The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) has issued its annual Congressional Report Card, and Representative Steve Cohen led the Tennessee Congressional Delegation with an "A" grade.
"As a Lifetime Member of the NAACP, I have supported the goals and aspirations of this organization throughout my 26-year legislative career," said Congressman Cohen. "(NAACP Chairman) Julian Bond and I have been friends for years, and we have very similar political philosophies that I am proud to espouse in my role as Representative for the 9th District of Tennessee."

"(NAACP Chairman) Julian Bond and I have been friends for years, and we have very similar political philosophies that I am proud to espouse in my role as Representative for the 9th District of Tennessee."
The NAACP rated members of the US Congress based on their voting records with regard to issues such as the expansion of Hate Crime laws, increasing the Minimum Wage, the expansion of small business loan programs, providing post-Katrina housing assistance, reauthorizing Head Start, putting economic pressure on the Sudanese government to stop the massacre in Darfur, supporting organized labor, and the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) -- all of which Congressman Cohen supported.
"The NAACP has done an excellent job of cultivating a legislative plan of action that benefits the people of Memphis," continued Congressman Cohen. "I will continue to work with the NAACP to ensure their ability to advance their cause in the U.S. Congress."

who cares?
Thaddeus Matthews has repeatedly stated that the NAACP, of which Richard "Booty" Fields is a member of, is WORTHLESS.
Yet here and now, he is trying to convince us that just because this WORTHLESS organization gave "his bud" an A, we are supposed to give applause and be impressed?
On one day, you want us to hate the NAACP. On the very next day, you want us to love the NAACP.
WE AREN'T STUPID THADDEUS.
I STILL THINK THAT THE NAACP IS WORTHLESS TO BLACKS AND ITS LEADERSHIP ARE PAWNS OF WHITE CORPORATE AMERICA, BUT THAT STIL DOES NOT TAKE AWAY FROM WHAT DECISION THE GROUP MADE AS FAR AS GIVING A WHITE MAN AN "A". HAROLD FORD JR. NEVER GOT AN "A" FROM ANYONE FOR HIS SERVICE

Hey stupid, Andrew Clark, Sr. has a talk show that makes your hood fest nothing but a near defunct ad free teen type bulletin board.
Clark doesn't post here, who ever makes those posts is doing nothing but slumming and needling.
Why is it that the Andrew Clark, Sr. show has lots of top quality advertising while your show has only one or two spots from some dirty spoon on Beale, a pressing shop and a cut rate, soon to close store front mortuary run by a soon to be tried and jailed, Edmund Ford, Sr? No, I would not insult any family by placing a deceased member even near that slime ball.
What was it that you deleted about statements you made at the DUTCH TREAT LUNCHEON last week?
CONTRADICTING YOURSELF, THEREFORE HAVE TO DELETE someone's post referring to your lies.
A SHAMEFUL BLOGGER YOU ARE.
"I STILL THINK THAT THE NAACP IS WORTHLESS TO BLACKS" Thaddeus
Then that makes that big fat A WORTHLESS too!!!
12:57 first of all this is my site and i delete what i chose, secondly i didn't attend the Dutch Treat last week, if you don't like what i do here stay off the site
Did anybody notice whether or not Cohen's lips were chapped after kissing so much black ass??????
3:08 PM, listen, I don't give a damn what you like or don't like. And I'll go anywhere I damn well please whenever and however I want to. And I will like or dislike anything I damn well please.
Kiss my ass!
If Congressman Cohen doesn't do enough for the black community, then he's a loser, but he's stepped up and given us exceptional service, so now he is, as you put it, "kissing black butt."
Why is it a lose-lose situation for someone who is serving us and doing so much for our community?
Barak Obama states emphatically that it is not about black and white. With out of touch Thaddeus Matthews, it's only about black and white.
Out of touch Thaddeus Matthews has an unauthorized plug for Barak Obama on this blog. If it follows that Thaddeus Matthews begins to post positively about Barak Obama, he will create a local problem for Obama on this blog, It wont harm Barak Obama beyond here since no one has any respect for what is posted here and Matthews has a very limited influence elsewhere.
Nevertheless, when Matthews starts texting for Obama there will be a hugh racist uprising based on the fact that is all that Thaddeus is capable of stirring up. Matthews has such little respect that the posters here will loose sight of the real issues and counter with the racist attitude that is so much a part of Thaddeus Matthews' playing field.
Obviously, Matthews will soon get the word to delete anything about Obama from this blog and Matthews will be given an urgent request that he not mention the name of Obama for the simple reason that his support on this blog would be the kiss of death for Obama, but only on this blog. Matthews has no influence on this blog. As a result of his predictable stupidity Barak supports would not want the name of Matthews associated with their candidate.

“The great masses of people will more easily fall victim to a 'Big Lie' than a small one, if it is repeated often enough.” —Joseph Goebbels
REPARATIONS! . . . the deadliest word in the Uncivil Rights Movement currently being waged against Caucasians by Negroes. It is the word that provides the needed excuses for crimes committed by Negroes—particularly crimes committed against Caucasian individuals or the entire White establishment. REPARATIONS is the word that enables their failure to enfranchise themselves and build self sustaining communities that are for Black people, of Black people and by Black people, like every single other race or creed in America. REPERATIONS is a political rallying cry that provides Black people with the final justification to inflict violence on White people in order to exact revenge.
Though it does no good at all to introduce facts and logic into this volatile mix, forward I go . . . that’s why I’m here . . . at least this way everyone will know how ridiculous this claim for slave REPERATIONS is the next time they’re hearing it or making it . . . please feel free to share this reason with others.
On January 18, 1865, Union General William Tecumseh Sherman issued Special Field Orders, No. 15, to deal with the problem of freed Negroes who had nowhere to go. Sherman, and Secretary of State Edwin Stanton, decided to use confiscated enemy territory in Georgia, South Carolina and Florida as a refugee camp. There were some 400,000 acres of land along the Atlantic Ocean designated for some 40,000 Negroes. This land was only available to Black families who lived along the coasts of South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. Sherman specifically allocated: “The islands from Charleston, south, to the abandoned rice fields along the river for thirty miles back from the sea, and the countryside bordering the St. John’s River.”
Now looking back, this seems mighty white of these racist Christian gentlemen, to offer such largesses to uncivilized slaves . . . but indeed it was offered with sinister intent. You see, colonization was the favored method for dealing with Negroes in post-Civil War America . . . they were basically free to go back to Africa, even though most had never set foot in Africa and had roots in America going back to the time of the Pilgrims. If they were to stay in America they were to stay to their own—out of sight and out of mind and out in the fields . . . the invisible humans.
President Abraham Lincoln was wise enough to realize that there would be little chance for racial harmony in an integrated America and all his meetings at the White House with the American Negro hierarchy focused on getting Negroes to willingly go to Africa for the mutual benefit of all concerned. At great cost, America sponsored Free States in Africa—Liberia, founded under President Thomas Jefferson, and Monrovia, named for President James Monroe. There, freed slaves from America could return to their ancestral homeland and be protected from the tribal chiefs that sold them into slavery and the governments that purchased them. They would be free at last from the prejudice of White men and able to live side by side with their own people, working together to build peaceful, prosperous communities across the land; they could become a nation and form their own government; they could create economy through work and commerce; they would bring back knowledge and literacy and abilities learned during their captivity that would allow them to pioneer mother Africa as had never been done in the three million year history of that country before the first Caucasian set foot there five hundred odd years ago. However, free Negroes rejected being culturally reintegrated with their own kind and chose to live as outcasts on the fringe of the Lily white world, where they remain to this day . . . and ever shall remain.
When President Lincoln realized he couldn’t ship Negroes to Africa a tenth as fast as they would be born in America, he worked on securing land in South America and Mexico as well as setting aside land in America where Negroes could be set aside. Lincoln was certain that the disadvantaged Negro could not progress in White America and their struggles would be a detriment to society . . . go figure. On the day he was assassinated, Lincoln secured fifty thousand dollars from Congress to purchase land in San Domingo to ship freedmen . . . and the rest is history.
In June of 1865, President Andrew Johnson vetoed Special Field Orders, No. 15 and returned the confiscated land to his southern brethren who were the rightful owners. Johnson had been a Tennessee senator before becoming vice-president and is the only southern senator that did not secede from the Union. Johnson knew the value of slaves to the southern economy, so he did not want them shipped out. Negroes were free, but they would still perform the same dirty work for the next century and counting, so it was vital they kept their place.
It was clear that Negroes had to be quarantined in their own self-contained communities and from Lincoln’s concept of colonization grew the institution of segregation which was enforced by the K.K.K. with Jim Crow laws designed to protect poor Whites living on the border of the Black side of town who were forced to interact with Negroes through no fault of their own.
Reconstruction was legislated so that the South would pay reparations to the North for the cost and toll of the Civil War . . . there was never any law or title drafted to give money to former slaves. Like every other American, Negroes were expected to carry their own weight and shoulder their own burdens. In fact the first time reparations for slaves was brought up was in the movie Gone With the Wind, when the carpetbagger was offering “forty acres and a mule” to any Negroes who wanted to sharecrop. That was never a term that referred to constitutional legislation guaranteeing Negroes funds or land it was merely a line of fiction in a film.
However, it was obvious that the Negroes needed guidance and structure as well as provisions from Caucasians in order for them to form their own perfect union as far away from mainstream White America as possible. The W.A.S.P. government, the private sector, churches and high society raised funds and made grants available to educate the cream of their crop, so Negroes could become doctors and lawyers and teachers and entrepreneurs to tend to their own people; there would be loans available exclusively to Black businessmen, so they would be able to offer services and opportunities to their communities. White America knew that they had a responsibility to lend a helping hand to Black America and so there would be relief and aid and benefits available to Black families so they could build a foundation for their lineage and create a heritage to pass along. So all the tools and materials and resources they would need to build a thriving Black mainstream were handed to them free of charge to wipe the slate clean and give both sides a fresh start . . . all they would need to do to be successful was network with each other and work together and live in peace with their neighbors.
As generations passed, and all those who had suffered the horrors of slavery had long passed away, the problems of the Negro grew and the demands for assistance became threats. One era of politics after another has had to deal with the overwhelming problems of the Negro race nearly to the exclusion of all other problems we Americans face together and that is why we are becoming a Third World. Affirmative Action, Title VII, Quota hiring, N-boxes, busing, and Integration has leveled the playing field by creating more uneducated, unemployed, unwashed Whiteboys . . . meanwhile the Negro languishes and wallows. The Civil Rights Movement has done more to ruin the Black man than any institution since slavery. There were more Black-owned businesses and a greater percentage of Black high school graduates and college students and upper management employees during the Jim Crow era than after fifty years of ongoing legislation designed to provide them with the peace and prosperity they cannot provide for themselves or offer to society.
Actually, we’ll never know if Civil Rights would have worked or not, because the philosophy was abandoned by their people and manipulated by their party leaders. Those early Civil Rights pioneers rightfully demanded equal treatment and equal rights and equal opportunities; not special consideration, and handouts and reparations. The grassroots activists of the Civil Rights Movement were fortunate that the White world was not ready to accept them as integrated members of society, because it allowed them to rally within their culture to bring about effective progress on their own for their own. But as soon as legislation ended all forms of legal segregation, the Black man abandoned his culture and his community and his neighbors to live as the dark cloud in the gilded White world.
Even with all that, if only Negroes could have shown themselves to be peaceful, considerate neighbors, Whites would look back on the days of segregation and Jim Crow as an abomination imposed by ignorant racists who stereotyped Negroes based on the color of their skin rather than the content of their deeds. Instead the Black man has justified the warnings and charges leveled against him by our forefathers by turning every suburb he takes over into a slum inside a decade from the time the first Black families invade a White neighborhood . . . Negroes can flip any house with spray paint and turn any neighborhood inside out with gunfire.
In one-breath, their self styled, self appointed, so called “race leaders” demand that Negroes be given respect as equal members of society and in the next breath demand to be dealt with as a special interest terrorist group that must be treated as if they’re handicapped and retarded . . . the only bargaining chip they bring to the table is their threats of boycotts, crime and riots.
Initially, the Civil Rights Movement did not organize benefits and gather in protest to pander to Caucasian sensibilities. These were events for Black people, sponsored by Black people to enfranchise and advance Black people. The Black leadership acted apart from the government, but within the law; they challenged the law by acting lawfully—by sitting where they wished to on a bus, eating where they wanted, choosing a neighborhood based on their income rather than their race; not by being lawless marauders who act with depraved indifference toward humanity in order to steal what they will not work for. They advanced the cause of Civil Rights with demands for job opportunities, they wanted the means to educate their children, and even have them go onto college. They wanted a shot at the American dream and White people would have to find the integrity to put aside their bigotry to help them get there, because they can’t get there on their own . . . Well we held up our end of the deal—y’all dropped the ball!
But as the concept of Negroes working, and living, and networking with Negroes to make life better for Negroes withered on the vine, they rallied to demand that Caucasians build, support and maintain Black communities one home at a time and then spend our lives working to enfranchise the Negro race in America as well as in Africa before ever taking on the concerns of our own communities, families, livelihoods and country . . . tragically we gave in out of fear and a desire to do the right thing no matter how wrong it was and our national nightmare began.
Never in the history of Civil Rights has there ever been a proposal by Negroes to offer their services, or commit to higher education, or maintain their neighborhoods, or denounce the criminal behavior of fellow Negroes. Rather then giving Negroes a fish, we tried to teach them to fish, but instead they demand to be given a fish market where we catch the fish, cook the fish and sell the fish then turn over the profits to them before sweeping up and taking out the trash . . . if we don’t do this for them they will starve in the streets and use their lazy desperation to justify their violent crimes. Civil Rights has become extortion.
In this atmosphere, the gangbanger, the carjacker, the drug slinger, the pimp, and the thug have been become anti-establishment, counterculture heroes who are viewed as political prisoners; they are modern-day Robin Hoods; they are the legends of Black society who have been immortalized in the folklore of Rap Music; they are living or martyred crusaders in the eyes of the children in their inner cities. The likes of Frederick Douglass, Booker T. Washington, Martin Luther King, et al, have been replaced with the likes of Don King; Jessie Jackson, Tookie Williams, Louis Farrakhan . . . etcetera. The message grows louder and clearer to Blacks everyday—ignore reality, forget history, don’t listen to the White man; any time Whitey tells you to clean up yo’ backyard, cry RACISM; when the White man tries to give you an education, start speaking Ebonics; when the so called “blue-eyed devils” tell y’all to stay home and raise yo’ kids, pout about being stereotyped; when White America complains about the Black crime plague, play the slave card; and when those White supremacists urge Urban Americans to seek and maintain gainful employment, jump up and down and holler “I WANTS MY REPARATIONS!” . . . by any means necessary.
Suddenly all their problems can only be solved with one word: REPARATIONS! A whole generation has been fed reparations propaganda and now believe that the government owes them a check—anywhere from fifty grand to a million bucks depending on who you talk to. Never mind that slavery was only practiced in half of the United States—known as Confederate States because they were bogus; a defunct government that is no longer in existence, whose currency is worthless. At no time did even five percent of Americans own slaves, yet it is perceived that every White person owes every Black person a rebate check. Well, my people were Irishmen from the North that fought in the Civil War to free the slaves. No matter how you add it up, I don’t owe nobody nothing . . . except a few companies foolish enough to extend me credit.
The Black mainstream has been brainwashed by Black propaganda from Black leaders that make them believe they’re incapable of being self sufficient. Their race leaders teach them that going to Black schools with Black teachers means getting a substandard education; that going to Black doctors means receiving inadequate care; that living in Black neighborhoods means living in squalor. They are taught to campaign for grants and titles to help them pass tests and get promotions rather than studying and applying themselves for this advancement like every other race on Earth. If they are not given what they want, they blame it on a racial conspiracy so they must defend themselves by going on the offensive in the streets and in the courts.
Black African-Americans will never be equal to White Euro-Americans until they learn to take responsibility for their lives, their families, their communities and their future, which will never happen as long as they believe that they are owed a free living. Negroes have focused on the reparations given to Jews for the Holocaust and believe that they have the same righteous claim, and in part I agree. The distinction is that the Jews are not being given reparations, they’re being given restorations. These Jews owned property, art, jewelry, businesses, heirlooms and finery, they had insurance and bonds and stocks and money that were unlawfully seized by a renegade Nazi government, so these families want what is rightfully theirs. Now if you Negroes in America who are descended from slaves want to be given back what was unlawfully seized from your ancestors by a renegade African government, you need to hunt down the family of the African chieftain that sold your greaty-greaty-great-great-great-greaty grandparents into slavery and demand that your family tree hut be restored to you and that you receive a prorated percentage of the profit they made off the sale . . . that’s your only legal claim for REPARATIONS!
Thorne Peters whats your middle name, SUCK?
I began this series of posts a few months ago when the Silver Star News broke the original allegations. Prior to that Congressman Steve Cohen’s office began looking into complaints from several of his constituency regarding the TN ANG 164th Wing here in Memphis. Since then, it has been a process of raising public awareness and encouraging those with information to come forward.
Around 25 of you are now on record, and more who are still afraid to come forward “on the record”. This series of posts has a dedicated link (category 75) which I am able to monitor separate from the regular blog activity. On a daily basis, the number of people who visit the category has grown to somewhere around 75 to 150, depending on the day of the week. Some of the regulars are legislative and military offices who are now tracking the story. Most however are simply individuals who have an interest.
Up to this point, the behind the scene activity has been to encourage the TN ANG leadership to resolve the complaints and insure that patterns of discrimination are eliminated (breaking up the “good ole boy” network). Unfortunately, the response has been the same one that most of you are already familiar with, arrogance and “stonewalling”. Yet before this could move forward, they had to be given the opportunity to resolve the issues on their own.
I have been asked to pass along a message from Congressman Steve Cohen. He is ready to move forward with a Congressional investigation into this affair. He wishes to meet with all of you to explain the process and address your concerns. Those of you already on the record need to contact his office ASAP so that the meeting can be set up. Those who have remained off the record, this is the time to come forward.
For the sake of those who have been timid to this point, I can also tell you (although no details at this time), that there are those in the Tennessee State Legislature who will be moving forward on the State level. So you are not alone and the problems WILL be resolved.
Chris, you wanted to know about the “iceberg”, here it comes.
You may read this whole series of posts here. Anyone who has information regarding this case or who has been a victim of similar harassment is encouraged to contact Randy Wade at Congressman Cohen’s office.
This post is directed at those who are relying on this blog for information about what is going on in the TN ANG dispute. There are a few spectators (such as Voltaire) who are outside the loop and will just have to keep on guessing about certain aspects of this story. General Hargett, General Cotney, COL Montgomery, Hall, Hicks, Pollet and Silk already know what just happened and this post is not directed at them.
The tactic used against SMSGT Jones last week was NOT directed at him, but at YOU. The leadership at TN ANG does not know who most of you are and what you have already contributed to Congressman Cohen’s staff and me. You are those who they have been kept under “control” through fear. I’ll give an example using a phone call I received yesterday and I’m going to have to be a little vague as not to disclose the identity of the individual or the person being referred to.
The caller lives in another State and reads the blog after being sent the link from someone else. That someone has had similar encounters and experiences at the 164th AW at the hands of some of the same idiots I just listed above. Unfortunately, the person did not want to disclose their identity for fear of what has happened to the individuals I have profiled thus far. That someone happens to be female and no longer is at the base, but the fear still plagues her.
The actions against SMSGT Jones last week were designed to reinforce their weapon of choice, fear. General Hargett Monday asserted that he never received any of SMSGT Jones or others allegations. Yet after having been traced through the system, they were verified (by CPT Constance Lopez, MEO) to have gone to Nashville. The status of them after that only General Hargett can answer to, and he is not telling.
The actual effect of last week’s actions and the meeting Monday was to anger and outrage many Legislators and quite frankly they are tired of playing with General Hargett and the “good ole boys”. Lies only work for so long and intimidation tactics may work on some folks, but to those of character they only reinforce their desire for Justice. It may be hard for people like these to understand, but honor and Liberty still means something to some folks. That is why I’m reminding you of those who started this grand experiment in Freedom. Those kinds of individuals still exist, and the character of those early Patriots can still be found.
I just wanted to let you know that those leading this fight will see it to the end. I will remind you that the vehicle used in the Tillman case was a Congressional Hearing. That is where this is going now. Read the stories in the press about what happened to those involved in lying and covering up in that case. This is going to take a little time, and it is going to be a tough fight, but YOU will prevail.
You may read this whole series of posts here. Anyone who has information regarding this case or who has been a victim of similar harassment is encouraged to contact Randy Wade at Congressman Cohen’s office.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
As of late, you have been reading about the absolute lunacy taking place in YOUR Tennessee National Guard. I, along with many others over the years, have been (for lack of a better term) screwed by Senior Officers covering for other Senior Officers; even if they are total morons. This past weekend was unbelieveable.
I got the pleasure of seeing my former Commander, Major Stephen Baird(of Blue Collar Republican fame), wearing Lieutenant Colonel rank. Yep! That’s right! After being told by someone in Headquarters TN National Guard, that Baird was relieved of command because of the way he handled my situation; 2 months later BAM! He got promoted. Screw-up, Move-up you ask? Baird served in the USMC for 10 years before being “let go.” I thought that was odd, because at one time, I thought a lot of Baird. After discussing this with three Marines, 1 each: Colonel, LT Colonel, and Captain; I was informed that there is only one reason the USMC dumps officers at the Captain rank…….it’s because they suck as leaders! Hence speedy promotion in the TN Air National Guard! Even worse: The guy looks like he is 18 months pregnant. (sorry Steve this is what you get for being a good ‘ol boy. You could have told the truth) Apparently weight and fitness standards only apply to enlisted people.
Don’t get me wrong. I saw MGEN Hargett/Adjutant General, TANG (of Blue Collar Republican Fame) this weekend, and he’s not a lard-ass. My Traditional Wing Commander Colonel Doug Delozier, is not a porker…..but the VAST majority of the leadership at my base IS! (no LTCOL W. not you) I know a GREAT Staff Sergeant, the place could not function without. He was demoted several years ago for his weight. He lost two stripes, and he is nowhere NEAR the size of these people. Never was. Everyone on base knows it happened, but none have the integrity to do the right thing.
One last thing regarding the title:
I was in a meeting with the 118th Airlift Wing Command Chief (Senior Enlisted Person out of 900 people)!
Command Chief Master Sergeant Margaret Gilbert was speaking about asking her church group to donate items for the wing Christmas party. She said: “I can ask ‘dem ’cause after all, we soldiers; we in the army………”
Uh. Ladies and Gentlemen: “We” are not “soldiers”. “We” are not in the “Army”. I was absolutely dumbfounded. After 25+ years IN THE AIR FORCE/Air National Guard, the highest-ranking Non-Commissioned Officer in the 118th Airlift Wing in Nashville, does not know what branch of service she belongs to, or the common name for her people: Airman.
I am appalled, to say the least!
I know it has been awhile since I last posted anything on the TN ANG story. For many of you this is your only source of information and may be feeling like nothing is happening because of the silence. Quite the contrary, much is going on behind the scenes and you have not been forgotten.
Since beginning this series of posts, I’ve heard from many of you who have expressed concerns surrounding the environment of fear that exists in the TN ANG. For females especially, the working environment is one of blatant hostility and sexual harassment. Those who happen to be minorities, a similar situation exists without remedy. And those who dare stand up for their rights under the law or report violations of the law by others find themselves in a nightmare scenario of retribution which most of us will never be able to fathom.
The sad part is, the leadership knows how to use the system to perpetuate their management philosophy of “I’ll do whatever I want when I want, because I can!” The legal system has been of very little help at all. The Federal courts claim it is a State matter, and the State courts say it is a Federal matter, so victims find themselves in a legal “no-man’s land” with nowhere to turn.
But that is changing. Federal and State lawmakers are working behind the scenes to do whatever is necessary to resolve these issues. Progress may seem slow to some, but there is progress, so don’t give up the fight. The next step now is in Congress with the Judiciary Committee. In the meantime, it is important that those of you who have not stepped forward do so now.
We at BCR are in this fight until it is won. Thank all of you again for your service to this Nation.
