Watson, Norvella Smith Arnold and many others who have been on the battlefield for justice a long time.

Than I looked around and notice the new fighters, School Board Commissioners Tomeka Hart and Martavious Jones, Willie Brooks,Herman Morris,Steve Moore, Judge Gwen Rooks, Judge Tarik Sugarmon, Commissioner Henri Brooks,Keith Ferguson and Karen Camper who will both be candidates for the City Council,along with many others who still are ready to stand for truth,justice, and the American way.

Conyers attacked President Bush as a liar who has led this country into a needless war, He spoke of how this President has spent $2Trillion dollars fighting a war while making major cuts on domestic needs. He spoke of how he wonders what happen to the $9 billion dollars that was suppose to be spent on the victims of Katrina who are as much in need now as they were when the hurricane struck.

Those in the crowd of several hundred who wanted to question Cohen or Conyers got their chance,many wanted to address the war in Iraq while others wanted to address Health care. There were those in the standing room crowd that wanted to address how this mad man that we have for a President make start a war in Iran,while others wanted to discuss impeachment of Bush. But the main thing was that the citizens had a chance to "Express Themselves" to their congressman and to one of the greatest congressmen of all times, something that citizens in the 9th Congressional have never been able to do.

Listening to the concerns of citizens tonight in a crowd that was racially balanced, And seeing the excitement in the eyes of people as they heard two congressmen state that they support the removal of our troops from a foreign soil, And the withdrawal of funds to farther support a mad man's war,was a breath of fresh air. As blacks and whites gathered together tonight to share input on what will make not only the 9th Congressional District a better place, But the whole of this country, I'm sure the spirit of Martin Luther King Jr. who was slain just a few feet away was saying " Yes, We Shall Overcome Someday"

John Would Not Be In Trouble If He Had Just WATCHed His Mouth

I've WATCHed the tape of John Ford and the FBI agent where he brags about receiving a $50,000 Rolex in exchange for saying that " Rich White motherfucker" $1.5 million dollars.Do you think John's mouth has sunk his ship ? And what about Hyneman taking the 5th,Is he waiting on a deal from the Fed's before taking John out?

I think that several local poli-trick-ans are about to find out that Hyneman used them and in Joe Cooper and Tim Willis fashion is about to hang them out to dry. I'm sure that the plea of the 5th by Hyneman is just a stall until he gets the right deal,What do you think?

Tom It's Not A Crime Not To Be Able To Pay MLG&W,The Crime Is The High Rates

City Councilman Tom Marshall wants to check the MLG&W bills of all elected officials to see if their bills are being paid on time,He also wants to check the bills of citizens,Which he's able to do because it seems that your bill is public information. Tom whose doing anything he can these days to draw attention has lost his mind, When did it become a crime to owe MLG&W? Why is the FBI concerned about a utility bill?

This lastest tirade by Marshall comes as a result of the FBI checking into the utility payments of City Councilman Edmund Ford who only became the focus of the agency after being tipped off according to sources within the utility company by attorney Richard Fields who was given the information by Peggy Brewer, who retired from MLG&W several weeks ago. Both Brewer and Fields have worked for the NAACP.

In the only interview that Ford has given he states to me that yes like other citizens in this city he has in the past gotten behind on his bill,But isn't that the case with thousands in Shelby County? But Ford's business in Whitehaven is on a lot with two other businesses who all share the same water meter which is in Ford's name. The three businesses have separate gas and electric meters, But instead of trying to divide the water bill he choose to pay it himself,As a service for the small businesses. But he at times has found it hard to pay the bill,But is this a crime? No,If so half the county needs to be arrested.

Some because of the indictment Ford presently finds himself under are trying to pull rabbits out of a hat to further give him the appearance of being a poli-trick-an on the take. If Ford is guilty of the alleged crime than he should be punish, But to try to create a crime is just wrong.

The real crime is the high cost that citizens pay for there service,A service that sometimes the poor have to make a decision of whether or not to stay warm or buy medication,To buy groceries or to worry about being cut off. If the FBI is really concerned about MLG&W find out how the utility company can buy gas and electricity at a discounted rate but charge the citizens a higher rate. Maybe the Feds can find out how a meter reader can read a meter in a backyard from the front yard, Maybe they can also tell us how homes where no one is home all day can have a bill as high as a home where someone is home all day.

The Council is not supposed to be made up of rich and powerful persons, But common people with common problems. Is The FBI On A Witch Hunt?

The FBI has indicted City Council members Rickey Peete and Edmund Ford for using allegelly using their political influence to acquire zoning for the building of billboards for William H.Thomas Jr. If they are guilty of using their influence,Isn't Thomas guilty of bribing public officials? Why hasn't Thomas been indicted? If Peete and Ford are guilty of a crime so he Thomas.

Are we to believe that maybe the FBI is only concerned about Blacks in their plan to kill off political corruption? Where is Rusty Hyneman? Where is Jim Rout? Where are the rich White power brokers? Thomas is allowed to break the law without recourse. He builds billboards with out a permit, He's told to cease work on building a billboard and continues to build in spite of being ordered not to.

William Thomas signs deals for drug dealers to be able to drive fancy Cadillac's Joe Cooper in his indicted states that he was seeking person to carry drugs into Mexico. But who was Cooper recruiting for? Whose the head of his drug Cortel,Could it be the man who has drug dealers cars in his name,and registered to his business address Be a drug Lord? Again I ask How are Peete and Ford to be tried without William Thomas?


Charges against Peete and Ford should be dropped if the government refuses to be fair and bring charges against William Thomas. It's going to be very hard to convince a jury of their peers(BLACK"S) that the government has not been selective in who they bring charges against.

The charges against Peete and Ford and the lastest attempt to check into the financial records of Peete and the investigation into the MLW&W bill off of the city is beginning to look like an attempt to have a witch haunt where the only witches wanted are black.

Edmund Ford And MLG&W,Much To Say About Nothing

Various local news venues have reported how the FBI is looking into three locations that's alleged that City Councilman Edmund Ford have receive special treatment in the payment of his MLG&W bill. It's known that the Fed's subpoenaed Ford's records from the utility company,But is this the real story? I think not, And how did the FBI get involved in the payment of Ford's MLG&W bill

This morning I started calling my sources to see what happened,And this is what I found. It seems according to sources within MLG&W that Attorney Richard Fields in his quest to castigate and degrade black men tipped the FBI off,After receiving the information from MLG&W employee Peggy Harper. Whats the connection between Fields and harper? They both have worked for the NAACP. But why hasn't the FBI commented> Could it be because there's nothing to comment on,and that they have been led down the yellow brick road looking for the wizard.

After receiving this information I called Edmund on his cell to relay what I had found out,And to find out his side of the story. Edmund reminded me that there are three different businesses with three different addresses located on the property where his funeral home is located. Being at the funeral home many many times I know that this is true. Ford states that even though there are three different businesses they all share the same water connection which is in his name.

The businesses all have different light and gas connections and bills but the water is all on the same meter. Ford states that in the past he has just paid the water bill since it was in his name and yes there have been times that he like many others in the city has had a problem paying his bill.

The FBI on last Tuesday visited the other businesses on the property to ask the owners weather they were paying there bill to him and he was not paying that money to MLG&W. According to Ford the business owners all stated that no money for the water was being paid to him,which kind of kills the Fed's witch hunt.

Ford may like many in this community have problems paying his Business MLG&W bill,along with his home bill,But if this is criminal there are a lot of citizens that should be investigated by the Fed's. Richard Fields who enjoyed paying a minor for sex while having his ass played with with a dildo is the one who needs to be investigated by the Fed's maybe they can find other children that he has had sex with. For a man who seems to hate black men he surely has no problem sleeping with black women.

Meet Karen Camper Who Has plans To Replace Brent Taylor On The City Council

You will soon be hearing a lot about Karen Camper who has every intention of running for the City Council,And in the Cordova area of the city. This seat is presently held by Councilman Brent Taylor. It has been rumored that Taylor has no plans to run for re-election planning to spend time growing his thriving funeral home business. But weather he runs or not Karen Camper is in the race to stay.

Is Councilman Edmund Ford Getting Free Services From MLG&W?

The FBI have subpoenaed records from MLG&W concerning City Councilman Edmund Ford's previous utility payments. Sources state that the Feds have subpoenaed 3years of Ford's power bills.It seems that Ford who has a home in White haven and a business on Elvis Presley may have not been paying his bills. But if this is the case someone at MLG&W would have to also be involved.

So what do you think,Is it possible that Ford has been allowed not to pay his bills? If its found that he's guilty of getting free services while citizens in Memphis are having hard times paying there bill,What should happen to him?

William H. Thomas Shows That He's Beyond The Law

On Thursday when a source tipped me off that William H.Thomas was purposely violated an order to "STOP WORK" on building a billboard at the rear of Crossroads Ford on Summer,I went out and found a crew waiting for orders to continue to build. The Stop Work order was put in place to cease all building on the billboard. The stop order was first given in early February,and a reminder was sent early Thursday morning from the Memphis and Shelby County Office of Construction Code Enforcement.


While at the site on Thursday I took pictures of the only work that had been done,which was the placement of a 10 ft steel pole in the ground. On today I revisited the site and found that in spite of being ordered to "STOP WORK" work had continued. I found that at least a 50ft portion had been added to the 10ft portion that I saw on Thursday. Also the steel poles that were on the pictured truck were present at the work site along with a bulldozer.

William H. Thomas clearly has no intent of following the law. The Stop Work Order was put in place because there is no clarity as to who owns the property that the billboard is being built on. Crossroads states that the property belongs to them,While Thomas has had three surveys done and each survey says a different thing. Also Thomas is violating state and local distance requirement laws. The law reads that there has to be a distance of at least 1000 ft between billboards, In the case of this billboard being built by Thomas there is just over 600ft between the billboard being built by Thomas and the next nearest billboard.

It's Very apparent that Thomas who had Kerico Green a drug dealer's Cadillac registered to him and to his business office on Sanderlin has no regards for the law. The Cadillac was purchased at Bud Davis Cadillac with Joe Cooper as the salesman. The same Joe Cooper who in his Federal indictment stated that he was looking for someone to carry drugs into Mexico. I've wondered who it was that Joe was looking for mules(Carriers) for. Couldn't be a guy who places drug dealers cars in his name could it?

This is the same Joe Cooper that is alleged to have paid Ricky Peete and Edmund Ford to use their political influence to get property zoned for Thomas to build a billboard. And I still wonder how both Peete and Ford are indicted and Thomas is not. Thomas is telling local government to "Kiss His Ass" and what's so bad about it is that they are.

Thomas is to appear on Friday morning in Judge Larry Potter's Court Room for this violation,But will he be slapped on the wrist or made to take down the portion of the billboard that has been built? If Rickey peete and Edmund ford are criminals so is William H. Thomas, And will law enforcement have the nerves to deal with him?

Also on this Friday morning Thomas will be in Chancery Court as Fellowship C.O.G.I.C. will attempt to recover property that he stole from the church to build a billboard. That's right William H. Thomas even steals from the Lord,It's time that someone DOT,DOT,Dot,and TAP,TAP,TAP, on his door and take his ass to jail

Who Has William H.Thomas Paid Off In Local Government That Allows Him To Build Billboards Without A Permit?

City Council members Rickey Peete and Edmund Ford have been indicted because the Fed's say that they used their political influence to get property zoned commercial so that William H.Thomas could build a billboard. Joe Cooper the bag man for Thomas has pleaded guilty to taking them money for this purpose. So we know that Thomas has no problem buying poli-trick-ans.

So my question is,Who has Thomas bought in City and County government that has allowed him to build billboards with NO PERMITS AT ALL. That's right Thomas has built several billboards without ever receiving a permit,In fact in some cases he didn't even fill out an application he just found some land and built a billboard. There a strict regulations and guidelines for those in the billboard business which require permits to be acquired prior to building.

So how does this multi-millionaire developer get away with not having the required permits? Has he paid someone off in the office of Memphis and Shelby County Office of Construction Code Enforcement? Has he paid off someone in both the county and city Mayor's office's? Why has the city and the county allowed Thomas who has drug dealers cars registered to his office to get away with breaking the law? Are County Commissioners and Council members fearful of Thomas. The Fed's went after Peete and Ford but why is Thomas allowed to continue to break the law?

The above billboard is located at Lamar and Prescott and according to Allen Medlock of the Memphis and Shelby County Office of Construction Code Enforcement,No permits were given for this billboard to be built. And at no time did William H.Thomas even submit and application to build. But my question is why is he allowed to do business? The company that appears to make money off the Grizzlies operates outside of the laws that others have to abide by,But why?

Does the County Commission or the City Council have the balls to take on this criminal,Or or they scared to go after a rich powerful white developer? Does the City and County mayor have a set that will allow them to question their Code enforcement people and find out why Thomas has been allowed to violate the law, Or is A.C. And Willie also bought off by William H.Tomas

If Council Supports Herenton On Stadium,Will They Be Signing Their Political Death Certificate?

With the Pyramid closed even though there's still a debt on the building,The Coliseum about to be closed,Mayor Willie Herenton will present his case to The City Council on Tuesday as to why a new football stadium needs to be built. In a city where police and fire personnel can't get a raise Willie wants to waste taxpayers money on another sports novelty.

But to make his dream or the dream of whoever happens to be pulling his strings on this project happen it would take a passing decision by the council. Will Willie be able to convince council members that building another sports waste is a good idea? In this election year when many on the council will seek re-election are they cray enough to latch on to this foolish plan of the mayor?

Since foolishness seems to be a way of life with this council,What message do you want to send the council? Should they support the mayor with this idea,Or if they do will they be signing their political death certificate?Will you support any council member who votes to waste taxpayers money on this plan that brings no real benefit to the community.

Henri Brooks For Chairman Of The Shelby County Democratic Party?

It seems that County Commissioner Henri Brooks may want to take on another battle besides Juvenile Court. I have received several calls from persons who say that Brooks is making calls of inquiry,Trying to find out where her support lies if she decides to run for the chairmanship of the Shelby County Democratic Party.

First of all it is my opinion that an elected official should not hold this position. How can an elected official decide whats best for the party when they are in bed with democrats that don't themselves have the best interest of the party at heart. I also think that with her present battle with Juvenile Court if elected members of the party who do not share her views would be thrown into the battle,And as chairman she would only support those who think and feels as she does.

Is Henri Brooks Sidney Chism's candidate? Is Henri the tool that Chism is using to take control of the party? Surely with the two of them on the Commission her bid for leadership of the party has been discussed and a course set. Is brooks willing like Javier Bailey to open herself up for questions of present or past drug abuse? Will she explain why several years ago she laid in the snow outside her home after being dropped off for several hours.

Right now with her battle at Juvenile Court which as a Commissioner she has the right to fight if she thinks that there is a need for a second judge,But she does not have the right to make the party a part of that battle. She does not have the right to use the small amount of weight the party has to be use as a weapon against the court. It is my opinion that Henri Brooks would be the wrong person for the leadership of the party,First because she's an elected official,And secondly the democratic party should be about electing democrats that will be public servants and not self serving,And third the party should not be used as a personal tool for the political agenda of an elected poli-trick-an.

Developer William H. Thomas Has No Regards For The Law

Memphis Developer William H.Thomas, who signed for cars for drug dealers,And had those cars registered to his office on Sanderline,And whose association with Joe Cooper led to the federal indictments of City Council members Rickey peete and Edmund Ford over land that he paid Cooper to allegedly bribe Peete and Ford to get zoning for so that he could build a billboard is proving that he has no regards for the law.

Thomas was ordered earlier this month and again this morning to stop work on a billboard that he was building behind CrossRoads Ford on Summer Ave. It seems that Thomas may not own the land he's trying to build on,Along with the fact that with knowledge he's violating the state and county's distance requirements.


The "Stop Work" order was given for set back violations which means that he's violating the distance requirements from the nearest billboard which is 1000 ft,Along with the distance requirement of being 15ft from the property line. The distance that Thomas is building his billboard is just over 600ft from the nearest billboard,And observing the 10ft post that he has already placed in the ground to start the building of the billboard it is much closer than 15ft.

Than there's the problem of whether or not he's building on land that belongs to him. He says that he is,And CrossRoads says he's not. But no matter what he'was ordered to stop building the billboard. But he has decided to totally disregard the orders of the county and state, In fact he cut a hole through a fence belonging to the State of Tennessee and was cited by state troopers for criminal trespassing.

William Thomas went out to the site today to start building the billboard that he has been ordered not to build, I received a call from a source that stated that Thomas was in the process of trying to get the billboard up before he could get caught,And that his intention was to get it up and then worry about the law and lawsuits. this would give him achance to be making money out the billboards while the lawsuits were in court.

When I arrived Thomas was gone but his crew was ready to start building the billboard,The tall steel pipes were waiting to be unloaded. I asked the work crew if they were their to build a billboard for Thomas which they replied "Yes", They also stated that they had been ordered to stop by a Building inspector. At that point i drove over to the Memphis and Shelby County Office of Construction Code Enforcement and met with Senior Building Inspector Ronnie Gilbreath.

Gilbreath stated that he had ordered the Stop work order in earlier this month,and that he had faxed Thomas a reminder earlier today, but he's intent on getting that billboard built no matter what he was ordered to do. One on the problem that Thomas seems to have is the fct that he may or may not be building on his property. I was shown three different surveys that Thomas had commissioned and all three were different. I also saw a survey that CrossRoads had commissioned and it shows a different picture. So as of now the 10 ft pipe that Thomas has placed in the ground to star building may not be on his property.

Gilbreath also feels that Thomas will attempt to maybe build the billboard this weekend while the office is close. Thomas who is a millionaire does not care about the finds or lawsuits, he knows that if he gets the billboard up he can start making money while the lawsuits are handled in court. But the question must be asked Who gave him a permit to build? Why is the state and county law says 1000 ft is the distance that billboards have to be apart,why hasn't he been ordered to remove the steel pipe that he's placed in the ground thats only just over 600 ft in distance from the nearest billboard? Does he have someone in county government in his pockets?

I know that officials of both the city and County Governments view this site daily, Will they allow Thomas to snub his nose at the law that they make others obey? With his connection to Joe cooper and drug dealers it would seem that Thomas would be closely observed by law enforcement agencies. Will County government check on the site this weekend to make sure the order is not violated, will they arrest him if he does?

Speaking of arrest, This morning (FRIDAY) at 10AM in Chancery Court the C.O.G.I.C will seek to regain property that Thomas aquired through Fraudulent means that belongs to the church. Attorney Javier Bailey councel for the church has been instructed By Bishop J.O.Patterson Jr to file criminal charges against Thomas, Doretha Gooden, and Emmitt Ford if they don't turn over the property that belongs to fellowship C.O.G.I.C. Emmitt Ford has given a sworn statement that his signature was forged

According to records in the Shelby County Trustee's office and the County Registar's office,the property on Steve Road was sold in 1996 to Daled Preferred Properties,L.L.C of Baltimore Maryland,by Union Planters Bank of Mississippi,for $23,394.80.

In November of 1997,the property was not sold but quit deeded to The Fellowship C.O.G.I.C. pastored by James Ford for $10.00. James Ford at that time was a member of the County Commission.What I find most strange about the quit claim is what could be done with the property. One would think that if this property which was zoned residential was the truly the property of James Ford and his church,that they could do as they please with the land.

But this was not the case,there was a provision in the deed that did not allow for anything being done with the property but the building of billboards. That provision states "The grantor(Daled Preferred Properties) retains the right set forth below in the subject property,and the grantee (James Ford and his Church) agrees to assist the grantor in exercising the rights herein reserved,including without limitation assisting the grantor in obtaining the necessary zoning to build and maintain a billboard as hereinafter provided.

Thats right it seems that the only reason that the property was deeded over to James Ford and his Church ,was for Ford to somehow get the property rezoned for commercial use,so that Daled Preferred Properties could build a billboard. Are we to believe that James Ford was doing this without cost? How did Preferred think that James Ford was going to get the property rezoned? Was James Ford to use his brother Joseph Ford who at the time was on the council,or did James tell them that he knew how to get what they wanted? What we have here is a scheme to use a public figure to obtain a rezoning provision for a company's gain. And it appears that James ford was willing to play alone.

So why place the property in the name of the church, couldn't James Ford do there bidding without the property being in the name of the church? Of course he could,but with the property in the name of the church while the process of rezoning was taking place Daled Preferred Properties wouldn't have to pay taxes. If what I'm proposing happen truly happened, Do you think that James was paid a fee for saving the company tax fees?

Daled Preferred Properties,whose main office is in Baltimore Maryland,is registered as a corporation in Tennessee with attorney F.Guthrie Castle of Memphis as the registered agent. Guthrie is a banking and investment attorney. Seems as though he and William H.Thomas Jr,the owner of Thomas Investments,and present owner of the Steve road property have a lot in common.

In November of 2001 James Ford dies,without getting the property rezoned. But Daled Preferred properties can't do anything about the deed or the property because the property is in the name of a dead man. So now they have to figure out what to do to get there property back and get it zoned commercial.

So what do they do? On December 30,2001 another quit claim deed is filed,taking the property out of the name of the church and placed in the name of Doretha Clay Gooden. Doretha who some say was a love interest of Ford listed herself on the deed as the secretary and assistant pastor of Fellowship. With James ford being dead I,m sure you're wondering who signed the property into her hands,well it was Emmitt Ford,the churches Trustee,so he said.

Four years later Doretha Gooden sells the property to William H. House Jr. For $45,000.00. By the time this property is sold to house we know that there's a business relationship with Thomas and Alleged FBI informant Joe cooper. We know that the business address of Thomas is being used as registration for a murderer and drug dealer to register his car. We know that the cars were sold by Joe Cooper. We also know that by this time Jackie Welch a local realty company owner is suing both Cooper and Thomas for welching on a land business deal,


Also there is no way that William H.Thomas or Joe Cooper can claim that they did not know the property had been in the name of Fellowship. I'm sure they did a property search to check who the owner were an if any liens were on the property, Thus William Thomas and Joe Cooper knew now how to get there property rezoned. The brother of James and Emmitt,Edmund.

Another strange factor about this case is the fact that on January 4,2006 a correction quit deed claim was filed to correct the legal description and the notary acknowledgment on the quit claim deed of record. It's signed again by Emmitt Ford Trustee of Fellowship C.O.G.I.C. What's odd is that in January of 2006 this church that is now pastored by Elder L.T.Frye Jr from my sources within the church state that Emmitt Ford is not a trustee of that church.

Emmitt Ford signs a document under oath stating that he was a trustee and had the right to sign his name as a representative of fellow ship. If the facts are true concerning Emmitt signing in behalf of the church when he's not a trustee whose been given the authority by the current pastor he has committed a crime.

I can not believe that Emmitt also didn't inform edmund as to what was going on with this property. After the death of James the only Ford that they could use to make the zoning happen was Edmund. The feds need to ask Doretha Gooden where did the $45,000.00 that she was paid for the property go,And how she made contact with William H.Thomas. William thomas should be made to produce the check he used to buy the property from Gooden,or did he pay in cash?

Blacks Gave Up Congress,Should They Give Up The Mayor's Office To?

Many Blacks know that Steve Cohen walks the halls of Congress because of Black support, In fact all those who live in the 9th Congressional District know that had not Cohen been able to garner very strong support from Blacks over Jake Ford he would be out of a job. Many Blacks were willing to give up a 32 year reign of control of congress hoping that Cohen would bring about a much needed change in the district. But the question now is, Are blacks willing to give up the Mayor's office?

Blacks fought for many years in Memphis to have representation, And that representation was not given but taken by a people who felt that our time had come. Blacks have the right in a city that is 70% black to have representation that looks like them,But that representation should be held accountable. Willie Herenton was given an agenda by the black community that he has never served,And now it's time for a change,But should the black community look to white leadership or another black whose qualified to be mayor?

Some say that it does not matter what color the next mayor happens to be,As long as Herenton is voted out. It's no secret that I believe that Willie 's time in office needs to end, But should the Black community embrace Carol Chumney or John Willingham or embrace a black candidate that will work to empower not just white power brokers but the black community as well. Should the black community who had no power at all in Memphis for most of the city's history give up that power?

Herman Morris will announce by month's end his plan to run for mayor, Should the black community embrace his campaign,Or surrender its power over this office? Some will say that color is not important and that what Memphis needs is someone that will work to make all of Memphis a better place. While i agree with this statement to some extent I must also state that the black community that turned its congressional power over to Cohen because of the large number of blacks running for the office should consider,If we've given up congress and we give up the mayor's office what will we be expected to give up next?

While those who have blinders on say that blacks having control is not important, Blacks must remember that we fought to have power,And you don't just give that power away,You find those in the black community who are not self serving but public servants,willing to be held accountable knowing that if they don't serve they will be replaced. When Whites were the majority in Memphis they had control and wouldn't let go, So now that blacks are the majority why are they expected to concede power.

I want to hear from Chumney and Willingham, Whats on their agendas that will enhance and empower the black community, And if they have nothing they should not expect the black vote. If they have no plan to fight crime,They should not expect the black vote. If they don't have a plan that will build up black neighborhoods like downtown has been built up,They should not expect the black vote. If they want to give tax breaks (P.I.L.O.T.S.) only to large corporations and not to the poor and elderly,They shouldn't expect the black vote. If Blacks hold the key to power in this city they should not unlock the door for the wrong candidate.

Herman Morris in his bid for the Mayor's office must have a platform to enhance the hold of this community,but he must also have a plan that brings life to many dieing black communities in this city. Or he should not expect the black vote.

Before Running For The City Council,Has Gatewood Proven Herself On The School Board?

School Board member Stephanie Gatewood wants to replace E.C. Jones on the City Council,But is she ready? With my daily push on radio several years ago Gatewood was able with very little money was able to defeat incumbent Willie Brooks by nearly 5,000 votes. Brooks who I found to have been financed by Pitt Hyde told me that he didn't have to explain anything to me about his campaign became my target for defeat and was.

I thought that this Mother would bring a freshness and a touch from the neighborhood to the board, But I have been disappointed. I knew from talking to her when she was running for School Board,That she wanted to be a City Council member and expected to see her attack issues and to be very vocal concerning the education of our children,But I have not seen what I expected from her.

While I think that Jones and the other members of the council need to be replaced,We dare not replace them with someone who has not proven themselves in the office that they already hold. And it's my opinion that Gatewood has not proven herself. I would like to hear her views on the issues of the City. I will invite her to submit herself for your questions here on this blog, I will ask her to submit her platform for your review.

I am also concerned about whether or not she has what it takes to stand against power brokers. Its rumored around Memphis city Schools that this former employee of "Home Depot" received her present job at the University of Memphis through the graces of Carol Johnson who needed her support on a issue that Johnson wanted passed by the board. Also I received word in late December from City Hall when it was thought that E.C.Jones would resign,that Tom Marshall made a call to Gatewood telling her to seek the appointment to replace Jones. Seems as though Marshall loves Black women he can control.

What is interesting is that Willie Brooks may seek the seat also, But whoever runs must know the issues and have a plan for the district,But I don't think that Stephanie Gatewood is ready for the job.

Is Chumney The One,Or Should We Look For Another?

Carol Chumney has never met a TV camera that she didn't like,And she has been very vocal on many issues, But does she have what it takes to beat Willie Herenton. While I like Chumney I must wonder if she can stand toe to toe with Herenton. Will she bow to pressure when she finds herself in the same room with him? Is he prepared to get her nose bloody from the blows that Willie will throw.

Another problem that she may run into is John Willingham, How many votes will he pull from her. John will out debate her when it comes to dealing with such issues as the FEDEX FORUM, taxes, and the pilot programs. As A former County Commissioner he is no slouch, He can give you numbers on the arena that will have one standing in awe. Willingham will attack the missing $6million from the FEDEX garagelike no other candidate. John will attack issues harder than Chumney and will not back down from what he believes. Being in a battle with two strong personalities like Herenton and Willingham could have a strong effect on her campaign,And cause her votes from her base which is the white voter.

If Willingham presents himself as a more versed candidate whose willing to take the fight to herenton,Chumney could be in serious trouble. Plus when you add Herman Morris to the mix her chances get even slimmer. Will Chumney have the money to get her message out. Morris stated to me earlier this week that his campaign will be solid in it's finances and will have the money to get his message out.

All candidates must know that Herenton will fight to win,And will full no punches. His goal with Chumney is to make her blink,And if she blinks she can kiss the Mayor's office goodbye. Should the candidates get together and try to figure out who has the best chance of defeating Herenton ,and throw their support that candidate.

What's your view Can Carol beat Herenton one on one? Whose the strongest candidate Carol or Morris? Who do you think needs to get out of the race, Chumney or Willingham? Is Willingham a spoiler, Or just showing Chumney that she does not have what it takes to win,and that he's prepared to to take Herenton on.

Is Memphis ready for a white to take over as mayor? Will the Black community fight to keep a black as mayor? Will the white community demand that there is no overcrowding and that he does not fight the nurses. Would you vote for her versus Morris? and will Memphis support a man over a man in a leadership role. And are citizens ready to embrace her based on what they see on TV,Or will the community demand to hear her positions soon.

There Are Citizens Preparing to Run For City Council

There will most likely be some new faces on the City Council next year.There are persons lining up to run against several of the present council members. Some of the names that are out that's rumored to be preparing to run are,Janis Fullilove who may decide to run for the council instead of City Court clerk. School Board member Stephanie Gatewood has made it known that she plans to run against E.C.Jones.

Other names you may hear are Reginald French,Wanda Halbert,State Representative Eddie neal, And Jennings Bernard. I also know that there is a search going on in North Memphis to find someone to run against Barbara S. Holt. This year's political races will get bloody and will be no holds barred. Will the white community give Tom Marshall and Jack Sammons a pass?

Jack Sammons is supporting Attorney Jim Strickland to replace Carol Chumney whose running for mayor. Would you vote for anyone that is endorsed by a present council member? Rickey Peete's seat will be up for grabs,Along with the council seat of Edmund Ford, But Edmund Ford Jr. has his eyes on that seat. A new Council and a new mayor would make Memphis a better place.

Who Will Get The Black Vote,Chumney Or Willingham?

With Both Carol Chumney and John Willingham both white running for Mayor Of Memphis,And Herman Morris whose black entering the race by the end of the month,Which of the white candidates will be able to get enough black votes to even come close to being a viable candidate?

Memphis is a city that is 70% or more black which means that no white candidate can win without strong black support. Chumney seems to be the favorite against Willingham,But will she be able to pull more black votes than Willie herenton and Herman Morris? I doubt it. When the dust settles Memphis is still a very racist city and many blacks are saying that they will not make the "Steve Cohen" mistake again. Many blacks say that if Memphis is a majority black city then the mayor should be black.

While I believe that Carol will get 50% or more of the white vote,I'm not sure at this point how much of the black vote will stay in her corner if Morris proves to be a viable candidate that blacks who are opposed to herenton can say "We can still have a black mayor". Even though Willingham has no chance of winning he will get some votes which will dilute Chumney and make the Mayor's race a Herenton and Morris match up. No white candidate can win without an agenda that benefits the black community. There will have to be a stance on crime and development, A plan to not just spend money downtown but in the heart of the black community.

But it's going to be interesting to see how Chumney and Willingham campaigns in the trenches of South Memphis with the likes of Morris and Herenton. Can Carol stand toe to toe with Willie without freezing up. Will she have what it takes to fight in a fight where she may get a bloody nose? No one in the race can expect Willie to play fair, But will they be able to handle his blows, Or can they come up with a knock out punch of their own?

Why Hasn't Larry Godwin Came To The Defense Of His Officers If The Killing Of Lee Caples Was Justified?

I'm hearing from my sources within the City Of Memphis Police Department that the killing of Lee Caples on Friday night in Hollywood may not have be a justified shooting and that the two rookie cops involved may have violated policy.

Normally when there is a shooting Police Director Larry Godwin is quick to make a statement concerning that shooting,But as of yet he's made no public statement. It's normal for a officer involved in a shooting to receive 3 days of routine leave,But the officers involved in this shooting have yet to return to work.

Lee Caples 58,has no prior criminal record,His only violations are those of a traffic nature. Caples who has been robbed in the past carried a pistol for his protection,And anyone in their right mind would not be on that corner without some form of protection. But what really happened is what has Memphis Police worried.

There is a concern that the officers working in a "Plainclothes" capacity may not have properly Identified themselves. In a "Plainclothes" capacity an officers badge and weapon should be shown,If not this is a violation of policy. Even in plainclothes the public should be able to ID a police officer. There is a difference in working "Plainclothed" and "Undercover". The undercover officer would not have presented him or herself as an police officer, But played along with dressed officer either in plainclothes or uniform.

The question is did the officers have their Guns and badges in plain view and did they properly ID themselves,Or did they just tell the old man you perhaps thought that someone one a corner known for robbing and even killings think that someone was in trouble and wanted to help. I'm told that if Godwin thought the department was in the clear he would have made an announcement by now. Is there a Coverup in progress?

You may wonder why I would ask if there is a cover up in progress,well it's because I've seen it happen. I was very much involved in a Police Cover up that was tried several years ago in the beating death of Denvey Buckley who was murdered by Police officers on rembert street in front of his home.

This beating took place on April 19,2003. Buckley who was a mental patient was beaten on his porch and as he tried to get away was beaten in the middle of Rembert street. After I pushed for months on my radio show and would not let it go the five officers involved where charged with Excessive force,Non compliance of regulations, and personal conduct charges,and dismissed from the force by then Police Director Larry Godwin. In fact I carried the pictures of the Denvey Buckley's deceased body before it was prepared on my website to make sure that that they could not deny any of the bruises of the fact that he throat had been crushed by a police baton.

Police officers have the right to defend themselves,But they do not have the right to murder the innocent. There was no reason for this family man who has no history of crime to just start shooting at the Police. Somethings wrong with this picture but I intend to look further.

Who Really Gives A Damn If The Grizzlies Leave?

First The City and County Mayors along with City Council and County Commission decide to build a $250 million arena downtown that's still completely finished without the approval of the citizens of Memphis for the worst basketball team that could be found. Than they give that team's owner first right of refusal on any acts coming into Memphis that want to use another venue. This act of political madness caused the close of the Pyramid which there is still a debt. Now it's being reported that the team may move to Las Vegas.

Herman Morris Says "Don't Let The Suit Fool You"

Herman Morris who grew up in the projects and streets of South Memphis,Told me this evening that he has never lost touch with his roots and that he's ready to represent not only the lofty but the common man as well. Morris plans to officially announce his intent to become the next Mayor of Memphis before the end of the month.

It was first announced on this site last Summer that Morris would be a candidate,And he reassured me that there is no doubt that he's running. Morris states that even though he's after votes and not dollars he will have enough money in his campaign to get his message out to every corner of this city.

Morris who has returned to private practice as an attorney has no fear of debating any candidate for the office of mayor,And looks forward to sharing his message and vision of how Memphis will become a greater city. When I asked him about the number of persons who have entered the race and those rumored to run, He stated that anyone who qualifies has the right to run and the citizens of Memphis will decide whose best to lead them.

Rumor Has It That Jack Sammons Wants To Slick His Way To The Mayor's Office

City Councilman Jack Sammons who sat in the Council Chambers doing last week's meeting reading the CA is rumored to want to run for Mayor of Memphis. But why? What has he done as a councilman that would warrant a promotion to the mayor's office? What has he brought before the council that has saved taxpayers money? Did he object to the building of the FEDEX forum? has he fought to find out what happened to the $6million floor missing from the FEDEX FORUM GARAGE?

What has Sammons proposed to the city council that may help reduce crime. In a city that is majority black,What has he done to help the black community? I know, As President of AMPRO, a Black hair care product company he has shown black women how to slick there hair with his hair gel. Did I say slick? What a great word for another do nothing poli-trick-an.

FOR A PEOPLE POWERED DEMOCRATIC PARTY


On March 3rd, the citizens of Shelby County who call themselves “Democrats” will have an opportunity to decide the fate of Shelby County Democrats for the next election cycle. More importantly, the Democrats that attend the convention will have an opportunity to reshape and remold local government for the next decade. After spending the last 25 years working with party leadership, raising money, managing campaigns, and casting my votes for Democrats, I have announced my candidacy for the Chairmanship of the Party. In response to this announcement, I have become the target of some of the most vicious, personal, and racist comments that any single person should be forced to endure. However I have never been weak, fearful, or without compassion for the opinions of the populace, even when 90% of such comments are undeserved and without merit. Accordingly I have accepted the challenge to set the record straight and make myself available to answer any legitimate concern or comment. I will not dignify intentional ignorance with a response. I will make every effort to respond to those concerns that appear sincere in nature and are directed to me with the identity of the inquisitor available. I have absolutely nothing to hide, and will be open honest and forthcoming. By same token, I simply ask that those of you who are interested in the Party, give me the same righteous honest opportunity that I am giving you.

WHO IS JAY BAILEY?
I am the eldest son of Walter and Elsie Bailey. My father is a lawyer and lifelong public servant. My mother is one of the most dedicated educators that this community has ever known. She recently retired from service as the Principal at Booker T. Washington High School, and now serves in the administration at Memphis City Schools.

I was born on the campus of Southern University of Baton Rouge, where my father was a star football player; and later attended law school. My father and uncle (D’Army ) had both been involved in the politics of civil rights and were targeted by the Governor of Louisiana for removal from that State school as “agitators”. D’Army was not allowed to return. Walter was too valuable too the athletic program, so they allowed him to return with the stipulation that he not live with the undergrad students. This is the background from which I find my roots.

After graduating form High School, I attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. I graduated from UT with a B.A. in Political Science in a little more than three years. I worked for 18 months for U.S. Senator Jim Sasser as a staffer on the Intergovernmental Relations Sub-Committee. I then returned to Memphis and attended Memphis State University School of Law. While at Memphis State I became the President of the Student Government. The team that we put together also included David Upton (President of Campus Democrats), Maura Black-Sullivan (Vice-President and currently a Shelby County Election Commissioner), Gale Chumney (sister of Carol Chumney), and 32 other Democrats from the student body. We were proud of our ability to take control of the politics on a campus that had been under the control of “Young Republicans” for years. Subsequently I went into the practice of law. After beginning the practice of law, there was a very brief period in my life where I found myself involved in substance abuse. Contrary to some of the comments I have heard and read, I have never used or even seen crack cocaine. However, there were other drugs abused over a 5 year period that resulted in some disappointing actions on my part. In 1996 I cleaned myself up and regained my perspective on life and spirituality. I became an ordained elder in the Church of God In Christ, founded the Temple Recovery Program, trained at the Gorski Institute for Relapse Prevention, and likewise served as a monitor assisting other impaired professionals who had similar experiences. I have never denied this history and I refuse to allow anyone one to minimize the gains and accomplishments that I have attained and assisted others in attaining. From 1995 through 2003, as a result of my involvement as a volunteer in several such programs, I was subjected to random screens. Until I decided to join the leadership of our Democratic Party, I never had anyone question my sobriety.

For the past 12 years, I have served in numerous capacities in various levels of government. Please review the record. In 1997, I joined Rita Clark’s administration as the Community Outreach Representative for the 1998 Reappraisal Cycle. This position required my interaction with community leaders and neighborhood associations throughout Shelby County. After an unfortunate incident involving a questionable appraisal, I served as the liason between the District Attorney General and the Assessor in order to insure that there was adequate information passed so that the public could see that the Assessor was clearly without culpability and had done absolutely nothing wrong. Later, I became the Director of Appeals and Human Resources. Together Rita Clark and I changed the face of that office. We made Democratic appointments and increased the staff compliment of Blacks by 42%.

In 1996 I began competing in Japanese and Okinawan martial arts. I fight competitively in full contact tournaments. I earned Black Belt ranks in Japanese Shotokan Karate and Okinawan Shudokan Karate. I am a member of the San Ten Traditional Karate Association headquartered in California. I am also fluent in several kobudo (weapons) arts, such as nunchuku, bo staff, and a little kendo. I currently teach and train at Harris Martial Arts Institute at the Bert Ferguson Community Center in Cordova.

In 1999 I decided to return to private practice. I initially hung my shingle in a small North Memphis office. Later In 2001 I joined my dad at the Walter Bailey Law Firm. I have volunteered my services to the Democratic Party on numerous instances. Sometimes covering the bills to the tune of thousands of dollars without asking for reimbursement. I have also filed numerous lawsuits to right public wrongs. Some of the suits include suits against the Election Commission when many of us felt that they were absolutely wrong on certain issues. I am not a reactionary and I have never taken on an issue that I considered frivolous. I currently serve as an Bredeson appointee on the State Board of Equalization.

WHY JAY BAILEY?
Personal attacks aside. I have always fought for the issues that this party considers imperative to a better America, Tennessee, and Shelby County. I have never crossed Party lines in order to please certain power brokers; and I have always stood strong even when I knew that I was in the minority.

Currently our Party has no foothold on the political infrastructure in this county. The heads of our tickets were able to cross party lines and endorse Republican nominees without fear of reprisal. As a result we lost every single race of interest in the past two election cycles. We allowed the competing party to undermine and infiltrate our leadership. We abandoned organized labor, and our leadership has never forced our elected officials to stand firm with the Party when making appointments, procuring contracts and services, and voting on issues important to the people have been loyal to our Party. I propose the following agenda:

As Chairman I will create a labor initiative, that will focus on the support of prevailing wages in local government, and other issues relative to protecting the rights of organized labor. This will be of highest priority.

I will meet with our elected officials, who were elected under the mantle of the Democratic Party and insist that they begin carrying the party platform. This might not be an easy task, however this is essential to the impowerment of our Party.

I pledge to stand firm against any party leader that crosses party lines for the purpose of endorsing Republicans. This must stop.

Under my leadership the party will organize candidate recruitment in order to offer this community the best that the Democrats have to offer. I will not be afraid to ask a candidate to consider his/her real chances in light of the reality of local politics. However, I will also not attack, stifle, or suppress the youth of our party when the seek access and opportunity.

I will marshal the meetings so that they are not disruptive and every measure receives proper consideration.

Finally, I will not let you down. I want to be Chairman. I am ready to serve.

LOOK AT TOWARD THE FUTURE

I was not recruited to run for the Chairmanship. I want to be Chairman. When I donated my hard earned dollars to the various Democrats running for office over the past decade, and when I donated money to the Party, I never once had anyone give me my money back and say “you have too much baggage to donate to this party”. When I offered free legal services to various causes throughout this community, I never heard one person say “you have had prior disciplinary actions as a lawyer so we will not accept your services”. When I stood up at the Executive Committee meeting and suggested that we needed to support our nominees in a law suit that took 9 days to try, and thousands of dollars in billable hours, I never heard one Committee Member stand up and question my background or qualifications while I was present and able to respond. Only cowards throw the rock and hide the hand. Its only when I say its my turn to lead this party, that certain forces now suggest that I am undesirable.

I say to each of my detractors, here is the record. Now put your community record against mine, put your agenda against mine, and open your closet like I have, and lets see who should serve as the leader of this party. Some of the people who are hiding from the truth, and seeking party position, voted for Republicans all the way through 2002. Some voted for and openly supported the Republican nominees for Sheriff and Attorney General. Although I am personal friend with many of you, I say that you have abandoned your right to lead our people. Now lets get away from the rock throwing and get to the real issue. You are afraid to have a real Democrat who happens to be Black as your leader. You are afraid that your friendships with the Republican leadership will be exposed and brought to an abrupt end. You are not genuine in your service to this Party.

Now that I have been available to you I hope that those of you who do not know me will catch hold to the vision and attend the caucus on March 3rd at Airways Middle School. Join Team Bailey and lets take this party to another level of leadership, and make it a PEOPLE POWERED PARTY.

The Power Of Prayer

I have a brother who is very ill who has been in the MED since Sunday. In fact I thought that I would have had to make funeral arrangements by now But God being the God that he is has allowed him to come from ICU where they gave him no hope to a room at the MED where he is still very much ill. I have not mentioned this all week because it was personal and something that I had to deal with,But since a poster who I know has commented several time this week about it I thought that I would ask those of you who believe in prayer to remember my brother in your prayers.

My brother's name is Glenn Jordan,Glenn who is 43 has led a very troubled life going to prison at age 16 for a crime that he took the blame for because he didn't want to be a snitch, while the guy who committed the crime walked around bragging about how someone had went to prison in his place. During those 10 years he was shot in prison.yes they have guns there, stabbed 14 times an saw more horrible things then most of us will ever see.

Getting out he found it hard to survive in the free world, And found himself violating his parole and going back and forth to prison. And sadly I was so caught up in becoming, that I didn't know to come to him and be what he needed, Which is something that I will go to my grave regretting. I didn't realize how scarred and hurt he was until tonight while for two hours non stop he released a burden that he has carried all his life.

In December he started to feel bad,But wouldn't go to the doctor,I told me of how he didn't care weather he lived or died, But finally I got him to say that he would go for me and I took him to the MED. Upon arriving an having test ran he found that his kidneys were just about gone and that he would have to be placed on dialysis three times a week for the rest of his life. Something that he found to be hard to cope with. He told my mother that he wasn't sure that he wanted to live in this condition.


On Sunday as I prepared for a SuperBowl party my mother called and said that something was wrong with him. I told her I was on the way,But before I could get there my youngest brother who had arrived called and said he was having seizures. i told him to call 911 and i increased my speed and made it from Cordova to New Chicago in 12 minutes. My brother was having what I found out was rigors where every muscle in his body was contracting.

I stayed with him all evening with the doctors telling me that he was a very sick man and may not make it. I finally went home and as soon as I walked through the door the doctor called and wanted to know what I wanted them to do WHEN he stops breathing. I think that that was the hardest question that I have ever been asked,a question I didn't want to have an answer for, But one i knew i had to answer. I told them not to break his ribs do the best they could but if it was God's will for him to die there was nothing that they could do. I prayed like I hadn't prayed in a long time,But I knew my brother's life was in God's hands.

On Monday morning I was at the MED bright and early to meet with the doctors who gave no hope for him at all. I left the Med and went by E.H. Ford's to talk to Ed about funeral arrangements. Ed wasn't there I told Myrna Ford Ed's wife that the doctors hadn't given my brother up and that I would probably be making funeral arrangements.

But as I got back in my car a voice spoke to me and said " You've been praying for your brothers healing, But you went to the see Ed. Who do you want to come see about your brother,Me or Ed?" I answered 'You Lord" The doctors had told me that he had TB, Kidney failure, and a deadly infection in his blood. They put him on a breathing machine which is used for life support. But Monday night I along with one of my aunts Carolyn Ballard, prayed for his deliverance,knowing that I need all the prayers that I can get in for myself I asked God to forget about me and remember my brother.

The next morning I went in and the Doctors stated that he didn't have TB, and that the infection in his blood was caused by the part that had been placed in him for dialysis which they thought could be fought. Wednesday Morning they told me that they were going to take him off the breathing machine but that he was still a very sick man. Thursday morning he was taken out of ICU and placed in a room.

Glenn Wendell Jordan is still a very sick man who had losted the will to live,thinking that his life had been such a wreck that neither God or man had any use for him. I have spent the past couple of days telling him that God is a God of second chances and that his best years of life is yet to come.And not to give up on God because God had not given up on him.

Tonight as I entered his room he told me "Rev, I've been praying and I don't want to die and go to hell" he shared some things with me about his life that totally shocked me. he spoke for two hours of the hurt and pain that life has brought to him. But my greatest moment was when he told me how much he loved me and thanks for being with him through what he's going through.

So I'm asking you to remember him in your prayers. I know that many of you take any and every chance to attack me and that's alright I chose to place myself in that position, But this post is not about me but a 43 year old man that life has not been kind to and now finds himself a very sick man. forget about your dislike for me for just a second and ask God to give Glenn Jordan a second chance.

I would like to thank the staff at the MED for being so kind, And to a very special friend who himself lost a son several years ago for just being a friend and listening.

Is the Mayor"s Race Chumney's To Win?

I;m hearing people all over the city excited by the official announcement that Carol Chumney is running for mayor of Memphis. A friend called and stated that his grandmother stated "This time I'm voting for Carol Chumney". By far as of now Chumney has to be considered the front runner of those who have announced.

But I wonder will John Willingham who has announced that he also is running will full votes away. Will Willingham be the spoiler in this race for freshness in city Hall. Herenton's white base has eroded, My prediction is that he will only get about 25% of the white vote and that may be giving him to much. If this is true that 75% that has to be split between Chumney, Willingham, And Dr. Mark Rodebush. Does to many white candidates hurt Chumney campaign?

I think that there will be some split but I also believe that many are taking this race to seriously to throw away votes. Many like myself don't believe that Willingham will have the numbers to make himself a viable candidate. Dr. Mark who I know wants to make a change but he doesn't have a chance of winning. So I think that Chumney will receive 50% of the white vote.

There is also the rumor that former County mayor and Sheriff Bill Morris will enter the race. But with there being a relationship in the past between Herenton and Morris some are already saying that Morris is really Herenton's white candidate to farther split the white vote giving him a better edge.

If Herman Morris who has been stating since last Spring that he was running does not announce soon it will be to late for him to gather momentum. As the only black candidate rumored so far to actually be considering running he will do well in the Black community and get some white vote,But he will not nearly carry as much of the white vote as Chumney. Morris will also have to deal with political baggage from MLG&W which will become a issue in the campaign.

I think that at this point knowing who the players presently happen to be,Chumney chances are the best.But she must realize that Herenton will not lay down and neither will he fight fair,So I hope she's up to the fight because she won't win without shedding some blood.

Enough Is Enough Meets

About twenty people met on Saturday afternoon at Piccadilly's on Mt.Moriah to discuss trying to make positive changes in the community. Included at the meeting was State Representative Eddie Neal and Shep Wilburn. This small mixed crowd discussed how it's time to stop depending on poli-trick-ans to save us,and set a course for ourselves.

It was decided that the group will create an agenda of community concerns with a grade pointing system,Where candidates for office can be graded according to there answers. This group has plans to be very involved in the campaigns of those who are interviewed and pass the grading. Even though the group was small the desire to make Memphis a better place for all was large.

The "Enough Is Enough" group will meet again on the 3rd Saturday in March.

John Willingham Should Run For City Council,Not For City Mayor

Former County Commissioner John Willingham has plans of running for city mayor again. In 2003 in his bid for mayor Willingham lost to Herenton by 50,000 votes. Willingham whose a republican does not have the support of the leadership of his party because he does not play ball with the agendas of that body. He's known for going against the wishes of the local republican party.

The local GOP group did not support his bid for County Mayor,Because the republican leadership was supporting democrat A.C.Wharton. In his bid for mayor in 2003 he didn't get there support because the then chairman of the Republican Party,Kemp Conrad had cut a deal where if Willie Herenton endorsed Lamar Alexander then the republicans wouldn't place a candidate in the race for city Mayor,But Willingham messed up those plans. By the way Kemp Conrad and Rodney Herenton were roomies in college. In fact it was a Alexander fund raiser that Rodney and wife Andrea were leaving the night she rear ended and killed Michael Simmon.

While the Republican Party leadership does not care for Willingham,he was a good Commissioner. I met with John many times on many of the issues of Shelby County,We had breakfast numerous times to discuss the mishandling of the FEDEX FORUM. Willingham has a seep desire to right the wrong of building this facility that is not completely finished on the inside. Willingham also wants to discover what happen to the missing floor of the garage that costed taxpayers $6million dollar, But he want be able to do that running for mayor because he can't win.

The odds are greatly against his bid for mayor,Including the factor that Carol Chumney is in the race and whatever white vote he would be counting on will most likely go to her. He doesn't have the strenght in the black community to pull enough votes from Herenton or Herman Morris to win, So the mayor's race would be better left along by Willingham. But there is hope for this brave warrior.

John Willingham in my humble opinion should run for the City Council where he could really make an impact. This is the position where he could take his mission of finding out what happened to the missing floor of the garage to. Because whoever decided to change the blueprints had to have total contract signing power which only the Mayor of Memphis has.

Living where he lives Willingham could run against either Tom Marshall or Jack Sammons. In Super District seat 9, Or he could run for the District 2 position presently held by Brent Taylor. Its rumored that Taylor will not be seeking re-election to spend more time with his funeral home business. With this being an anti-incumbent year Willingham could run a strong campaign against either Marshall or Sammons. He could asked the questions that council members have not answered concerning the Forum. Plus with the numbers he keeps in his head he will out debate either of these two political misfits.

John and I have been at odds since I told him that I couldn't support his bid for city Mayor,because he can't win,But this year's election is bigger than friendships it's about change. I couldn't be his friend if I told him something I didn't believe could happen. But I do believe that John Willingham should run for the City Council. I also believe that with John On the council a lot of the trash that has swept under the rug would be found. By the way John I presently live in the districts that you would be running in for City Council, And you've got my vote.

In 2003 The Board Of Education Had Concerns Over There Being A Conflict Of Interest In Hiring Tom Marshall

In 2003 the board of Memphis City Schools were concerned about there being a conflict of interest in giving a consultant contract to Tom Marshall. Here's the portion of the school board's minutes from thereMay 5, 2003 meeting.


Construction Consulting Services Request for Proposals
Commissioner Lewis moved to approve and was seconded by Commissioner Jobe.

Commissioner Lewis stated that she was the author of the referenced item. She noted that she did not object to the staff supplying the Board with the seven proposals versus the top three firms that were submitted. She asked where would the district go from there. Superintendent Watson responded that if he could not fund the request he would report back to the Board. He stated that he would be charged to review his budgets. Mr. Bumpus responded that after the firm has been selected that payment could be negotiated. Commissioner Lewis explained that her intent of the resolution was "per hour" and consulting service as the Board needed, not as the firm expected.

Commissioner Robinson addressed the issue and noted that in the CIP Minutes of April 18, 2003 that had been distributed at the previous Board meeting, she asked staff to rank the seven firms in order and that the proposal were provided in the Board's office for review. She stated that she had hoped that the cost would be included and the purpose was to reveal the ranking criteria.

Commissioner Hooks noted that Commissioner Lewis' resolution was an effort to restore public confidence in capital improvement projects. He noted that the number one firm was a team or professionals with a diverse background who could help guide the Board on providing the best "bang for the buck."

Commissioner Hirsh asked who served on the committee that evaluated the firms. Mr. Bumpus responded along with himself, Mr. James Bacchus, principal of Whitehaven High; Mr. Roger Girard, Director of Maintenance; Ms. Richie and Mr. Ken Ruby a buyer in the Division of Purchasing. Commissioner Hirsh asked would one firm be selected or a rotate mechanism be put in place and if the per hour rate has been established. Commissioner Robinson responded that the staff recommended EFS and the contract would be negotiated after the Board selected the firm.
Commissioner Jobe suggested that continuity issues be address to avoid bringing new vendors up-to-date of projects. She asked if the number one firm was City Council's Tom Marshall and if whether his firm's involvement would cause a conflict of interest and to avoid public scrutiny. Commissioner Sandridge expressed that he was tired of justifying spending monies.
Commissioner Sandridge noted that the firms had been ranked. He urged the Board members to select a firm. Commissioner Sandridge moved to hire EFS (O.T. Marshall) and was seconded by Commissioner Lewis.
Commissioner Halbert noted that the report did not have an action for the Board to adopt and suggested that a recommendation be presented from the staff or committee. Commissioner Robinson responded that staff did what she asked and apologized for not being able to meet with staff on Friday, which is why the report was presented in that manner.

Commissioner Jobe asked if cost was considered in the ranking process. Mr. Bumpus responded it was not but would be negotiated and presented to the Board. Commissioner Jobe expressed concerns with cost not being factored and asked Superintendent Watson to report back to the Board. Superintendent Watson responded that Mr. Bumpus has many years of negotiating contracts and would notify him if he had any problems negotiating the contract.

Commissioner Lewis reminded that AIA is nationwide and provides the cost of architectural services. She moved to direct the Superintendent to negotiate a rate schedule in line with AIA standards and return same to the Board for whatever action deemed appropriate and was seconded by Commissioner Jobe.

Is Memphis City Schools Trying To Protect Tom Marshall?

I asked Renee Malone Of Memphis City Schools two weeks ago to pull the amount of money that has been payed to City Councilman Tom Marshall for the last 20 years that he has been working both for Memphis City Schools and the City of Memphis. I'm sure that the system has a record of the millions that has been paid out to the GODFATHER OF POLITICAL ETHICS. Memphis City Schools wouldn't be trying to stall and protect Marshall would they?

As a sitting council member who votes on the budget for the money he has received from the school system, he has a conflict. Marshall also had a conflict in building new schools, he votes to sell city property that schools will be built on that he makes money off of. Isn't this a conflict? Dr. Johnson the citizens of this city need to know how much has his influence as a City Councilman paid off.

If the FED's don't come after Marshall it's going to be real hard for them to convict Rickey Peete and Edmund Ford.

Why Should The Shelby County Democratic Party Expect Loyalty?

I was asked by one of the posters Why do I want a take over of the Shelby County Democratic Party when I openly supported Terry Rowland for State Senate whose a republican. That's a very simple question that brings about a very simple answer. The democratic party had no one to offer for the senate race.

The party only endorses incumbents and the picks of democratic power brokers. It was a total injustice for the party to give us Ophelia Ford just because she wanted the seat to be passed on like a family heirloom. The Democratic party presented a person with no history of service, A person who never presented a platform, Never debated, A person who thought that just because she was Ford the seat belong to her.

I supported Terry, who I did not know until he ran,But now consider a friend because the democrats think that they can throw anything at the people and they will accept it. But while you're asking me about my support of a republican,Ask the party why they allow elected democrats to openly endorse republicans, Ask them why white democrats cross over and vote for white republicans over black democrats. It happened in last years Sheriff's race between Reginald French a black democrat and Mark Luttrell.

White democrats will use black democrats to get their candidates elected but will refuse to return the favor. White democrats were happy for the black community to jump on the Steve Cohen bandwagon because they knew he didn't have a snowball's chance of winning without the black vote. The same group that thought that it was such a shame that Jake Ford had a GED, Never said a mumbling word about Beverly Marrero having a GED. Many black democrats thought that Cohen and his followers would support Spence as a thank you for getting him to the halls of congress. Cohen's endorsement of Marrero will come back to bite him in the butt in two years.

Until the party has the type of leadership that it deserves, There is no reason to be loyal to this party. The party is presently ran by "DEMOPUBLICAN" Democrats in republican clothing. The chairman Matt Khun was raised in a republican household and he wants us to believe that he's a democrat. There is no strenght in the party,they have no control over elected democrats that they give their endorsement to, In fact they are so weak that other democrats create ballots with different endorsee's than the official party.

The democratic party is full of cronyism the party does not seek out the best candidates to serve the community, But endorse those who have kissed the sorry asses of the inside power brokers.There is no concern within this party about the people it's all about their personal agendas.

So until we have a true party that promotes the values of democrats, by bringing forth candidates that will be public servants and not just self serving, I will continue to vote for the person who I think will get the job done. But after March 3, there is hope,there will be a change in leadership and a plan presented to change the focus of the party,giving it back to the community.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH MEETING THIS SATURDAY AT 3PM

The Enough is Enough meeting will take place at 3pm instead of 12 noon, At the Piccadilly's on Mt. Moriah New management had forgotten about another meeting that takes place there each second Saturday. After this meeting this Saturday the meetings will take place each third Saturday.

The focus this week will be on the City Council and how to totally replace its members. There will be several people who have expressed their thoughts about running present. This group will be instrumental in getting information to the public concerning candidates that are running. This group will not just embrace anyone that wants to run, But those who have a history of service and the means to run a campaign.


Presently I know that there are persons preparing to run against Myron Lowery,Rickey Peete, Madeline Cooper Taylor, And E.C. Jones. There are other names in the wind that have mentioned running against several other of the present council. It's time for a change, and that change starts with the people of the community

Javier Bailey Will Answer Questions About His Bid For Chairman Of The Shelby County Democratic Party

In reading the half truths and lies presented by some present members of the Shelby County Democratic Party including the likes of Mal hooker and Desi Franklin,Concerning attorney Javier Bailey and his run for the chairmanship of the party. He has decided to allow the public to question him concerning any statements that have been made about him on this site.

Bailey is preparing a very blunt statement that will post here on Sunday, You will be able to ask any questions that you choose concerning alleged drug use and suspensions. Bailey will respond here on the site to your questions. Here's the ground rules if you're bold enough to want to attack or make a claim than make that claim using your name and not be a coward and post anonymously. All attacks that are not questions that have no name will be deleted.

There is a fear that among certain members of the party who want to continue their "Politics as usual" games that they will be removed,And they will be. White democrats do not support black candidates, And this has been proven over and over again and will cross over party lines to vote for a white republican. Summary of procedures for 2007 Shelby County Democratic Party Reorganization

Ward and precinct meetings, Airways Jr. High School Campus on March 3, 2007, with registration from 9:00am to 10:45am, caucus meetings at 11:00am. Parking is free. The Campus is located at 2601 Ketchum just east of Ketchum & Airways @ I240 “North” Airport exit; it can easily be seen from the I240 Interstate.

• Must be a registered voter in his/her precinct.

• Must sign pledge of support for the Democratic Party. NOTE: Voters who voted in a 2006 Republican Primary MAY participate in caucus meetings to elect Delegates or Alternates but are not eligible to be elected as Executive Committeepersons.

• Go to meeting of your precinct in your house district (Look for signs). Wait for instructions from district chair, then separate participants into wards and precincts.

• Elect a chairperson, who will conduct elections for delegates and alternates to the county convention to be held March 31st. Note, W/P chairperson IS NOT automatically a delegate. He/she must run for a delegate position. Note: persons elected as PRECINCT CHAIRMAN are also relied upon over the next two years to select replacement Executive Committeemen from your house district in the event vacancies occur.

• Elect delegates and alternates. Each ward/precinct is entitled to at least one delegate and one alternate. The number of delegates allocate to each precinct will be printed on the Certification Form entrusted to the Precinct Chairman. Number of males/females should be as equal as possible with the difference not greater than one.

• Certification: Ward/precinct chairs shall certify results on a form to be delivered to your House District Chair. House District Chairs shall collect and deliver ward/precinct certifications to the Convention Committee Chair. No certification sheets or forms shall be taken from your House District’s election meeting/area. The forms shall be delivered to your House District Chair or Convention Committee Chair upon completion of elections and certification of your precinct elections.

• Adjourn immediately after certification/affixation of Precinct Chairperson signature. (Only the Delegates & Alternates return 3 weeks later at the COUNTY CONVENTION.)



County Reorganization Convention, Airways Jr. High Campus, March 31, 2007, registration for previously elected delegates and alternates starts at 12:00pm. Convention starts at 1:15pm.

• Delegates/alternates meet as a whole to conduct any business to come before the county convention.

• Delegates/alternates convene in state house district to elect members of the Shelby County Democratic Executive Committee.

• Each house district shall elect at least 2 and as many as 5 committee members from that House District. Committee members must be as evenly as possible divided male/female.

County Committee Meeting: The Chairman of the Shelby County Democratic Party shall call the first meeting of the newly elected Executive Committee immediately following the closing of the convention for the sole purpose of electing the next Chairman. The remaining officers and at-large member officers will be elected at the next regularly scheduled executive committee meeting.

Who The Hell Does Tom Marshall Think He Is?

Tom Marshall as the new chairman set the rules to select a new council member to replace Tajuan Stout Marshall. He required that resumes be in by a certain deadline. Patrice Robinson, Jennings Bernard, Coleman Thompson, Ed Stanton Jr,And Ike Griffith Followed the requirements of the council. These were the only person who abided by the request of the council.

On the night before the selection was to take place, Stanton And Robinson pulled out, Leaving Thompson,Bernard, and Griffith as the only choices to be made. The day of the selection after finding out that Stanton and Robinson were no longer contenders Marshall violated his own rule and reopened the process,telling fellow council members to get on the phone and call in others who may want to serve.

This action by Marshall was totally unfair and appears racist in that since he knew that he would have no control over the men applying for the position. So he went for a member of the NAACP a group that's doing nothing in this community, and pulls out sleepy headed Madeline Cooper.

At today's City Council meeting after being attacked by Bernard and Griffith for being treated unfairly by opening up a process that had been closed Marshall states that he reopened the process BECAUSE THOSE THAT HE THOUGHT WERE THE FRONT RUNNERS WERE NO LONGER INTERESTED. But Who the hell does he think he is? Does the $4million dollar man have a GOD COMPLEX?

What would make Marshall think that Patrice Robinson and Ed Stanton Jr were the front runners? Did he think because the city tried to pull some strings to get Robinson whose an employee of MLG&W in line for the job, that she was a front runner? And what has Stanton done that would make him a front runner?

Plain and simple Marshall saw three strong black men who would not kiss his ass,And would not go along to get along, And could not stand being challenged by them. Marshall's statement which I have on tape is purely the words of a liar. A liar yes because he stated what the rules were and broke his word. Not only is Marshall a liar but a deceiver who himself has decided to play judge in the cases of Rickey Peete and Edmund Ford, by not allowing them to chair any committees, While he's guilty of the very same crimes that they have been indicted for.

The rest of the council members are as guilty of unfair treatment as Oscar Tom Marshall, Because they allowed this racist idiot to violate his own rules and not calling him out for it. The very statement that HE decided that the front runners were no longer in the race, should bother every one in this city. If five people followed the rules and two got out shouldn't the other three been the one's left in the selection process. And Tommy if you have a problem with anything I've stated I'll be at the next council meeting call me out on it, But just give me my two minutes to reply

The Shitty, I Mean City Council At Work

Memphis is in desperate need of leadership,Because when we look at what we have sitting on the City Council representing us it leaves a lot to be desired. I attended todays Council meeting,It's a horror show in the making between Tom Marshall's corny jokes and members voting just to be voting the business of the people is lost to persons who are just taking up space.

Today was the first meeting for Madeline Cooper-Taylor,how does she spend it? Nodding. This is the person that Tom Marshall violated the rules that he sat to be on the council. Not one time did she open her mouth and say anything about any issue on the agenda. But she voted,Did she vote because she knew what was going on,or because she's voting the way masta Tom tells her. she only woke up when Marshall shook her and told her I was taking her picture.

Than there's old Jack Sammons who fines more interest in reading the newspaper, Than being attentive and carrying out the business of the summer. All these clowns need to go. how can you sat on the council while citizens are voicing their concern. Its time for OPERATION CLEAN SWEEP, It's time to go after every member presently sitting there and replace them with someone who gets plenty of rest and can wait to get home to read the paper.


And oh, let me not forget While the council was dealing with development issues,Rickey Peete who had recused himself on voting on any of those issues had a sit down meeting with his attorney Handel Durham.

Witnesses Say That Andrea Herenton Had Been Drinking The Night She Rear Ended And Killed Michael Simmon

On May 29,2003 just hours before Michael Simmon would lose his life after being struck from the rear by Andrea Herenton, She was, according to witnesses having herself a grand old time drinking alcohol. It seems she and her husband Rodney Herenton were a attending a Republican Fund Raiser for Lamar Alexander at the home of Ann Truiett.

My source who was there states that Andrea had more than one glass of whatever her choice of alcohol was for the evening,And could have been in no shape to be driving. the biggest question is Why wasn't she given an alcohol test? Why did the pictures from the wreck disappear? Why was the car driven by Simmon get destroyed the very next day? Why did it take 5 hours to get a police report from Andrea? And why did she change her story?

Michael Simmon was tested for drugs and alcohol after his death,Why because the coverup team was looking to be able to place the blame on him,But the test came back negative. It is my belief that Michael Simmon's death was caused by a DRUNK DRIVER who happens to be the daughter in law of the man who controls the police, and has the power to cover up her murdering ways.

Two black coaches make the Super Bowl

CHICAGO (Jan. 21, 2007) -- It took 41 years for a black head coach to make it all the way to the Super Bowl.

Lovie Smith did it Jan. 21 on a snowy afternoon in Chicago. Four hours later, his good pal and mentor Tony Dungy joined him. Not one, but two black coaches meeting in the nation's biggest sporting spectacle.

It's historic. And it's about time.

Change has come appallingly slow. But now two of the most decent, deserving men have pushed the NFL forward.

And that is a very good thing.

"It means a lot," Dungy said after his Indianapolis Colts beat New England 38-34 in the AFC title game. "I'm very proud of being an African-American. I'm very proud of Lovie."

And Smith equally so of Dungy.

"We have to play someone and, in my perfect world, I would like to see the Colts be that team," Smith said after his Chicago Bears pummeled the New Orleans Saints 39-14.

"Tony Dungy has done an awful lot for our game," Smith said. "He hasn't had a chance to coach in the Super Bowl. I would love to see it."

Now he will.

It wasn't all that long ago that the NFL's best jobs were off-limits to blacks. Never mind that three-quarters of the league's rosters were filled with black players. Or that there were qualified black assistants. When the time came to hire a new coach, they were passed over, time and again.

Meanwhile, white coaches who had done little to distinguish themselves in their previous jobs got additional chances. It was the old boys' network at its worst.

There's been some progress over the last two decades. It's been far slower than it should have been, and it took an active hand by former commissioner Paul Tagliabue to pull it along.

Art Shell and Dennis Green paved the way in the modern era, and Dungy took it a step further. Low key and humble, he would never be the type to grandstand and bluster about injustice. But he was honest about the league's inequalities, and knew that his success would go a long way in opening doors for others.

One of those would be Smith, Dungy's protege in Tampa Bay. He, too, led by example.

When the Bears and Colts take the field in Miami on Feb. 4, men of color who dream of being in the center on the grandest stages will see that the door has been blown wide open. Men of color who have been held back, told in words or deeds that they weren't good enough, will have not one, but two role models as they fight for equal footing.

"Being the first black coach to lead this team, of course our players knew about it and they wanted to help us make history," Smith said. "So I feel blessed to be in that position.

"I'll feel even better to be the first black coach to hold up the world championship trophy."

If he doesn't, at least he'll have the consolation of knowing Dungy will.

Whether he wanted to be or not, Dungy has long been the standard bearer for minority coaches. He was just 25 when he became the NFL's youngest assistant, taking a job on Chuck Noll's Pittsburgh staff. Three years later, he was the defensive coordinator and the odds-on favorite to advance.

Oh, he got plenty of interviews. But somebody else -- somebody white -- always got the job.

Smith's odyssey was equally bumpy: Tulsa, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Tampa Bay, St. Louis. Those were only a few of the stops he made in his 20-year journey to become a head coach.

Did both deserve shots before they were hired, Dungy by Tampa Bay in 1996 and Smith by Chicago in January 2004? Certainly. But instead of whining about life being unfair, they have done their part to make sure those who come after them will have an easier path.

"When you have an opportunity like this, of course you want to take advantage of it," Bears running back Thomas Jones said. "Any time you're the first person to do anything, regardless of your race or anything like that, it's special."

Smith and Dungy know the responsibility they carry. Unlike baseball or basketball, it is still news when a team hires a black coach in the NFL. Even bigger news when a black man is hired to run the front office.

With every big victory, they remove another thorn of prejudice.

"I'm happy for both coaches," Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney said. "I hope we get to the point we don't have to hear about it."

The day when a coach's skin is no longer an issue isn't here yet. But by making history together, Smith and Dungy have brought it a little closer.

Is This What Godwin Has On Willie?

I met with several City of Memphis Police officers which none are a part of the 20 year Captains that were either demoted or fired. These officers wanted to share with me the reason that they think that Willie herenton has allowed Police Director Larry Godwin to run amok. After listening to the officers, I thought that the concept made perfect sense,So lets take a look at it.

On May 29,2003 near the intersections of Interstate 55& 240, Andrea Herenton the daughter in law of Willie Herenton, struck a car from the rear with her 1999 Porsche Carrera. The car she struck was driven by Michael Simmon,who was driving a 1995 Ford Taurus. The impact of being struck by Herenton forced him across the median where his car was struck by 2 other cars, Michael Simmon died.

Witness state that Herenton was speeding,In fact a witness,Roy Cook stated that she was going at least 100 miles per hour and struck the Taurus with such force that the two cars stuck together for at least 100 ft. The accident report was taken % hours after the accident.

Herenton who some say had just left a party where she had been drinking couldn't get her stories straight. In the first report that she gave to police she states that she was driving the speed limit of 55 miles per hour and that she had not been drinking and that she was not on her cell phone. She went on to say that she was going west on I-40 in the left lane "When a car in the center lane hit me on the right side,I think the other car accelerated into the eastbound lane"
But two days later in another police report she states that Simmon car was crossing from the center lane into her lane when it came out of no where and struck her, She goes on to say that the car was being driven so fast that she could not see the driver. many believe that on the May night that Andrea herenton caused the death of michael Simmon.

Mayor Willie Herenton came to the scene of the accident, along with his long time friend Bobby Todd who at the time was in charge of the Traffic Division. I'm told that Bobby's boss the mayor told him to "Fix it". Todd at that time reported to Larry Godwin who was then Deputy Chief of Operations which included the Traffic Division. These officers state that Godwin was promised the Director's job if he helped Todd make the mayor happy.

Let's look at what happened the dead man was given a drug test to see if the accident could be blamed on Simmon being impaired,But the test came back negative. Andrea Herenton was never given a drug test. The next day The car that Simmon was driving was not taken in as evidence but was shredded. I know this to be true because at the time I personally checked that out. Why was this car shredded the very next day. cars sat at the impound lot for months without being shredded. but if there's something to hide than the best thing to do is shredded. And who gave the order to shred,Was it Godwin.

After Herenton fired than Police Director James Bolden for standing behind his offciers for doing their job in catching some drug dealers on Third,Where the mayor just happen to be. It was reported that Janice Pilot would be the next director and the first female director of police in Memphis. But for some reason the mayor changed his mind about Pilot, And then others say she turned the job down.

At this point Bobby Todd takes Godwin over to the mayor's office where the mayor was reminded of his promise to take care of Godwin for taking care of Andrea. Larry Godwin becomes director, And then promotes Todd to a Deputy Chief's position. Bobby Todd is the same Todd who in 2004 was charged with changing accident reports.

If this story is correct,this explains why Godwin is still on the force. Is it possible that Godwin is covering up for Herenton?

Did Pat Drive Clair To Drinking?

Why Has the story on Pat Vanderschaaf died? Last week it was the talk of the town when it was thought that poor Pat had been a bused by a black man that she allowed to live with her that was going through martial problems.

But when it was found out that Xavier Crawford had been living with her for a year and more than likely was screwing her senseless the story died. Crawford stated on WDIA that her ex-husband Clair Vanderschaaf had told her if she didn't get that "NIGGER" out of her house she wasn't receiving any more money, The story died.

Could it be that the powers that be in local mainstream media no longer thought that the story was news worthy or could it be that the white program directors and editors didn't want to shame an elderly white woman that's sleeping with a much younger Black man? If Pat and Clair is divorced how can he have anything to do with who she screws? Maybe the guys on the golf course was kidding him about his wife having a black man and how the X-Man was doing things to his Ex that he never did.

I don't know why there were no follow up stories, Like how many time has her ex been arrested for driving drunk, And why he had a court date last week right after his ex's incident with Crawford. It's rumored that Pat has had many relationship with black men including some well known black poli-trick-ans. I wonder if this is what drove Clair to be a drunk? As for how much he's paying his ex, so that she afraid now to be with her "NIGGER" maybe I need to pull their divorce decree and see.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

Several years ago when Jennings Bernard and I were on a local radio station going 4 hours of the most controversial talk in Memphis a group was formed to deal with local issues, the group was called "Enough is Enough" that group fell by the wayside because the mistake was made of trying to have leaders.

This Saturday the group will again rise to get involved in the issues that's destroying this city,But this time there are no leaders,presidents or any other officers. Just people who want to make a change. Once a month there will be the "Enough is Enough Dutch Treat Luncheon to be held at the Piccadilly's on Mt. Moriah at 12 noon.

You are invited to come and share your concerns about this city, there will be conversations about ridding ourselves of the present Mayor and City Council. This group will be involved in screening and doing background checks on potential candidates for office. To long have people just sat back and talked about making a change, It's time to make that change happen.

Is Uninformative Black Radio Losing It's Appeal

Black radio and sex is losing it's appeal. According to the latest ratings WDIA"S Fun morning Show which consists solely of topics on relationships and sex lost in the winter ratings to Tom Joyner and Steve Harvey's Morning shows. That because not only are they entertaining but informative.

The only black formatted radio talk show that deals with issues is "Real talk" with Jennings Bernard. Broadcast companies in this market want to play it safe and not ruffle any feathers. But with all the concerns that need to be address you would think that some owner or program director would have the balls to deal with controversial subject matter that effect this community.

WLOK with it's all gospel programming is barely on air when you look at their numbers. the station's only real numbers were when they were programming talk between 3-6 pm. But Art Gilliam president and general manager of the station is scared of the boogey man at City Hall so he will not entertain any program that attacks the mayor. Black radio is in the business of dumbing down the black community for profit, But it seems no one's listening to them.

My Harrison Doesn't Just Work For The F.B.I. She Works Also For G.O.D.

Normally when My Harrison,The Special Agent in charge of the FBI in this area is seen she's looking very stern and professional with a viewing audience waiting to see whose been tapped and dotted. And no one wants this lady to have their names on her lips.

But that's just one side of this charming lady who brags of being able to squat 515 lbs. This morning I got up early and drove to the Real Life Ministries located at 2212 Jackson,And Pastored by Rev. Althea Greene, Where Harrison was speaking in behalf of the church's Black History Program. She was all smiles as she left her seat and went to the pulpit. This lady who has put fear in the hearts of so many local politicians,totally embraced the congregation with her down home spirit.

Harrison who has somewhere to speak everyday this month in celebration of Black History month stated that when she got up this morning she knew that she had a lot to accomplish today started her day off with prayer,knowing that prayer would take her through. This 51 year Agent in charge seemed so in her zone in this congregation that was holding on to her every word,including me. She looked back on her life and spoke of her humble beginnings living in the projects of Florida,Where she dreamed of being in law enforcement. And even though now she has been in that field for 33 years and now is very successful in her endeavor,She states that she refuses to forget from whence she came, And every year takes her daughters back to Florida to stand where those torn down projects once stood.

Harrison's career started as a ticket writer, She went to the local Police Department in Florida all ready to put on her gun and badge, But was laughed at and given a ticket book to write parking tickets. She says that she went home and told her grandmother about what had happen,And her grandmother who was a praying woman told her to find out how many tickets the other women were writing and double the number. Her Grandmother instilled in here a spirit of never giving up. This was the message that she gave the youth of Real Life Ministries, to dream their dreams and never give up.

When the services were over she didn't run off and get in her Jag, She stayed around and greeted the members who wanted to share a moment with this real portrayal of black history. As we chatted and spoke of reading this blog,I asked her had she or would she consider running for mayor of Memphis. She just laughed,But she didn't say no. My Harrison would be the perfect person to rid our political system of corruption and lead this city to new heights. maybe it's wishful thinking but wouldn't it be something if it happened.

So remember the next time that you see her in her official capacity that she get the job done, and if you haven't violated the trust of this community you have nothing to fear. But if you see her in church on Sunday mornings she'll be the one praising god and shouting Amen. By the way if she runs for mayor her slogan should be. DOT,DOT,DOT,TAP,TAP,TAP. And thanks to pastor Greene for being so very cordial.

Apartment Complex Charging Hispanics To Break The Law

On last week I visited the Prescott Place Apartments,And the Willow Oaks Apartments, were I found in violation of zoning laws and Health Department regulations the selling of hot food out doors along with the selling of merchandise.

I spoke with a representative of the Shelby County Health Department on Monday who confirmed that food can not be sold from a resident,or in a area that is not zoned commercial. Plus in the selling of food there must be hot and cold running water.

On last week hot food was being sold out of the back of cars,trucks,and vans, Some with electrical cords running 100 ft to an apartment to supply power. In the Prescott Place Apartments there were vendors selling all types of Cd's and DVD's without a permit. On Monday I made a call to both complexes,At Willow Oakes I spoke with Telisia Johnson the resident manager. After relating to Johnson what I had seen she seemed surprised. She stated that she did not live on site and that she's off on the weekends and was unaware of what was going on,But would correct the problem. On yesterday (Saturday) When I drove through the complex the problem had been corrected and there was no sign of the selling of food or merchandise.

But not so with Prescott Place. When I called on Monday I spoke with a Hispanic woman who identified herself as Catina Segura After questioning her for several minutes in a office I could tell had others present, A black woman who I believe stated her name to be Tonya took the phone away from Catina. I asked her to give me her name again but she refused. I asked her if she was aware of what was going on in her complex,She stated that she did and that the vendors had a permit. I asked from where and she stated from her. I asked if she knew that the selling of food was against zoning laws,And she stated that they could do whatever they wanted on there property and hung up the phone. I filed a complaint with the health department after my conversation with her.

When I made my visit to Prescott Place on yesterday there was no food being sold, But there was a Flea Market in progress being guarded by apartment security,I guess this was to keep me away and from taking pictures. I spoke with one Hispanic vendor who held up his permit written on a sticky pad,saying "I pay, I pay," I asked him was he paying the office the office to be outside selling he said "Si Senor". As I started taking pictures a female security guard who had sitting in a car chatting on the phone wanted to know who I was was, and that she was calling the police.

I invited her to call them because i want to see what they're going to do about thee selling of all kinds of merchandise without a permit. I also told her I want to see if the police check to see if any of the CD's and DVD's are pirate copies. At this point she calls her superior but refuses to let me converse with him. She tells him that I'm taking pictures,I don't know what she was told but I told her that She was not taking my camera and that her company was allowing the law to be violated. At that point she got a dumb look on her face as I took my last picture and drove off.

It's very apparent that this apartment complex is charging this group of Hispanics to violate the law. While what the Hispanics is doing is wrong. The bigger crime is the office personnel taking advantage of them. The Hispanic community must learn that since they want to be in this country they have to abide by the same laws that govern the rest of us, Then they want have to worry about being misused by those self servers who don't care who they hurt.

The date was June 1, 1921 when "BLACK WALLSTREET", the name fittingly given to one of the most affluent all-BLACK communities in America, was bombed from the air and burned to the ground by mobs of envious whites. In a period spanning fewer than 12 hours, a once thriving Black business district in northern Tulsa lay smoldering--a model community destroyed and a major African-American economic movement resoundingly defused.
The night's carnage left some 3,000 African Americans dead and over 600 successful businesses lost. Among these were 21 churches, 21 restaurants, 30 grocery stores and two movie theaters, plus a hospital, a bank, a post office, libraries, schools, law offices, a half dozen private airplanes and even a bus system. As could have been expected, the impetus behind it all was the infamous Ku Klux Klan, working in consort with ranking city officials and many other sympathizers.

In their self-published book, BLACK WALLSTREET: A Lost Dream and its companion video documentary, BLACK WALLSTREET: A BLACK Holocaust in America!, the authors have chronicled for the very first time in the words of area historians and elderly survivors what really happened there on that fateful summer day in 1921 and why it happened. Wallace similarly explained why this bloody event from the turn of the century seems to have had a recurring effect that is being felt in predominately BLACK neighborhoods even to this day.
The best description of BLACK WALLSTREET, or little Africa as it was also known, would be to compare it to a mini-Berverly Hills. It was the golden door of the BLACK community during the early 1900s, and it proved that African Americans could create a successful infrastructure. That's what BLACK WALLSTREET was all about.

The dollar circulated 36 to 100 times, sometimes taking a year for currency to leave the community. Now in 1995, a dollar leaves the BLACK community in 15-minutes. As far as resources, there were Ph.D.'s residing in little Africa, BLACK attorneys and doctors. One doctor was Dr. Berry who owned the bus system. His average income was $500 a day, a hefty pocket change in 1910.

During that era physicians owned medical schools. There were also pawn shops everywhere, brothels, jewelry stores, 21 churches, 21 restaurants and two movie theaters, It was a time when the entire state of Oklahoma had only two Airports, Yet six BLACKS owned their own planes. It was a very fascinating community.

The area encompassed over 600 businesses and 36 square blocks with a population of 15,000 African Americans. And when the lower-economic Europeans looked over and saw what the BLACK community created, many of them were jealous. When the average student went to school on BLACK WALLSTREET, he wore a suit and tie because of the morals and respect they were taught at a young age.

The mainstay of the community was to educate every child. Nepotism was the one word they believed in. and that's what we need to get back to in 1995. The main thoroughfare was Greenwood Avenue, and it was intersected by Archer and Pine Streets. From the first letters in each of those three names you get G.A.P. and that's where the renowned R and B music group the GAP Band got its name. They're from Tulsa.

BLACK WALLSTREET was a prime example of the typical, BLACK community in America that did businesses, but it was in an unusual location. You see, at the time, Oklahoma was set aside to be a BLACK and Indian state. There were over 28 BLACK townships there. One third of the people who traveled in the terrifying "Trail of Tears" along side the Indians between 1830 and 1842 were BLACK people.

The citizens of this proposed Indian and BLACK state chose a BLACK governor, a treasurer from Kansas named McDade. But the Ku Klux Klan said that if he assumed office that they would kill him within 48 hours. A lot of BLACKS owned farmland, and many of them had gone into the oil business. The community was so tight and wealthy because they traded dollars hand-to-hand, and because they were dependent upon one another as a result of the Jim Crow Laws.

It was not unusual that if a resident's home accidentally burned down, it could be rebuilt within a few weeks by neighbors. This was the type of scenario that was going on day-to-day on BLACK WALLSTREET. When BLACKs intermarried into the Indian culture, some of them received their promised '40 acres and a mule' and with that came whatever oil was later found on the properties.

Just to show you how wealthy a lot of BLACK people were, there was a banker in the neighboring town who had a wife named California Taylor. Her father owned the largest cotton Gin west of the Mississippi (River). When California shopped, she would take a cruise to Paris every three months to have her clothes made.

There was also a man named Mason in nearby Wagner County who had the largest potato farm west of the Mississippi. When he harvested, he would fill 100 boxcars a day, Another brother not far away had the same thing with a spinach farm. The typical family then was five children or more, though the typical farm family would have 10 kids or more who made up the nucleus of the labor.

On BLACK WALLSTREET, a lot of global business was conducted, The community flourished from the early 1900s until June 1, 1921. That's when the largest massacre of nonmilitary Americans in the history of this country took place, and it was lead by the KU KLUX KLAN. Imagine walking out of your front door and seeing 1,500 homes being burned. It must have been amazing.

Survivors we interviewed think that the whole thing was planned because during the time that all of this was going on, white families with their children stood around the borders of their community and watched the massacre. The looting and everything--much in the same manner they would watch a lynching.

The riots weren't caused by anything black or white. It was caused by jealousy. A lot of white folks had come back from World War I and they were poor. When they looked over into the BLACK communities and realized that BLACK men who fought in the war had come home heroes that helped trigger the destruction.

It cost the BLACK community everything, and not a single dime of restitution--no insurance claims-- has been awarded the victims to this day. Nonetheless, they rebuilt. We estimate, that 1,500 to 3,000 people were killed and we know that a lot of them were buried in mass graves all around the city. Some were thrown into the river. As a matter of fact, at 21st street and Yale Avenue, where there now stands a Sears parking lot, that corner used to be a coal mine. They threw a lot of the bodies into the shafts.

BLACK Americans don't know about this story because we don't apply the word HOLOCAUST to our struggle. Jewish people use the word HOLOCAUST all the time. White people use the word HOLOCAUST. It's politically correct to use it. But we BLACK folks use the word, people think we're being cry babies or that we're trying to bring up old issues. No one comes to our support.

In 1910, our forefathers and mothers owned 13 million acres of land at the height of racism in this country, so the BLACK WALLSTREET BOOK and VIDEOTAPE prove to naysayers and revisionists that we had our act together. Our mandate now is to begin to teach our children about our own, ongoing BLACK HOLOCAUST.

James Bolden On The Ballot May Be A Name To Look Out For

This evening I gave former Police Director James Bolden a call to find out if as Police Director he had a Security System at his home paid for by taxpayers dollars. And as I thought he has never had any security at all. When Bolden was in office he always had a open door to the public. Police officers still sing his praises.

While I had him on the phone I asked him about a rumor that I heard that he was considering running for mayor. he laughed and would neither confirm or deny the rumor. But he did state he' willing to serve the will of the people,And told me to read between the lines. So we may see him enter politics to either replace Willie or maybe one of the "Worthless Wonders" on the shitty,Opps I mean city council.

I met with police officers who gave me what they feel is the reason Willie tolerates Godwin. After I heard what these officers had to say,I must say it makes sense and answers a lot of Questions.


The explanation by these officers include the cover up of a crime, The influence of Willie Herenton,Bobby Todd, And Larry Godwin. It also explains why evidence in this crime was destroyed the next day. As I stated this information comes from City of Memphis Police officers,but after hearing them And knowing what I know about the matter in question its very easy to believe them.

Some Police Officers Think That Godwin Is A Coward For Having Taxpayers Security System On His Home

Many police officers That I have spoken with,Along with the one's who have contacted me feel as though their fearless leader Larry Godwin is a coward. They are wondering why taxpayers money had to be spent to protect a pencil pusher. These officers complain that Godwin is in no danger as director .and that no other Police Director has went to this extreme.

The officers state that they are the one's in danger,They're the ones who face the thugs and drug dealers day to day. The officer in the field who rides the same areas daily are the ones who should feel for their safety. When was the last time other than before a camera that's promoting "Blue Crush" has the director been in the streets facing one on one criminals?

But the question must also be asked Did Willie Herenton Okay Godwin placing this expensive City Of Memphis Security system on his home? The City Attorney states that it cost lest than $10,000 but had a $6,000 upgrade added. Plus it was installed by the Tact Squad. Was this unit that Godwin has taken from the coffers of the city meant for some small business? this type of security system is not your standard home system.

What does Godwin have to fear,maybe the 30 year Captains whose jobs were taken in violation of the City Charter. The same 30 year Captains that he had his TACT unit place guns on and herd into a room at the Training Center to let them know that he was taking their positions, While he stood by with a bullet proof vest on and the departments helicopter on standby. But I guess had he treated them fairly he wouldn't have to be scared. This same man spoke of waste in the department but yet instead of spending his own money he steals from the city.

Especially during the past 24 months, Director Godwin has been a high profile leader in the war on crime, drugs and gangs in our community and he is clearly viewed as a threat to this element of society. Approximately 18 months after the cameras were installed, the City began upgrading and standardizing surveillance equipment in various departments and precincts throughout MPD. The equipment located at Director Godwin’s residence was upgraded late in 2006 to meet the standard and to allow for more streamlined management and maintenance of the system. Black History Fact: First Open Heart Surgery Performed By Black Doctor

Daniel Hale Williams - Introduction: African American Doctor Daniel Hale Williams is credited with having performed open heart surgery on July 9, 1893 before such surgeries were established. In 1913, Daniel Hale Williams Williams was the only African American member of the American College of Surgeons.


Daniel Hale Williams - Famous Operation: Daniel Hale Williams successfully operated on James Cornish, the victim of a knifing. The operation was considered at the time a ground-breaking. The doctor opened the patient's chest revealing a beating heart to stitch a small wound in the pericardium, the sac surrounding the heart.


Daniel Hales Williams - Other Achievements: Daniel Hales Williams utilized many of the emerging antiseptic, sterilization procedures of the day and thereby gained a reputation for professionalism. The doctor began his medical practice in Chicago at a time when there were only three other black physicians. In 1891, in Chicago, Daniel Hales Williams founded Provident, the first American interracial hospital. Provident hosted the first nursing school for blacks in America.


Daniel Hales Williams - Background: Daniel Hales Williams was born in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania on January 18,1858. He graduated from Chicago Medical College in 1883. Daniel Hales Williams and Alice Johnson were wed on April 2, 1898. He died on August 4, 1931, in Idlewild, Michigan.

Is The City Of Memphis Police Department Corrupt?

I meet several times a month with Police officers who feel that Director Larry Godwin is the worst director in the history of the department. They wonder how mayor herenton allows him to run a department where his personal friends are allowed to benefit. They also feel that they have been betrayed by Tommy Turner who is a very close friend of Godwin who happens to be the head of the Police Union. They are concerned that he allows his personal friends and former business partners to control the Special Events Detail and make thousands per year in over time.

The testing was fair, but after the test giver...Barretts and Associated out of Texas gave the test for both Majors and Inspectors, Godwin made up a list of his favorite white boys before all of the final component of the test scores was sent to the City's Human Resourse Division. This list was madeup to promote his selection of white boys. On Monday, January 29, 2006 the test giver...Barretts and Associated just released the final components (the third part) of the test results to City Hall....The company held this because the City had not paid the company in full.
however, Godwin put the horse before the cart and made out a bogus list of people to be promoted, all whites in the top 70% of his version of the test and all the blacks and 30 year Captains on the lower part of the list. After Mrs. Essex refused to promote from Godwin madeup list, the white got together and filed a lawsutie trying to forced the city to promote from this made up list of Majors from Godwin. Federal Judge Orders The Promotion Of Black Officers

According to a Federal Judge the City Of memphis Police Department has been ordered to promote these Black officers. Thanks to the officers who sent me the names.

Effective Saturday, February 3, 2007, the below listed officers will be promoted to the rank of Sergeant pursuant to Court order and pending the outcome of an appeal in federal court. An official ceremony will be held Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at 1400 hours at the MPD Training Academy. All newly promoted Sergeants will report to the Training Academy, in proper attire, to attend and complete Sergeant Developmental Training (40 hours) beginning February 5, 2007 @ 0800 hours.

As announced here first last summer Herman Morris will be running for Mayor of Memphis and will make it official very shorty. As Morris prepares to run what is it that you think should be his main focus as mayor? What issues would you like for him to address during his campaign?

Morris will have the money and the organization to run an effective campaign against Willie Herenton. Where he has never ran a political campaign before,neither had Herenton his first time around. Morris as the President of MLG&W has had control of a budget much larger than that of the City of Memphis.

It's time for a change at city Hall,If given a choice of Herenton or Morris who would you vote for? Morris is viewing this site tell him how you feel and what you would like him to do as mayor. Biography
Herman Morris, Jr. was born on January 16, 1951, in Memphis, Tennessee, where he attended public school. From there, Morris attended Southwestern University at Memphis (Rhodes College), where he earned a B.A. in economics in 1973. He then went on to attend the Vanderbilt University School of Law, earning a J.D. in 1977. Over the next twelve years, Morris worked in private practice with several Memphis-area law firms handling a wide variety of cases. In 1989, he left his law practice to become the first in-house general counsel for Memphis Light, Gas & Water. There, he initiated the Inner-City Legal Explorer Post in conjunction with the Boy Scouts of America to provide opportunities for inner-city youth to gain exposure to the law and legal careers. In 1997, Morris was promoted to president and CEO of Memphis Light, Gas & Water. In this position, Morris oversaw 2,700 employees and a $1.5 billion budget. Today, Morris is a shareholder in the Memphis law offices of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC, where he focuses his practice on business, securities, energy, utilities and public policy. Morris is highly involved in a number of community and professional organizations. Currently, he is a director of the University of Tennessee Medical Group and the Tennessee Valley Public Power Association. In addition, Morris serves on the Advisory Board of Bank of America. He is also the past president of the Memphis Branch of the NAACP, actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America, and has played an instrumental role as the Campaign Chairman of the United Way of the Mid-South. Morris has also been honored with numerous awards, including awards for business as well as his philanthropic contributions. Morris and his wife, Brenda, live in Memphis.

What Are We To Do?

The Mayor has bodyguards to protect him, The Police Director has a home security system valued in the thousands paid for with tax payers dollars. But what does the elderly man and woman who lives along do? What does the persons who want to walk his or her neighborhood for exercise do? What does the woman who early in the morning has to stand on a bus stop trying to get to work to make a living to feed her children do?

They all stay fearful for their lives. At any moment any of us in this city could become a victim of crime. No longer can you run away to a safe area of the city. the criminal is mobile and travels to rob and kill.

The Police Director has given us "Blue Curse", I mean Blue Crush but many police officers will tell you that this is just a promotional stunt. They will also tell you that there are many more crimes committed than the public knows anything about. So what are we to do,How can we save ourselves from becoming the victim of a savage murder? Where do we look for help when the Police Director And the Sheriff are fighting? Where do we find someone who gives a damn about the citizens of this community?

The Sheriff wants to build a bigger jail that will cost taxpayers millions of dollars, But what do we do when the new jail is filled? Do we spend for millions and build another one? Or do we seek to put a handle on crime? The first place to start is in the home,many parents know that their children are thieves and murders. these same parents profit from their drug dealing children. do we need a law that states that if your underage child who lives in your house committs a crime you will get the same time as your child?

Do we allow the police to do their jobs without the fear of lawsuits and allow them to clean off the street corners where thugs hang out to prey on people walking down the street. Do we need to start killing these worthless pieces of scum and lay their bodies on the door steps of their relatives. Do we demand that the Attorney General really follow his "Truth In Sentencing" plan?

Should the Penal Farm become just that,A farm where the criminal grows what he eats. That would cut expenses from taxpayers. You could eliminate the need for every inmate having his or her own bed by allowing them to work 24 hours a day sleeping in 12 hour shifts. I know that these ideas will never happen but we must do something, But What??????

Today starts the observance of Black History Month,Each day for the rest of this month I will post a subject that is designed to make us deal with the reality of blackness in this country. Some of the subject matter may offend those who wish to forget the ugliness that some whites placed upon a people that even though their skin was dark bleed the same blood as them. Some of the subject matter will be very controversial and will make some downright mad, Such as when I write about " How Blacks As Maids And Cooks Had The Power To Kill A Nation".

But today I'm starting with what is known as "The Willie Lynch Letter" Some say that the Willie Lynch did not exist and that the letter is fake. But if the willie Lynch did not exist what about the content of the letter? Was there a design to mold blacks into slaves? There had to be some type of programming that would make a nation of people bow to brutal treatment without starting a massive uprising and killing their white owners.

But to those who would love to see those days reappear,And there are those who would,Those days will never raise it's head again. There are Black men like me who would die before being a slave and take the lives of as many oppressors as possible with us through the gates of death.

He was invited to the colony of Virginia in 1712 to teach his methods to slave owners there. The term “lynching” is derived from his last name.

Gentlemen. I greet you here on the bank of the James River in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and twelve. First, I shall thank you, the gentlemen of the Colony of Virginia, for bringing me here. I am here to help you solve some of your problems with slaves. Your invitation reached me on my modest plantation in the West Indies, where I have experimented with some of the newest, and still the oldest, methods for control of slaves. Ancient Rome would envy us if my program is implemented. As our boat sailed south on the James River, named for our illustrious King, whose version of the Bible we cherish, I saw enough to know that your problem is not unique. While Rome used cords of wood as crosses for standing human bodies along its highways in great numbers, you are here using the tree and the rope on occasions. I caught the whiff of a dead slave hanging from a tree, a couple miles back. You are not only losing valuable stock by hangings, you are having uprisings, slaves are running away, your crops are sometimes left in the fields too long for maximum profit, you suffer occasional fires, your animals are killed. Gentlemen, you know what your problems are; I do not need to elaborate. I am not here to enumerate your problems, I am here to introduce you to a method of solving them. In my bag here, I HAVE A FULL PROOF METHOD FOR CONTROLLING YOUR BLACK SLAVES. I guarantee every one of you that, if installed correctly, IT WILL CONTROL THE SLAVES FOR AT LEAST 300 HUNDREDS YEARS. My method is simple. Any member of your family or your overseer can use it. I HAVE OUTLINED A NUMBER OF DIFFERENCES AMONG THE SLAVES; AND I TAKE THESE DIFFERENCES AND MAKE THEM BIGGER. I USE FEAR, DISTRUST AND ENVY FOR CONTROL PURPOSES. These methods have worked on my modest plantation in the West Indies and it will work throughout the South. Take this simple little list of differences and think about them. On top of my list is “AGE,” but it’s there only because it starts with an “a.” The second is “COLOR” or shade. There is INTELLIGENCE, SIZE, SEX, SIZES OF PLANTATIONS, STATUS on plantations, ATTITUDE of owners, whether the slaves live in the valley, on a hill, East, West, North, South, have fine hair, course hair, or is tall or short. Now that you have a list of differences, I shall give you an outline of action, but before that, I shall assure you that DISTRUST IS STRONGER THAN TRUST AND ENVY STRONGER THAN ADULATION, RESPECT OR ADMIRATION. The Black slaves after receiving this indoctrination shall carry on and will become self-refueling and self-generating for HUNDREDS of years, maybe THOUSANDS. Don’t forget, you must pitch the OLD black male vs. the YOUNG black male, and the YOUNG black male against the OLD black male. You must use the DARK skin slaves vs. the LIGHT skin slaves, and the LIGHT skin slaves vs. the DARK skin slaves. You must use the FEMALE vs. the MALE, and the MALE vs. the FEMALE. You must also have white servants and overseers [who] distrust all Blacks. But it is NECESSARY THAT YOUR SLAVES TRUST AND DEPEND ON US. THEY MUST LOVE, RESPECT AND TRUST ONLY US. Gentlemen, these kits are your keys to control. Use them. Have your wives and children use them, never miss an opportunity. IF USED INTENSELY FOR ONE YEAR, THE SLAVES THEMSELVES WILL REMAIN PERPETUALLY DISTRUSTFUL. Thank you gentlemen.”

It was the interest and business of slave holders to study human nature, and the slave nature in particular, with a view to practical results. I and many of them attained astonishing proficiency in this direction. They had to deal not with earth, wood and stone, but with men and, by every regard, they had for their own safety and prosperity they needed to know the material on which they were to work, conscious of the injustice and wrong they were every hour perpetuating and knowing what they themselves would do. Were they the victims of such wrongs? They were constantly looking for the first signs of the dreaded retribution. They watched therefore with skilled and practiced eyes, and learned to read with great accuracy, the state of mind and heart of the slave, through his sable face. Unusual sobriety, apparent abstractions, sullenness and indifference indeed, any mood out of the common was afforded ground for suspicion and inquiry. Frederick Douglas LET’S MAKE A SLAVE is a study of the scientific process of man-breaking and slave-making. It describes the rationale and results of the Anglo Saxons’ ideas and methods of insuring the master/slave relationship. LET’S MAKE A SLAVE “The Original and Development of a Social Being Called ‘The Negro.’” Let us make a slave. What do we need? First of all, we need a black nigger man, a pregnant nigger woman and her baby nigger boy. Second, we will use the same basic principle that we use in breaking a horse, combined with some more sustaining factors. What we do with horses is that we break them from one form of life to another; that is, we reduce them from their natural state in nature. Whereas nature provides them with the natural capacity to take care of their offspring, we break that natural string of independence from them and thereby create a dependency status, so that we may be able to get from them useful production for our business and pleasure.

For months now I have attacked Attorney Richard Fields for not only being a man who paid to have sex with a minor who according to a police report and my taped interview claims he likes dildo stuck up his ass, But for also attacking black candidates in various political races.

Fields who has made his money defending the rights of blacks now only attacks blacks. In the judicial races last year he went on a tirade to destroy the reputations of several blacks running for judgeship's,While not touching the known offenses of whites running for those offices. He even had his very deranged looking son file a $1million dollar lawsuit against me when the son's mother contacted me concerning how the son had alleged sex with his than two year old daughter. The mother had a police and medical report that showed that the child's labia had been torn. I'm still waiting for something to happen on that case I will love to put witnesses on the stand for this one.

Richard Fields is, by his own self-description and in large part by reality, a civil rights attorney. His long immersion as a white in various legal issues involving African Americans and his involvement to that end with such esteemed pioneers as Irvin Salky and Russell Sugarmon is a matter of public record. That Fields should in the last several years have come under attack from more than one corner of Memphis’ black community as a “racist” would seem to be ironic in the extreme, but allegations of that sort have begun to multiply — most insistently from influential blogger Thaddeus Matthews, a dedicated Fields adversary, but also from prominent members of the Herenton-Chism political organization in which Fields himself has historically played a significant role.One of the most recent accusers in that regard has been former city attorney Robert Spence, who, as a candidate in the Democratic primary for the vacant District 30 state Senate seat, was relentlessly attacked by Fields for various alleged misdeeds in a widely circulated open letter. It was the second such intervention by Fields in the electoral process, his first being a similarly well-distributed letter last year containing Fields’ endorsements (and condemnations) of candidates for judicial posts. Understandably, Spence, defeated last week by state representative Beverly Marrero, might be regarded as a less than objective witness.Yet he makes an interesting point, noting that most of the lawyers attacked by Fields in his letter of last year — for misconduct or lack of qualifications or whatever — were black and charging further that such African Americans who got Fields’ endorsement were mere window-dressing. “Having set out to denigrate black lawyers, he added a couple to his endorsement list to make it look good.”
Sour grapes? The fact is that the add-on aspect of Spence’s accusation is backed up by other sources — notably Janet Shipman and Regina Morrison Newman, two well-regarded whites who ran for General Sessions court positions last year and had received firm assurances from Fields that he would both support and endorse them.Just before issuing his list, however, Fields withdrew his promised endorsements, opting instead for two equally well-regarded African Americans, Lee Coffey in Shipman’s race and Deborah Henderson in Newman’s.“He got in my face and told me I shouldn’t have had anything to do with Brett Thompson,” recalls Newman, whose campaign had engaged a public relations firm that employed Thompson, a well-connected former state representative who, years ago, had been convicted of misconduct as a lawyer and disbarred.But wait: The aforesaid Coffey had also enjoyed Thompson’s services, as indeed had several of the candidates included on Fields’ endorsement list. Two other factors are worth weighing. Coffey and Henderson, like most of Fields’ endorsees, also appeared on the endorsement list of the Shelby County Republican Party. Coincidental perhaps, but it is a fact that Fields, earlier in 2006, had been compelled to resign from the Shelby County Democratic executive committee because of his overt activity on behalf of Republicans.
Fields had chosen to work in harness with lawyers representing the state Republican Party in seeking to void what seemed to be the tainted election to the state Senate of Democrat Ophelia Ford in favor of Republican Terry Roland. Not even his detractors on the Democratic committee quarreled with Fields’ right to pursue what he regarded as justice — only with what they saw as an implicit conflict of purpose.
Spence, Shipman, and Newman concur on the likelihood that Fields’ Republican associations figured significantly in his endorsement choices, but they agree as well that, under fire from Matthews and other African-American critics, Fields’ most compelling motive was likely his need to do some old-fashioned ticket-balancing, with Coffey and Henderson being the beneficiaries.
At least partly because of the novelty of his epistolary interventions and his self-styled role as an arbiter of candidates’ credentials, both of Fields’ open letters had an impact on the election results. In both circumstances, white voters especially were observed taking copies of Fields’ recommendations to the polls with them.“There’s no doubt. That was enough to cause my defeat,” said Shipman, now employed in county government. Newman, whose margin of defeat was even smaller, was another likely casualty.The moral of the story is a variant of the old caveat: Who shall heal the healer? In this case: Who shall judge the judger?
