WHAT'S YOUR VIEW?

The Lester Street Murders aired tonight on A&E's First 48.After viewing the show what is your view on the murders and do you still believe that just one man committed this crime. I missed the show by was there anything shown other than a confession that convinces you that this was just the work of one man?

the kid who survived fingered "Jr", and Jr broke down. Jr did it - all by himself.

i saw the show and i don't care what anyone else says, but just one person did not kill all those people. i think the child said junior because that was the only one that he noticed but more people were involved and the brother will not reveal them. he probably fears for his or his family life if he did tell so he is just taking the rap for the whole thing. it just not make any sense to me. i really feel sorry for the mother for she has lost 2 sons in the process. me as a mother would not want to be in her shoes. she is a strong woman to have to deal with this situation. the children will have to have some serious therapy after this for this will affect them for the rest of their lives. god bless them all.

Its on again Mr. Matthews, I really think you should watch it. I do not believe that one man committed this crime. When the police came in they said two guns were used and the gun next to the couch had not been fired. When they first went to interview the child they said he was to heavily sedated and traumatized to give a reliable statement. But then he gave one two days later and they base the whole case off it.They manipulate people into saying what they want to hear. They dont play the whole tape. What ever happened to the concept of the blackout? They just disregarded that. Two guns were fired. If they were arguing when they came in the house, that to me is to random to have two guns. Cecil never fired. Four adults and no sign of a struggle? It just doesn't add up to me.

First of all let me say that this is the most disturbing thing I have ever heard. I cried after watching this show. I could not believe that a human being could be capable of such heinous crimes.I am just deeply saddened at the reality of the world we live in. I also believe that he committed the murders alone.Jessie seemed to have problems with his family since a early age and the sibling rivalry between Jessie and his brother Cecil was nothing new. Jessie is a very sick individual and he needs some help especially since he could harm children and leave them for dead, not to mention he came into the police station and talked to the police as if he were innocent. He showed no signs of remorse in his initial interview with the police, he even had a smile on his face. That hurts my heart. I will never forget this case and I will keep the mothers who lost so much in my heart. As far as Jessie and Cecil's mother, I just have to say she is a strong woman she definitely has God in her heart because even after her son's confession to the murder she still embraced her son as a mother would and showed no signs of anger. I cannot begin to imagine the heartache and pain she has lived with over the past months. God bless the family and friends.

YES I BELIEVE THIER WAS JUST ONE PERSON THE CHILD SAID JUNIOR WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT WAS THERE AN THATS GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME. HE HAS CONFESSED SO WHAT MORE IS TO SAY EXCEPT THAT YOU HAD NO BUSINESS PUTTING THAT DEAD GIRLS PICTURE ON THE WEB. I HOPE HER FAMILY SUES YOU AND THE FUNERAL HOME. WHAT MAKE ME MAD IS SHE HAD COMMITED NO CRIME AND YOU WOULD NOT LET HER DIE WITH RESPECT.

Mr. Thaddeus,
I think "The First 48" did a poor job of that massacre, because they tried to condense the show into a one-hour episode. Because they did not include the other victims families, they did not reveal the fact that the children were kept away from family members and they never mentioned that someone heard gunshots that Saturday night, I feel if they had aired an extended special on "Lester Stret", then, the show probably would have been better. They didn't even explain or let Jesse describe how he was able to kill all of the adults before he killed the kids (or maybe this information would caused them to exceed the regular one-hour show?).

Anyway, I have to run now, but as soon as I can, I'll give you more of my opinions about it.

Oh, and I want to say that I learned more about the case from your blog and Memphis local news websites, than from the show

OK, talk with you soon, and God Bless.

I saw the show all the way through. I have been with MPD over 20 years. I have no reason to lie to any of you. I have never been assigned to the Homicide Squad, and I myself wondered how they solved this crime. I personally know most of the officers you saw on that program...and have known most of them since they were rookie officers, and they have known me since I was one. The Lester Street Murders were a nightmare to all of us. Director Godwin, love him or hate him, made sure that this atrocity would be solved as soon as possible. The detectives you saw on TV lost many hours of sleep trying to solve that crime. They were both black and white professionals working together toward a common goal. I watched them do it from a different unit, and I was thankful that I didn't have to endure what they did, although I would have had I been called upon to do so. The citizens of this community need to realize that the officers in this city, for the most part, are here to protect you and your families. We sincerely care about the job we do and are always happy to collar the bad guy...hell, it's the only job satisfaction we get. I'll be the first to admit that we have guys out there wearing badges they don't deserve on their chests, and you can read about them in the paper as they go to jail. I just want you all to know that there are dedicated professionals, many more so than those who slip in between the cracks, that really care about your safety, than there are bad cops in this community. The oath we take means alot to us. And when a bad one goes down he goes down alone. We are here to help mankind...bottom line.

There were a lot of rumors floating around the city about this incident and after seeing this show, I still don't know what or who to believe. I still believe that no one man could have committed this crime but the guy confessed and did not name anyone else as an accomplice and no, there was nothing revealed on the show I saw that would convince anyone that this was just the work of one man except for the confession.

Jessie confessed to his MOMMA that he did it and when she asked why he killed those babies he said. "They saw it." Jessie acted alone in a pyscho rage. Nothing more needs to be said.

they said for the bullet shells found it was two guns used a 9 and a 380, broken knife plates everywhere, and what looks like to me 2 x 4 planks, Armstrong mentioned a possibility of 2 to 4 suspects. Jessie took the blame because he know more and he thinks he is safer in jail.. just my opinion..... oh and BTW he a shot gun on the side of the couch wrapped in a comforter never used HMMM i wouldve been shooting dat thang like a mad woman especially for my kids lives....

The murders could have been the work of one man. Jessie Dotson got quickly out of control and everyone in the house may have been too stunned (or intoxicated) to react quickly.

The house appeared small which likely cornered the victims who didn't have many places to run.

Footage of the victims weren't aired. Usually the First 48 will show blurred images. However last night, the only footage was removal of victims by the medical examiner.

I understand not showing the children but the positions of the adult victims could have shed further light on whether this could have been committed by one person.

The only question is Shindri. Did she bleed to death on account of gunshot wounds to the leg? Her death seems a little strange.

In the end, you have to be thankful that the 9 y.o. survivied. Even though Jessie Dotson acted a little strangely during his initial questioning (emotionally detached), it does not apear as though he was suspected. The police were too busy looking only at gang members.

I still think it was one man...after hearing the little boy testify to it and the man own up to it, it seems logical

I never could imagine a person killing their entire family,until I saw and heard Jesse Dotson.At first I thought perhaps he was protecting his remaining family,that his confession was a setup by the police to bring out the 'REAL KILLERS'.Jesse Dotson is evil personified!!!The expressions on his faced showed that he was evil,the way that he talked told you he has a mental problem.After watching that I am convinced that that borderline defective is capable of anything.They should put that THING out of his misery,by lethal injection.

The show was heartbreaking and very difficult to digest but worthy of seeing because someone needed to hear the stories of the victims, especially the kids. With that being said, the first thing I thought was how was he able to murder all the adults at once. No one had the opportunity to run and get out of the house? None of the children could run to a neighbor once the shooting started? It wasn't clear to me how one person could murder all of them as if they just stood there and waited their turn. On the show, they never challenged that. He only mentioned the weapon his brother had I believe and that he sat it down and that's when he took it and began shooting them.

Initially he tried to lead them on a wild goose chase about the GD's being involved but that didn't work when the kid in the hospital identified him in his statement to the Detective Caroline Mason. Once they played back the recorded statement the kid gave, he knew then that he could no longer deny anything. The kid specifically said that Uncle Jr. stabbed him. That broke my heart and I'm way in Texas!
I'm thinking his prison mentality of always having to defend himself kicked in and he just lost it in the heated moment. Now, he really won't have family to visit him and stand by him much. His mother hugged him on the show after he confessed it all to her in the interrogation room. My heart goes out to that family. As for Jessie Dotson, he knows his future is a wrap and he will never see the 'free world' again. His home is behind those bars for sure. It's a total loss all the way around!!! Good job to the Memphis, TN Police Department on this case as well. It had to be a very restless, emotional ride for them also to pursue something of this magnitude. Thanks for allowing us to blog about it and get it out as well. I wanted to help those surviving kids from here while I was watching the show. I pray that their future and whomever they live with will be positive from here on out. They have seen and suffered enough. GOD BLESS THE KIDS, THEIR GRANDMOTHER, AUNT, AND ALL OF THE OTHER SURVIVING FAMILY MEMBERS OF THIS FAMILY AS THEY SET OUT TO PUT ALL THIS BEHIND THEM AND TRY TO MOVE ON FORWARD INTO THEIR FUTURE.

That was how it was and yes one man could have done it. Remember that was family (domestic)so no one would have ran. Think, if you and a sibling were into it, the friends would stay and try to break it up, not thinking you would shoot them. The kids (nieces & nephews) would be in shock once again still not thinking their uncle would kill them. So everbody would stick around for the outcome.

The show was not as exciting as I had hoped. I think I saw more dead bodies on your blog than I did on the show. It would have been nice to have seen a little bit of the actual body position to see if it had met up with Jessie's story that as soon as Cecil put the gun down that he started shooting. I just don't understand how no one heard the shots. I also don't know about that door being wide open via the 911 caller, if they were as big of thugs as believed how did no one not wonder why they were not out and about Sunday with kids running around. Also if the infant was found on the couch why wasn't she accidently shot. I think its possible things happened the way they said but I would need to see then spray of shots and position of bodies. I still think it should be an out cry the kids aren't getting the money. I hope the family never gets the kids NIcole and Momma were sorry excuses for grieving family members, I still think NIcole was involved some how.

i still cant believe jessie dotson could do this to his own family and if he wasnt alone in the killing why didnt he say anything? and why was he so calm through it all and described how what he beat and stabbed the kids with. and why does he act like he didnt know what went on between cecil and the gang member doc holiday? it seems like that time in jail did nothing for him. the thing that gets me is he said cecil owed alot of money like 300,000 i guess he robbed and he said something about the mafia and that is the only thing made since to me. i think they killed them he went along with it out of hurt and revenge, and might have gotten threatened to be killed if he didnt take the blame. but if he did do this alone he ought to be ashamed of himself.

Anonymous said...

I will never believe that he acted alone. I think he may have been threatned to take the charges solo. His family would be at risk if he was to tell who else was involved. Gangsta life isn't a joke, and he just ended up in the middle. I don't think that detectives went far enough to get any more information out of him. They seemed all to happy to just have someone to put the rap on. God knows, and to those who were involved, Your day is coming. I hope you suffer 10 times what the victims felt. They should put you in a wood-chipper slowly and let you feel the pain of the family, and the victims. I'll have to say though that a mothers love is strong. I don't think I could love him (Jesse) the same after taking away someone that I love regardless of what type of life they lived. My prayers are with the kids, and I hope that they don't end up as a product of what they lived. Hope is there, and success can be yours. Thaddeus, you need to let us know how things are for the family now that things have somewhat taken a back burner. Is Jesse in protective custody? Is homicide still working to see if he acted alone. Has the kids been interviewed anymore. I don't think homicide will dig too deep into this one just to protect the family, and keep some budget money intact.

I do beleive now it was one man who did the killings. As much as I like your blogspot Thad, you've been wrong. This guy was just crazy. He was smiling during the first part of the interrogation. Then when he confessed and requested to speak with his mother, He still had the presence of mind to say yes and no ma'am. He even showed manners to The Lady Dectective. He just snapped and showed how one man can kill all those people. they weren't all found in the same room as originally reported. I think you owe your readers an apology, Thad.

As I stated I did not see the First 48 on last night, but I do know that the surviving child was ynder heavy sedation at the time that he fingered his uncle, why were there so many different guns found, and if someone else had a gun that was in that house why didn't they shot Jessie?

Of course the show does not tell everything. But Jessie Dotson seemed a little slow to me. His sister said he even changed after prison. Sitting in many homicide interviews myself, it is hard to say because I am sure that was not the complete interview. I was trying to look at his hands for wounds but could not see any. Were there any documented wounds on his hands? Something that violent would most likely produce wounds. Also, when they first spoke to him, he brought up the DOC character after another witness brought him up (that was a relative so maybe that was implanted in that girls head by Jessie). I guess in a murder like that everyone should have been the suspect. Just for basic investigations, If I first spoke to Jessie, I would have requested a voluntary gun residue test. Everyone is a suspect at this time, every witness should volunteer information or physical DNA, or other tests to quickly eliminate them. This should be common practice, How many murders get solved only to find out you have already interviewed the individual as a witness. I would assume they would have had phone records to prove the sister saying someone called to the apt. Once the Apt was cleared did they ck for fingerprints even though there was no forced entry. Remember there was 4-5 days of investigation crammed in one hour so they might not have shown that. Also, when Caroline Mason interviewed the little boy the first time, she made it clear it was more that one person by her account of what the little boy said. (Pretty dramatic by her, that was definitely for the cameras, I felt like I was sitting around a camp fire listening to a ghost story.) I could see in Ricky Davidsons eyes he was not comfortable with the way things played out. I think he thinks there is more to it. I would agree to that as well, for what I saw. I definitely would have kept Terry Max out of the interview, he jumps to conclusions to much. Once something is said, he thinks it is the gospel. This is a bad habit to have for an investigator. You have to be open minded and anything is possible. For Tony Armstrong, I believe his tactics were executed good with the "I care about you" scenario. The suspect quickly jumped back to reality and put a block up after this went on for to long. I guess if I was to be critical of his interview, I would have stayed to the "I care scenario" and not left the room, tried to break him when he was crying, (It was not your fault, an animal came out, this is not you, just for example). When he came back with the tape, the quivering of the suspects lips did show signs of stress. I am not sure how it will play out with the mother getting involved either. I think that was a bad idea. People tend to be more comfortable around family, or even lie to get themselves out of harms way. Anyway, back to the confession. I am assuming there is more detail given by Jessie Dotson on the investigation. It did not show it on the shoe, but I hope they got more detailed, for example, describe the knife, describe the blade and handle, where is the knife, what type of gun, what caliber, where is the gun now, where was everyone located in the house, what were you wearing, where are those clothes, where did you go after, (Interview anyone he saw after the murder and ask how his demeanor was). Those are just a few questions. I would assume all those were asked. If not, the kid is slow and that could be easily shown as a coercive statement. This could have not been an easy case to work at an emotional level. Also, with the gang stuff, some of that crap was fabricated. I hope they called on other jurisdictions regarding the gang stuff. The overseer in Memphis is not hard to find. That is the first time I ever heard of a "blackout". I believe that was some crap that individual made up. I would have went directly to the main guys which are not to hard to find if you keep up with the intelligence. Anyway the show was entertaining but I think it made them (MPD) look a little disorganized the way it was produced. I know you have to sift through every lead, but do the basic stuff. That was not a pre planned murder, there were many mistakes made by the killer(s) and those have to be caught at the first.. Also, has the case been resolved? If not I would think a defense attorney could argue his case is tainted and that it should be moved because critical evidence (The interview) was publicly viewed. This show definitely made Jessie Dotson look guilty. Strictly my opinion.

I sincerly feel that Jessie(junior) was the only one that committed those crimes. I can see Jessie carrying more than one gun packing like someone from gunsmoke. Most gangmembers carry more than one weapon. It states that Cecil reached for his shotgun but Jessie drew first, just shooting and killing everyone. There is no help for this man who murdered his brother, the other 3 adults, and the children. For someone, to beat and stab those kids like that, is senseless. I truly believe that he should get the electric chair or what ever will kill him first.

I most def think more than one person did it. In the beginning Mason said that the little boy said that THEY knocked on the door and came in and started fighting. He said THEY had them all in a circle. I think the uncle is scared to death to snitch on the others. Towards the end they didnt even mention why there were TWO different shell casings. The ending story did not match up well with the beginning story, and that little part they played of the child telling on the uncle was so SORRY. It went like this: Mason: You got shot in the chest? Child: Yes Mason: And who did it? Child: Junior. I bet that child said wayyyy more than that!!!

Anonymous said...

That family knows wayyyy more than their telling!!! Because if I was that mother sitting there after Cecil confessed, I wouldve slapped his effen head off!!!

Anonymous said...

I've always been somewhat doubtful that one person acted alone and the investigators seemed to think there were multiple suspects and seriously looked into the possibility of gang retaliation but then Jessie confessed and the case was closed. He seemed very believable when he told his mother he'd shot Cecil and that he had to kill the kids because they saw. But after watching I still wonder if he is protecting someone and maybe the investigation was closed too soon. He was detailed in what led up to shooting Cecil but then it was all very vague. Seeing blurred images of the bodies like they usually show would've let us see if his version was believable. I'd be curious if the DNA testing on the evidence is consistent with one killer.
I guess we'll probably have to wait until this goes to trial before we get to hear all the facts.

Anonymous said...

I strongly feel more than one person committed this crime. Since they want to go on what the child said, what about the child telling them it was a big circle of a fight. Shouldn't Jessie have scars if he was in a fight? Personally, I think Jessie is a little "off" and he confessed out of fear. He does't even understand what he is confessing to.

Anonymous said...

Cecil is dead. You are a dumbass!!

I didn't see the show, just read the various comments. However, I have witnessed people who are able to go "off" faster than you can blink your eye. I also know some who can make up a lie quicker than you could get a word out of your mouth. There are also people who are able to do things and truly not remember at all. My brother was a sleep walker. I was a sleep talker. I fell asleep on my couch one night. I had been scolding my niece most of the day. I saw her come down the stairs, go to the refrigerator, eat and then went back to bed. When I asked her about it the next morning, she tearfully told me she did not do the things I was accusing her of doing even after I showed her the evidence. I believe that people can be demon possessed even in 2008.

My heart sits heavy on this Wed Morning. The horrible crime which occurred on Lester Street is devastating for all involved and has affected even those far away, including myself. The homicide team did a great job in resolving this case: I believe Junior acted alone! We may not be able to comprehend the psyche of this individual. May the Lord bless the surviving children; and give them the strength to get past this horrible incident.

I do not believe that Jessie Dodson acted alone in the crime; I believe that he had help. Or he was made to watch and provide some participation. I believe the First 48 as well as the city made sure they only allowed people to see what they wanted them to see regarding this case. That would make sense if you are still actively looking for suspects. If a person thinks the case is closed they would be easier to find. Also if a major player(s) committed this crime then it wouldn’t be good for the city to know. It could produce mass hysteria. The citizens would then put hard pressure on the MPD as well as the city government. I also believe that the sister knows a lot more than she is saying especially now that I saw her.
Here are some of the reasons why I think that the MPD as well the First 48 isn’t telling the entire truth.

• The first 48 always shows the bodies lying where they find them. They weren’t allowed in the house until AFTER the bodies were removed. Please note that the kids where found in a separate location than the adults. Maybe because there where things wrote on the walls.
• There was no coverage or interviews of the other victim’s families.
• There were shifting period where it seems that information was left out.
• When Caroline Mason first spoke with the child he said THEY came in the house. She asked who let them in he said my MOMA. Are we to believe that Cecil Dodson didn’t have a KEY to his own HOUSE?
• Then when ask who did this to YOU he said Jr. Why wasn’t the question asked who did this to your MOMA?
• The First 48 didn’t show that they actually took things from the sister’s house….(why)
• It was very clear that all the members of the Homicide team where shaken by this event. As it was clear that they had never witnessed anything like this before.
• What person who sack up all shells in a zip lock bag and not take them with them. Also the 9 mm and the 380 weren’t found.

These are just some of my observations. I just ask that we look at all sides of the coin.

After watching the show, I don't think that one person did this along. The kid said a there was a knock on the door and mama open the door and "THEY" were in a circle and began to fighting..I think the robbery did happen (statement from the teenager) she had no reason to lie...I guess that was her mother seating in front of her...My question is with Cecil lifestyle how was he a good father..Having "GUNS" and "DRUGS" around your kids that's not a good father. With all the kids that he had "WHY"WHY" would these mothers let the kids live in that environment...

It's strange that just before the kid told who stabbed him. Nicole calls the police to say someone was in her apartment. Gave the officer her back door key come on now. Yes Nicole & the baby mama that made the call to police both know more than they are saying.

Jessie asked to talk w/his mother not Nicole (who he had been living with). Thad I learn more about the case from your website and Commerical Appeal.

I have say a good job to the Memphis Police Department my heart goes out to them...They have had several sleepless night.My heart drop when they carried that child out of the house in a body bag.

I don't think he acted alone, no way no how. Plus the 1st interview with the child he said "they knocked on the door" and his mother answered the door and let them in, then they were in a circle fighting. That doesn't go along with Jessies confession where him and Cecil returned to the house together. Plus there was broken knives ALL over the house. In between him getting more knives and wood planks to kill the kids with, not one of them could get out the door a mere 20 feet away? Doubt it.

I HATE YOU MISSED IT THADDEUS! BUT EVEN THOUGH THE CHILD FINGER JESSIE AS WE ALL KNEW BEFORE THE SHOW, I STILL DON'T BELIEVE HE ACTED ALONE! I DON'T THINK THE GANGTER DISCIPLES SHOULD BE DISMISSED IN THIS EITHER!

I KNOW LT. ARMSTRONG PERSONALLY, BUT SITTING THERE WATCHING HIM PULL THE CONFESSION OUT OF JESSIE DOESN'T FLY RIGHT WITH ME. WHEN HE ASKED HIM, "WHAT DID YOU DO TO THE WOMEN?" JESSIE SAID, "NOTHING" THEN ARMSTRONG SAID, "THIER DEAD" JESSIE THEN SAID, "I SHOT THEM" WHY DIDN'T HE SAY THAT AT FIRST? HE IS TAKING THE FALL FOR THE GANG DICIPLES, I BELEIVE, TO SAVE HIS OWN LIFE IS MY TAKE.

WHEN THEY AIR IT AGAIN, WHICH WILL PROBABLY BE ON THURSDAY, NOTICE THE INTERVIEW WITH THE FIRST FAMILY MEMBER {THE TEEN GIRL} THAT CAME FORWARD, WHO LIVED IN THE HOUSE WITH THEM BUT WASN'T AT HOME AT THE TIME. WHICH LEAD THEM TO QUESTION JESSIE IN THE FIRST PLACE.

NOTICE ALL THE THINGS JESSIE SAID IN HIS FIRST INTERVIEW.

AND NOTICE THAT DAMN LYING SISTER! THAT CRYING OF HERS WAS FAKE AND SO WAS THAT SHIT ABOUT SOMEBODY CALLED HER CELL PHONE FROM HER HOUSE!

THE ONLY THING I DON'T UNDERSTAND IS WHY THE CHILD SAID THAT JESSIE ACTED ALONE.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thad, Jessie claimed that he and Cecil had been arguing and Cecil went for a shot gun, that by the way didn't looked like it had been touched, so he just started shooting. Now there were 2 different shell casings that were found on a couch in a plastic baggy ... meaning he supposedly used 2 different kinds of guns. So what did he have a 9 in one hand and another kind of gun in the other hand?? PLEASE!!! How can one shoot 2 different kinds of guns & why?
The only way I can see that is if, after he may have shot everyone he switched to another gun to make it look like there was more than one person involved. But I don't think Jessie was all that smart especially since he left the shell casings sitting there on the couch, I guess forgetting them there. And if this is to be believed, which i don't, then it sounds more planned, than an unexpected fight! IT JUST DOESN'T MAKE ANY SINCE!
I did see the show and was truly hurt by the whole ordeal. I think that Jesse acted alone on this one. I also think that the other people and the kids thought that this was just another family fight. Cecil was not living like he was this big baller so the mafia or GD theory was out. They were just products of where they lived and how they grew up. I imagine that Cecil and Jesse have committed many crimes and who cares what happened to them, but the children were innocent. I think their mother did a horrible job raising her children because you clearly see that she raised at least three NUTS!!! I felt sorry for the 12 year old girl (their family member) who came down to tell the detectives what happened; she knew about too much gang and street life. I felt really sorry for her because she is already headed down the wrong path. I wonder was that Nicole's daughter. Nicole or her Mom never showed that they grieved those guys, they are probably glad that they both are gone. I pray that they keep the children that made it through this away from the Mom and the sister. Those kids deserve better; they deserve a chance because all that family knows or displays is GHETTO LIFE! And when I say GHETTO it doesn't mean where you live; its how you ACT!! I hate it for the other adults that was probably just over there hanging out (getting high and drunk), but yall know our elders always told us that "if you fool with trash it would get in your eyes".
If you people can't see that the whole thing was staged ,I see why we are in the shape we are in. I have never seen anyone confess to murder that fast. It seems to me that they were following something that had been wrote out on paper. What ever this is its' bigger than what we are being told. I guest the only thing I can say is that I am glad that I am not in Jessie's shoes.
First of all my heart goes out to the family. I do think Jesse committed this crime along. First, of all the 9 year old said it and why would he lie? Second, Jesse said he did. And last, I'm sure that the knife, blade and 2x4 or 4x4 whatever it is called, came back from the lab showing Jesse's finger prints were on them. I would think the police looked at those reports as well. Jesse is just a sick person that needs a lot of help. You may say he snapped, but he said that he killed the kids because "they saw him". When a person snaps, they snap without thinking, "I have to kill the kids because they see me". They kill because they have lost it and not thinking about covering it up.
It was all staged!We may never know what really happened,because Jessie's punk ass is to scared to tell the truth!He could at least do it for the kids!
I am a former Homicide detective and I thought from the beginning this could be the work of one individual. However, I did not have the pertinent facts of the case so I didn't give that theory much more consideration. After watching the show, I could understand why they concluded it was indeed the doings of Jessie alone. This could be classified as a crime of impulse. Some people can not comprehend the idea of one person being able to kill serveral people like this. They under estimate the spirit of rage. There were several things shown in the broadcast that indicated Jessie acted alone. Personally, I think the producers of this broadcast did a tremendous job in portaying this episode. I feel it was done with tact and respect for the victims and their families. It had a show of humanity without deminishing the serverity of the crime. I applaud the MPD for their diligence in solving this crime.
That is true. One of the people who left a comment said, how did one person kill all of those people and use two guns. I never thought about that. Maybe Junior didn't do it by himself. Who knows? If there were two God has a punishment worse than what we could give him/her here on earth. No sin ever goes unpunished. Trust.
It had to be more than one person...in the initial interview with the 9year old, he told investigators something to the tune of "they all came in the house in a circle and started fighting"
Anonymous said...
Anyone human who watched this was touched and deeply disturbed that someone could inflict this type of harm on anyone, especially children.
There are still a LOT of unanswered questions!!
1) In the 1st interview with the 9yr old, he said "they" knocked on the door and "mama" let them in. Did Cecil not have entry (a key) to his own home? That doesn't make sense.
2) There were 2 types of bullet casings found at the scene? Did Jessie have 2 guns? What is the explanation for that?
3) In past reportings about this case, they said that one of the victims (S. Roberson) was found with her clothes down in a manner to suggest a sexual assault and with drugs on her body. Was this done to throw the crime scene off?
4) Something is still strange about the way the sister handled things. They WERE NOT in prtective custody at the time of the call. Remember on the news they showed the detectives coming from her home with bags of evidence? Supposedly they had Jessie's bloody clothes in the bags. They didn't show any of that on the 1st 48.
5) Last, BUT NOT LEAST, am I the only one who never heard that Jessie Dotson confessed???? I thought they went solely on the tip from the 9yr old. I had NO idea that he confessed.
I am not sure if he acted alone but I truly believe that he played a major part in this tragedy. May God bless this family and I pray that justice prevails.
I have never believed that Jessie committed this crime by himself, and after watching the show last night, it just further confirms my skepticism. In my opinion, there were a lot of holes in the story. The first time they child was interviewed, he stated that his mom let "them" in and "they were in a circle fighting". Two days later when they went to interview him, he stated that "Jr." stabbed him and there was no one with him. According to the reports, the children were found in the bathroom as well as the back room. The child stated that "Jr." stabbed him. He did not say that "Jr." shot his mother and the other adults. Jessie confessed to killing his brother, but when asked what he did to the women, he stated "I didn't do nothing to the women". Tony's response was "you shot the women didn't you" and he stated "yes". I feel that Jessie might have been responsible for stabbing those children; however, he did not commit this whole thing by himself. I also believe that the family new about it because they appeared to be too calm when Jessie finally confessed.
Anonymous said...
Jesse is the one and only suspect in this case. He did it, and the child fingered him. He admitted it. If there were others, he would have said something. Please let it rest and move on. He is the scum of the earth, and he has a date with God. There is nothing on earth that they could do to punish him like GOd will punish him. I pray for the family and the surviving children.
Anonymous said...
For all of you talking about it being staged and how fast Jessie confessed, I can assure you that it wat not just a five minute interview. That is just what the first 48 showed due to time constraints. When someone confesses, they are going to ask a lot of questions about when, where, and how. Do not be confused by what you saw, much more happened than the forty minutes you saw on TV. I am sure more questions were answered by the kid, but the line about "Uncle Jr" was the dramatic line that the show chose to use. Please don't be so naive to think that you are seeing everything. Remember this still has to go to trial and you do not want all of your evidence on TV.
I saw the episode last night, and HELL no I don't believe he did this by himself. I think he might have harmed the kids himself, that's why the little boy only fingered his uncle. Because that's all he saw. And I don't think "Junior" is gonna give the other murder/s, not out of fear for his family....because he done murdered half his family himself, and he spent to much time in jail to have any other family. But because of his institutionalized state of mind. What is giving up the rest of the people gonna do???
This was as awful as it gets... I HOPE! What Jessie did to that family is not something we, as a society can wrap our heads around, but we do have to remember 2 VERY IMPORTANT facts! Number ONE.... Jessie killing & harming his "family" is not like that would be of you and/or I (God-forbid); of doing the same act... he did not truly even know these ppl, as he has been incarcerated for the children's entire lives; & certainly had disassociated himself with immediate family after having been seperated that long. Even though these ppl were his blood relatives(most); he could not have felt the family bond, love or closeness that we understand as growing up with our families. To Jessie, these crimes were towards usual ppl as if they would have been on aquaintances, strangers, or friends.
SECONDLY!! Did anyone else notice that the mother DID NOT AT ALLLLLL seem surprised by what he said that he had done!? I believe she knew he may have been capable of this! Maybe this is ALL he knows! If in fact, this is corect, hopefully he will be executed ASAP & taken out of his own personal misery. I believe this is a case of a man that only knows prison life. Afterall, he was only in the free world for approx 4 weeks before he committed this horrrific act! I AM NOT AT ALL MAKING EXCUSES!! I am trying to bring attention to the facts! What he did, he deserves to SUFFER for! FOR EACH,& EVERY ONE! I wish to God that they would let him go to the public & let us, as loving parents get a hold of him, but seems the justice system protects the criminal more than punish them! I expect great arguement on this, but these ARE the facts!
NICOLE< NICOLE, NICOLE...she know Dam well no one was in her house. That shit was made up to try and make the Police think Jessie had nothing to do with it. She was a lie when she said someone called her from her Apartment. She knew all the time Jessie did it..hell he lived with her ass. He came home with Blood everywhere that night. Hell she is the one who i will bet went and picked his ass up. She did not say he was mad at the Family until they caught his ass. NICOLE and ERICA knows what happen. THe police is DUMB if they think she did not know. She knew but i dont think hid Mother knew anything about it. I feel so so sorry for his Mother. But Nicole's ass need to be in 201 next to Jessie. Jessie killed them all with one Gun. And then got another one of Cecil's guns from the back room and shot them again. that was to make it look like it was more than one person. I think he raped Shrindri after he shot her and she was not dead. He choked her to death i bet. Her eyes was open and her pants dowm. The child/son was in the living room with his Mother when they came in that night. His mother opend the door for Cecil and Jessie that night. You know she had locks on the door from the inside the type of life Cecil was living. The kid sad they came in and was fighting. And Jessie said Cecil kept shooting off at the mouth. I bet Pete and the other Adults was trying to break them up. And once they broke them up Cecil went for the Gun he kept by the Couch but put it down. Once he put it down Jessie bulled his 9 and started shooting. The Kid was there the entire time. He knows who did it and saw it all. The sad thing is he could not do anything because he was in shock at that point and YES he waited his turn to be killed. BUT GOD had another plan and he did not die. GANG MEMPBERS did not do this or NO NO NO once would have lived to tell the story. YOU all need to her real GANG member know how to kill and none of those kids who be alive TODAY if it was a HIT killing. And all of the kids would have been shot as well. Because they would have went with enough guns and bullets. Nicole and ERica should be in Jail for the cover up.
The MPD hasn't solved a case like this in years. Most of them have never had to solve a case like this as long as they have been employed with the department. So how would you handle something like this? Oh yeah it easy to say if it was me I would. But it wasn't you. I think that the Police did a great job on this case. No the police did not suppect the family cause most family members would not kill Children in such a horrible way. They said one of the children had knife gashes on the side of the eyes, now tell me do you think your brother would do something like that to your daughter or son.
It was the type of crime that lead the police to think the family was not involved.
JESSE LIED TO PROTECT THE PEOPLE WHO HE DID THIS WITH. WHEN THEY PLAYED THE TAPE SAYING JUNIOR DID IT HE STARTED TO MAKE IT UP. TWO DIFFERENT GUNS AND A BAG OF SHELL CASINGS. HIS MOM ASKED WHY HE KILLED THE KIDS. HE SAID BECAUSE THEY SAW IT. THE BABIES COULDN'T HAVE SAID ANYTHING SO WHY KILL THEM TO? IT WAS A ORDERED HIT AND HE HAS TO TAKE THE RAP TO PROTECT EVERYONE ELSE IN HIS FAMILY AND HIMSELF.CECIL WAS A "GD". JESSE SAID HE WAS NOT. YOU KNOW IF THEY BOTH GREW UP TOGETHER JESSE IS A "G" TO. CECIL KNEW HE WAS IN VIOLATION FOR WHATEVER WAS GOING ON AND THAT'S WHY HE NEVER WENT TO THE MEETING. HE KNEW THE CONSEQUENCES OF NOT GOING AS THE OTHER EX "GD" STATED. A "DV" DEATH VIOLATION. THEY USED JESSE TO GAIN ACCESS BECAUSE CECIL WAS STRAPPED AND THEY COULDN'T GET UP CLOSE ON HIM LIKE THAT. JESSE WENT TO THE DOOR AND WHEN MRS. MASON ASKED THE CHILD WHO LET "THEM" IN THE KID SAID HIS MOM. "THEM" NOT "HE". THERE WAS PLANKS OF WOOD SHOWN WHERE THEY APPARENTLY HAD BEAT THESE PEOPLE TO FIND OUT SOMETHING. THE PEOPLE WHO DID THIS WERE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING AND THE KIDS WERE TORTURED FIRST WHILE THE OTHERS WERE HELD AT GUNPOINT. LARGE SUMS OF DOPE AND MONEY WILL MAKE YOU DO THE UNTHINKABLE. AND WHEN A HIT IS ORDERED BY THE MOB OR THE GANG, IT IS TO BE CARRIED OUT IN A SPECIFIC MANNER TO ALSO SEND A MESSAGE. THEY DIDN'T SHOW THE BODIES OR ANY REAL FOOTAGE BECAUSE THE INVESTIGATION IS SECRETLY STILL GOING ON.
I still in my heart don't believe that Jessie acted alone. Like many of the statements posted, he didn't have all of the facts to his alleged crime. (He first said he didn't do anything to the women, until Armstrong mention the fact that they were dead. I just don't believe on person can kill 4 adults without one trying to escape or at least make it outside. I was shot at the age of 8 but as a child I was smart enough to escape will the criminals remained in my home. If he just did almost 14yrs in prison why will he leave behind the evidence to convict him to life w/o parole. How did the police find his bloody cloths in sister apartment and she or anybody else not notice them. Why would the mother of his child not enter the home if she supected anything wrong. I would have went inside to check on my child. If he did commit this crime he is a heartless person and need to be buried under the jail, for doing that to innocent children. I do believe the only reason the child finger his uncle was because he was the only person he notice. This case still isn't solve, its more to the situation that Jessie may fear. Why was Hollis body recieved at the morgue in all black including a hat? Jessie may be involved, but he's not alone in commiting these horrific deaths. The house isn't that big, how can he manage to shoot his brother 7x, Shrindri 4x, Hollis, and Marissa without one of their bodies being near the front or back door. I hear gunshots Im running. Why was Shrindri jeans and panties pulled down and a bag of crack inserted in her private.
I watched the show last night when it aired. I still DO NOT believe that this was the work of 1 person! I am not saying that Jessie is innocent, however, I dont think he was alone. The show didnt state how Shrindi was killed. From what I read, I dont think she was killed by gunshot. She was shot in the legs.
The thought of the gang related murders sounds more accurate to me. I have never been in a gang, however I have friends who have, this does sound like a crime which a gang could commit. A hired hit of sorts. I do see where Cecil could have pissed someone off bad enough for the "blackout".
I read the officers post, and I must say you have a difficult job here in Memphis. Hats off to you, but can you honestly tell me that you think Jessie could committ such a haneous crime like this alone? I have lived many places in my lifetime, and Memphis has by far been the most horifying place I have ever lived. Bad enough that I have gone to get my gun permit to protect my children. I will use it to any extent to protect my home and my children.
LOL at sending Cecil's ass to Iraq you dumb ass - He's DEAD. Go figure!
Everyone remember, the police can't tell or show everything that happen at Lester Street. Jessie has to go to trial and if the police give all the facts about the case than what do you think would happen to Jessie? He would walk. The facts will come out in the trial the prosecuting attorney will make sur of it. If Jessie did it along or someone else helped him it will come out.
"I have never seen anyone confess to murder that fast."
And what experience and/or studies have you done that would show us how fast or slow someone confesses to a murder. What's the standard.
"It seems to me that they were following something that had been wrote out on paper."
Who is they?
"What ever this is its' bigger than what we are being told."
Are you just another one of those type people who believes in every conspiracy that comes along.
"I guest the only thing I can say is that I am glad that I am not in Jessie's shoes."
I guess that since Jessie has murdered before and spent 14 years in prison for it, then I wouldn't be surprised about anything he did after that.
After watching the episode of first 48, I believed that no doubt that Jessie committed some of those murders but not all of them and he feels much safer to take the blame for prison has been his home for most of his adult years. May God the mother because I believed that she knew Jessie was apart of those murders because she acted too calm after confession. If I was his mother, I would have knocked one of those other teeth out of his mouth. On the other hand, Ms. Ghetto-Ass Nicole need to be locked up right beside Jessie. Baby-momma, Erica also know more than she is telling; she is probably somewhere now crying over Cecil and lusting for Jessie because rumors were told that her pussy as the first piece of pussy that Jessie had since he has been released from prison.
I did see the show and I have read all of our theories and the one thing that comes to mind is...What happened to us? Where is our pride? What did MLK die for? What did our ancestors take the beatings for? the rapes? Everyone need to stop and think because the black race is being wiped out by the black race. Take what happened here and find a way to get something positive out of it. One of the bloggers got offended because of the GHETTO message, but your response was what I meant about ACTING GHETTO!!! It wasn't said to hurt anyone (sorry that your toe got stumped) but take something positive from it (like change your attitude) because it starts in the mind. I was raised poor in the GHETTO and never felt that I was poor, and did not then or now act GHETTO!! My parents made sure of that. We as a race need to show this nation that we can get it together! We can stop the violence! We can stop selling poison (crack) to each other! We can raise our children to be black and proud! We can stop getting pregnant time after time knowing that we can't take care of the children! We can as black men pull up our pants and take care of our children and their mothers! We as black women need to go back to being real wives to our men and stop trying to be the MAN, real mothers to our children and go back to serving GOD as we should. PEOPLE WE HAVE TO TAKE IT BACK!! GO JOIN A CHURCH ON SUNDAY; IF THAT DOESN'T WORK FOR YOU, THEN GO JOIN A COMMUNITY SERVICE GROUP OR SOMETHING!!!
HELL! THIS IS NOT A SPEECH, IT'S THE TRUTH!!
Tony kept his focus and a open mind. He is a bad ass Man.....and maybe he need to be our Director ? I think he could do the job. All of them are good dont get me wrong i like them all but i kept hearing Mr. Tony Armstrong thinking outside the box. And not looking for what it appeared. And i do think Jessie did this alone. They can not tell you everything on TV. But trust me if Mr. Armstrong is as smart as i saw on TV you can BET YOUR dam last Dollar the case is AIR tight on Jessie. They just need to get that crazy looking ass Sister and put her in Jail. I think she knew what Jessie had did. But maybe she was scared he would kill her too ? I feel sorry for the Mother and my heart goes out to her. Ass she will live with this on her mind. I pray GOD will let her live a with some peace someday. Because as a Mother i know she is asking herself what did i do wrong ? And she may have done all she could do.
GOD HEAL her heart please. GOD please take care of her and let her live a happy life. AMEN
Thad, these are some of the reasons why I felt the show should have been expanded:
• The show never discussed the fact that the woman Erica went to the house the day before she called the police.
• They never showed the brown evidence bags being brought out of Nicole’s apt. by police, after she received that call on her cell phone.
• A 12 y/o child, who was referred to as “an extended member of Cecil’s family” (was she his older daughter, who stayed with her mother that weekend because of illness?), said that Cecil and Jesse talked about robbing an individual named “Doc Holliday.” Jesse said that Cecil had disrespected this person. Since his name came up twice, he should have been looked at more, and not been dismissed so quickly.
• There were 9-millimeter and .380 casings in a Ziploc® bag left on the couch, which lead investigators to believe that more than one shooter was involved. Where are these guns? Why didn’t detectives ask Jesse what was the purpose of using more than one gun? HMM
• Who or what family member was present during the questioning of the hospitalized 9 y/o by the female investigator?
• The boards used to attack the children were broken up. It would seem that anyone, who hit someone so hard to cause the boards to break, would have some kind of injuries on their hands. Did the TBI get evidence from the boards to determine who used it?
• Why wasn’t the family member of Marissa Williams shown? Were they asked and declined to be filmed? These were her mother’s grandchildren, also. Hollis Seals and Shindri Robeson had family members who mourned their deaths, too. Where were they?
• They never showed the positions of the bodies. They only showed their mug shots, but no pics of the children. Weren’t there any regular pictures of the deceased?
There are just some many unanswered questions. I mean, they interviewed a child, who was being medicated for his injuries. During their first attempt to get information from the child, he told them that his “momma” answered to the door and let “them” in, after he was asked “who let them in?” During the second interview, “them” turned into “Junior.”
Thad, I just don’t know what to say about Nicole. During one of the interviews with her, she rocked by and forth. This could have been indicative of a person who was nervous/scared, needed a fix/hit (and I’m not being facetious or mean) or was she just plain devastated by the murders of her family members.
Their mother, Ms. Priscilla, I just felt so sorry for her having lost her sons and grandchildren. After Jessie confessed to her, she got strength from somewhere to hug her son, and tell him she loved him. I continue to pray for them as well as the others' fmailies.
Since “The First 48” did not present a lot of events concerning “Lester Street”, do all of their shows leave out a lot of details?
I agree with anon 12:49 PM “we may never know what really happened…” Also, I believe Cecil and Jesse may have robbed this “Doc” person, and there was hell to pay. Although, I think Jesse knows why they were killed. I feel he participated and is taking full responsibility for the other participants out of fear for his other family members.
Thad, I suggest you get a copy of the episode, and then you wouldn’t have to take our word for what was shown. You’ll see for yourself how it would have been necessary for the show to be made longer, or to be called a “special episode.” There are just too many events to place in a one hour show.
Thad, I know I’m a little long-winded with this, but if you don’t post any of the above, please post this part. We must help one another. We have to call for help when we know something is not right. For example, the man on Lester Street heard gunfire and did nothing. If he had at least called the police, there might have been more survivors, the children wouldn’t have waited so long for help or the perps could have possibly been caught. Just last week, here in Phila., a neighbor heard her female neighbor scream. The lady said she thought the young woman fell over something in her apartment, so she went back to sleep. Well, she didn’t see if the woman needed help and she did not called the police. While she thought nothing of the woman’s screams, the young woman was raped, and then the perp called two of his friends over to rob her. This girl’s ordeal lasted for about 4 hours, all because the woman, who heard the scream, did nothing. Now she feels like crap, too.
God Bless and take care.
i finally watched the show and don't think the truth has been told yet.
what about evidence? if the crime was committed in such haste, wouldn't there be evidence like fingerprints on the blades, pieces of wood or the baggie with shell casings?
if the police found several doc holidays, wouldn't it be possible that there are more juniors?
between the investigation being filmed, the sleep deprived investigators [by their own admission], the testimony of a child who had just witnessed something most adults would have a hard time dealing with, the questionable sister and the accused brother, i don't think the truth has come out.
some might think it makes for good tv, i don't think an investigation needs to be compromised for tv ratings.
i don't believe the results of the investigation. i don't believe if jessie was involved, that he acted alone. i hope he has a good attorney that will ask for hard facts and evidence in this case and not just the statement from a tramatized child.
thaddeus, what ever happened to all the funds for the children? are they getting psychological help?
For all of you talking about it being staged and how fast Jessie confessed, I can assure you that it wat not just a five minute interview. That is just what the first 48 showed due to time constraints. When someone confesses, they are going to ask a lot of questions about when, where, and how. Do not be confused by what you saw, much more happened than the forty minutes you saw on TV. I am sure more questions were answered by the kid, but the line about "Uncle Jr" was the dramatic line that the show chose to use. Please don't be so naive to think that you are seeing everything. Remember this still has to go to trial and you do not want all of your evidence on TV.
3:24 PM
You are the one who is being naive. I would hate to be on trial and you were on the jury. Iam not for sure that the tape of the child is that of the lester street victim. It look to me like the police were not even convinced with Jessie's confession. The length of the confession was about five minutes. You show what you wanted to see. I saw the truth.
I live in Florida. I remember this making national news on CNN when it first happened. I saw the show Tuesday. WOW. I read the autopsy reports the next day. WOW. My girls slept with me the next night because I could only imagine with cringing what those poor children endured at the hands of evil doers. I must say that I am too outdone at, 1st, the hatred brothers can harbor for one another and 2nd, how could you do that type of thing to children; Stabbing and bludgeoning the children in their precious faces. Your own blood?
There was a anonymous witness that stated a "blackout" occurred; I believe that. The work of one man, no. The work of a gang, yes. I believe the gang theory because there were two guns used. The shells were collected and placed on the sofa.
It's sad when one allows things like gangs, which have no value, come between you and the people who love you unconditionally.
i seen the show and i say it over and over again i dont think jessie act along, i beleived some of the things that was said on your blog thad in the lil birdy story another thing the child said they were fighting. now jessie pull out a gun at cecil naw i dont think it happen like that cause those were target shots in the knee.and like i say over and over again i beleive nicole and erica know more ok erica goes to the house door open didnt call the police right off, and the stuff nicole said didnt make sence somebody called her from her house i think that was to try to throw the police off from question jessie and with the teenager is that the one was on the news talking about her dad cecil is that erica child?if that was is possibe they told her to say that to take the focus off them, i really didnt like how they aired it and things still is not adding up, was jessie a vl because nicole had it all over her myspace page letters saying vl then she change it and put jammie fox and a little space have vl writting on it.my heart still goes out to the family and kids a friend of mine work at a place the kids had to go for counslin she said it was sad they had bad wombs and the baby fingers was cut off and they had to bring the boy back again because he wouldnt talk at first my heart goes out to the familys and those kids.
One thing that really stood out to me, was the fact that the 9yr old said "THEY" came to the door and "THEY" were all in a circle and started fighting. It was never clarified who the "THEY" were.
It's obvious that Jessie was involved, but there was no way that he acted alone.
And, did anyone notice that "DOC" had a freshly healed cut on his left hand? (Just between the thumb and forefinger) and his knuckles appeared bruised? How did the police not pick up on that? Or did they?
Also, the 12year old and a stranger all provided motive for his involvement.
And, if you saw how bloody the living room was and the position of the couch from the door, How in the HELL did the baby's mother that came by on Saturday and Sunday not peek in and see that???!!! They said the door was open. And, how could she not smell the odor of all of that blood and death. Something about that is just WRONG!!!!
Anonymous said...
I believe Jessie didn't act alone. I believe the little boy said "Junior" because Jessie was the one that assalted and murdered the children only. From watching the show it seems that the children were in another room, meaning they didn't see anyone else in that part of the house. Someone else had to have killed the adults...
There is no way all those adults were killed and not one of them escaped the house with only one person shooting and stabbing. Jessie didn't have any type of injury either. You would think that someone would have put up a struggle if it were only him and would have hit him or cut him or even shot him. Jessie had no injury at all.
In the Coroner's report, something was found between the legs of one of the women. The Coroner
wrote "crack?" beside that statement. Why wasnt that brought up on the show and why was it there?
It's because most of us know that there's suppose to be a crack between a woman's legs. As far as why was it's there, that's just the way God made em!
i wanted to speak about the massacre personally because i grew up with marissa williams and was a high stepper at raineshaven elm with her.i truely dont believe he commited this all by himself. i just cant picture one guy killing his brother and 3 other adults and 2 kids. but we can all speak on this and what we would have done but you never know what you will do until you are placed in that situation. i pray for the williams ,dodson and robison family and other families that have taken a toll on this crime. god bless jessie dodson soul.
Everyone has an opinion; however, if the brother confessed, the question is, how was he release from prison 29 violations and 3 failed drug tests from the beginning. It is obvious the so-called "incarcerated rehabilitation" did not help him. Jessie needs psychological help and definitely GOD IN HIS LIFE
At this point, I don't know if he did it alone. Here are some things that don't make sense and boggle my mind:
How can one person, kill 6 people, 4 of them grown adults, and not one makes it out the door?
The only way I see this possible would be that Jessie held these people at gun point and demanded all the kids to the rooms and to not come out.
The child who identified his uncle as the killer, stated in the first interview that there was a knock on the door and momma let the person in. Why would Jessie knock on the door?
What about the phone call Nicole (I think that's her name) got on her cell phone from someone calling from her apartment?
How about the shell casings that were in the plastic baggie? Casings from two different guns! So, Jessie shot everyone, beat and stabbed the children in this evil frenzy but still managed to pick up all the casings...and then what-leave them there?
Remember when the detective said, 'Give me your hands?' Damn, those hands looked clean to me- not one itty bitty cut?! With all the violence that went on in that house and all those broken knife blades- is it possible that his hands not have any wounds?
I watch The First 48 on a regular basis. But this of all episodes I have seen, has really made my stomach turn.
Well in the midst of all lets not forget at the time that this happened the family members were interviewed & Hollis' nephew stated he always was known to carry a gun so that may have been the second gun used to commit the crime. Marrissa may have opened the door for Cecil & Jessie (that might be the "they"/"them") I think the team did an excellent job & it is a shame that memphis will be taken off of the 1st 48. I just can't understand why the kids will not be able to see their families/siblings. Jesse has serious issues & the kids need their foundation with some family counseling & parenting classes.
iI MYSELF DIDIN'T SEE THE SHOW(FRIST 48} DUE TO THE FACT I JUST COULDN'T BRING MYSELF TO WATCH SUCH... MANY LIVES(THE VICTIMS) WEERE RUINED INCLUDING THE CITY OF MEMPHIS. MY HEART STILL REMAINS WITH THE FAMLIES.
I WANNA ALSO SAY THAT MY HEART GOES OUT TO JESSIE. REGRADLESS OF WHAT HE DID (GID WILL PREVAIL). I CAN OLNY BE SO UPSET WITH HIM AS A PERSON I FEEL THAT HE WAS LACKING LOVE FROM HIS FAMLIY. HE FELT THAT CECIL HAD THE POWER AND RESPECT. HE ALSO LACK THE SUPPORT FROM HIS FAMILY BEFORE JESSIE WAS SENTENCE TO JAIL YEARS AGO HE HAD THAT SAME POWER CECIL HAD HIS FAMILY LOVED SUPPORTED AND RESPECTED HIM BECAUSE HE WAS THEIR SOLE PROVIDER. ONCE HE WAS SENTENCE HE LOST ALL OF THAT AND CECIL TOOK OVER. NOW THAT CECIL THE MAN EVERYBODY JUST FORGET ABOUT JESSIE OH WE DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT HIM HE LOCKED UP. NOW DON'T GET ME WRONG I NOT FOR ONCE AGREE WITH WANT HAPPENED. HE JUST WANTED TO BE LOVE. NOW LIKE I SAID I DIDN'T SEE TTHE SHOW BUT I HEAR OF HOW HIS MOTHER TOLD HIM SHE STILL LOVED HIM... THAT'S WAT HE WANTED TO HEAR,.. AND PEOPLE NEED TO STOP BEING SO DUMP AND QUOTING STUPID ISH... MY HEART GOES OUT TO U ALL AND THE FAMLIES...
i just watched the recording of the show and i can't believe it was just junior. for all those people to be hurt and/or shot and only one person be responsible, its just baffling. the only way i can see that junior acted alone is if he had serious revenge on his mind and was severely mentally unstable. i just don't get how all of those people were in the house and he was able to kill so many without being bruised himself. i can't say that the child is lying. as traumatized as he was, i can't see the child mistakenly identifying his uncle for killing his parents and siblings. its a shame. i normally don't believe in the death penalty but in this case, if jr is guilty, he deserves it. but i thought it was weird when jr came in the first time to the police station and he acted all calm even after all his family got killed. something seemed real funny about that.
Anonymous said...
I watched the show and here are my opinions.
1. At first it was said that THEY knocked on the door and momma let THEM in. Seems to me if it was Cecil and Jessie, They would have been described as Daddy and Uncle Junior as opposed to they. Also, it was stated that they were all fighting. Once again, who is the THEY?
2. Why would Nichole neglect to tell the police that Jessie was staying at her house for a while? After she left and received the phone call from her empty house and proclaimed that no one should be there, she never mentioned that he had been staying there. No evidence of forced entry so someone had to have a key. Did she suspect Jessie or others but was afraid to tell him of her suspicions? When police arrived, the house wasn't messy or anything. Seems to me like if someone was looking to cause harm, they would have left a "calling card"--overturned chairs, etc., as a warning. So maybe she left without telling Jessie and he called from the house looking for her. She didn't think of that when she told the police someone called from her house? That's when everyone got put in protective custody, including Jessie. Bet she didn't get anymore phone calls from her empty house.
3. Last...In Jessie's confession, he only said he "stuck" the kids. He "stabbed" them because they saw him. A 4 month baby can't identify you. Also, he never mentioned the blunt force trauma the kids received. Seems to me he would have said "stabbed and beat" them.
Maybe someone else stabbed the kids and in the rush to get out the house Jessie may have asked "what you do to the kids" and got an answer of "man, I stabbed them". He probably didn't even know about the beating part. Oh, and don't forget, he said his family meant the most to him in the world. WTF? That's too conflicting. They're the most important to you, but you kill that many of them? Seems like maybe there's a threat of more killings if he doesn't take the fall for this. So he did. Protecting the rest of the family maybe?
I don't think he did this alone. I think his sister has heard something on the street and knows something more. Even if it's just rumors, somebody else knows something and she's heard it.
As someone else posted, he may think being in jail would be more protective for him than being on the streets. Who knows. I just know I'm feel sorry for those kids. Especially the 9 yr old. He's gonna remember this traumatic situation forever. God bless them all.
Toney Armstrong is receiving the most accolades following this episode. I don't doubt that he is a good officer and interrogator. However, who wouldn't have been able to get Jessie to confess when confronted with the tape recording of the kid who identified him?
During Jessie's second interrogation, Tony Mullins & Caroline Mason interviewed him first but didn't use the tape.
Was it Armstrong who made the decision to withhold the use of the tape during their interrogation so he could use it and be the man? He knew the cameras were rolling.
Thaddeus, why don't you post the autopsy reports for each of the victims so the public can see that the gunshot wounds were too perfectly delivered to the knees, thighs, etc. for the shots to have been made randomly. Also, the wounds of the children were too numerous and too random to have been done in a hurry. Also, if a sawsall was used, as was stated on the First 48, it had to have been plugged in. Are we to believe that someone would take the time to plug in their weapon during the course of the crime? No way. This doesn't add up. Please post the autopsies to the public can make informed opinions and get the real facts of the case.
I still don't believe Jessie did this by himself. Further, I don't understand why Cecil Jr. said that his momma opened the door and "they were standing in a circle" who are they? Was Shindri and Hollis already in the house? I watched the first 48 twice and yet it still seems like the truth has not prevailed.
Also who was the nut they interviewed saying" What yall gone give me for telling" Claims all that money was fronted and he had nothinto show for it. Not to mention the pshyic lady who called in and said "Someone did something they shouldn't have done" LOL CLASSIC
WOULD U CONSIDER THIS??????....
*jessie and cecil belonged to different gangs. jessie is VL and cecil is GD. this is not new news, if u know then u know.
*the sibling rivalry between these two went back as far as prolly life it self. in jessie's heart there was not real love for him, and the same is most likely for cecil in regards to jessie. cecil aka G-one loved some of his G brothers far greater than he did his flesh and blood.
***in this twisted duo of brotherhood, cecil was the dominant force. i can only speculate that jessie felt cecil had evertything over him. the girl(which really wasn't that big a deal, shit cecil fucked hoes left to right), the rank, a family, a woman who stood by him no matter what, the goods they stole whether it was guns, money from robberies, whateva; cecil ran the show.
***jessie always felt shortcutted. this is the motive. absolutely not did jessie act alone, but what happened on Lester St that nite/day came soley from the hate, animosity, and need for revenge inside of jessie.
**cecil was hell on wheels now, dont get me wrong. he had aura about him that let u know if he thought u were against him, or if it came to his life or yours he would bury your ass. he was not nothing nice.
**their mom ms. priscilla is actually a respected woman amongst her peers. her demeanor has always been calm and collected and i have been in this womans company on two occasions in which the circumstances then were tragic. she has faith in god, she stands by her beliefs, and we cannot fault her for none of her grown offsprings action. i have so much more to offer , but i will post again at a different time. i need a break from this for now.
The teenage child that was interviewed was the oldest child of Cecil but was not at home at the time she stayed with her mother that particular weekend. I do think the First 48 did a great job with this episode but I do not feel like we got the truth there are to many unanswered questions probably do to the on going investigation and seeing ass this low down muthaf**** has to go to trial I do believe the mother knew a little more than she is telling and Nicole HOODRAT ASS and Erica The Bitter BabyMama knew a whole lot more than they played out tired broke down assess are telling.They all should have plenty of bags under their eyes from lack of sleep due to the fact they are just as guilty as Jesse sick twisted ass.God bless those babies even the two other children he has with Erica and the oldest little girl. May they all rest in peace and May God bless everyone who was devastated by this horrific act of violence.
I dont believe Jesse acted alone and since nobody heard a car pull off Nicole or the other babymama probably picked him up from around the corner.And that family probably new that he did this why was he not on the news he suppose to be so gangsta why was he not out in the streets trying to see who did it? because they all know a little more than whats being told and why is Cecil oldest child still allowed to be around them damn people If I were her mama I would be scared as hell for my child to be involved with that family of wackos! Thad find out if its true that Nicole got the insurance money! If so I dont see how because she should be a suspect herself! And what about Erica's other child by Cecil cant she get social security benefits? I think we will find alot of answers during the course of this trial. In the meanwhile God Bless the survivors and the families of all that are involved! And may the truth come out. Im still trying to figure out how this asshole claimed to have just start shooting yet the baby was on the couch and didnt get hit by a bullet(Thank GOD) and everybody else seemed to have specific wounds! Hmmm!!!!!!
Before i watched the first 48 I was thinking maybe Jessie was framed just so the MPD could calm the community and say they had the killer. BUT after watching the show there is no doubt in my mind jessie killed his family and he acted alone. We heard the recording of the kid and the Sorry sack of shit confessed to his Mamma. So for all you still trying to find excuses to cover for jessie, you need to give it up. I think none of the adults in the house thought it would get that out of control since the two argued all the time, but after they saw him shoot his own brother they knew what he was capable of and probaly werent able to do much to protect them selves from an armed mad man. But I will say he is full of shit when he said he killed the babies because they saw it, how would a 2 month old tell on you. I think jessie had a lot of jealousy issues. o and to the dumb ass that said jessie is protecting the other killers because he is scared for the safety of his family, yea that sounds about right jessie is a real home loving family guy!!!
THIS HAS NEVER BEEN DISCUSSED!!! WHO'S FINGERPRINTS DID THEY FIND??
"One of the people who left a comment said, how did one person kill all of those people and use two guns."
UMMM, HELLO?? JUST TO PLAY DEVIL'S ADVOCATE (BECAUSE I BELIEVE JESSIE WASN'T ALONE)IT IS STILL COMPLETELY POSSIBLE HE HAD A GUN ON HIM AND GRABBED ONE FROM THE LIVING ROOM. THEY SOLD GUNS!!!HELLO??? THEY HAD GUNS IN THE HOUSE HE COULD HAVE GRABBED.
"The first time they child was interviewed, he stated that his mom let "them" in and "they were in a circle fighting".
PLAYING DEVILS ADVOCATE AGAIN....
JESSIE STATED THEY WERE OUT RIDING AND GOT INTO AN ARGUEMENT. SO THEY BOTH CAME BACK TO THE HOUSE TOGETHER. I THINK THATS WHAT THE CHILD MEANT BY "THEY"
"
And, if you saw how bloody the living room was and the position of the couch from the door, How in the HELL did the baby's mother that came by on Saturday and Sunday not peek in and see that???!!! They said the door was open. And, how could she not smell the odor of all of that blood and death. Something about that is just WRONG!!!!"
I THINK THE CONCEPT OF TODAY'S GANGS IS FUNNY!!!
YOU HAVE A BUNCH OF UNEDUCATED, DRUG ADDICT/ALCOHOLICS LIVING IN A RENTED HOUSE TRYING TO LAY CLAIM TO A NEIGHBORHOOD THAT DOESN'T EVEN BELONG TO THEM.
THESE MINORITY GROUPS THAT FORM GANGS KNOW THAT THEY WILL NEVER TAKE CARE OF ANYTHING NICE EVEN IF THEY HAD IT. THEY CHOOSE TO NOT LOVE THEIR CHILDREN. THEY CHOOSE TO CONSTANTLY TELL THEIR CHILDREN "THEY BAD" CUZ ITS COOL. THEY CHOOSE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT NOT HAVING THE OPPORTUNITIES AS WHITE FOLKS BUT SURE NUFF TAKE ADVANTAGE OF EVERYTHING THE GOVERNMENT OFFERS AND STILL DO NOTHING WITH IT. IN AMERICA, EVERYONE AND I MEAN EVERYONE CAN GET GRANTS TO GO TO COLLEGE. EVERYONE CAN ASK FOR ASSISTANCE WITH FOOD, CLOTHING, SHELTER, CHILDCARE, ETC. WHEN THEY ARE TEMPORARILY DOWN AND OUT. BUT THERE ARE THOSE THAT CHOOSE TO MAKE THAT THEIR ENTIRE LIFE AND STILL COMPLAIN THAT THE WHITE MAN TRIES TO KEEP THEM DOWN.
WHITE PEOPLE ARE NOT DRAGGING ANYONE TO LIQUOR STORES EVEN IF THERE ARE 4 WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE OF YOUR HOUSE. GANGS ARE FORMED BECAUSE CHILDREN DON'T GET WHAT THEY NEED AT HOME. NO MATTER WHAT KIND OF HOME THAT IS, OR WHO LIVES THERE. YOU CAN BE A SINGLE MOM WHO CHOSE A CRAPPY MAN AND LIVE IN A SECTION 8 HOUSE AND STILL TEACH YOUR CHILDREN LOVE.
MONEY AND RESPECT ARE SO IMPORTANT WITHIN A GANG COMMUNITY BECAUSE OF THE OVERWHELMING FEELING OF INADEQUACY! SO KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!! WHITE PEOPLE ARE LAUGHING AT YOU AS I WRITE THIS.
YOU ARE KILLING YOURSELVES AS FAST AS YOUR BAYBAY KIDS ARE BEING BORN, ALL THE WHILE YOU'RE YELLING ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT KEEPING YOU DOWN, THEY ARE COMING TO YOUR RESCUE IN THE FORM OF LAW ENFORCEMENT, EMS, AND FIRE DEPT. EVERYTIME YOU SHOOT AND KILL. THEY ARE ALSO FOOTING THE HOSPITAL BILL FOR YOU TO HAVE SO MANY KIDS, AND PUTTING FOOD IN THEIR MOUTHS AFTER THEY ARE BORN.
TAKE SOME DAMN RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOURSELVES, YOUR ACTIONS, AND YOUR LIFE.
LASTLY, GANGS ARE ONLY SO TOUGH BECAUSE THEY TAKE THE COWARD WAY OUT AND USE GUNS INSTEAD OF THEIR FISTS.
And as far as Jessie confessing to his mama that dont mean shit!Its obvious he is not a family man so of course he will tell her anything its not like she had control over her children anyway just look at what happenned! DUH and was'nt it written that growing up he even threatened to kill her and she had to lock him in a room and call the police so he dont give a damn about not telling her the whole truth. They are dysfunctional she probably glad his ass is back in jail sorry about why he went and partying like a rockstar with Nicole and whatever insurance money they collected!May they rest in peace!
When there is the element of surprise, then one person out of control can kill many people. I been shocked by a person's action so bad til I didn't get myself together until the next day. Someone inappropriately put their hands on me.
I also remember the Myrtis Askew murder here in Memphis (her grown son stabbed her to death). There were several people in her house at the time this happened. I imagine that not a one of them jumped on that cuck because as a reaction to them getting into an altercation because it never entered their mind that it would end like it did.
I also remember a case in Mississippi where one man killed about four or five of his friends. They had been playing cards together. I guess the killer got ticked off about something, left the house and came back and shot all of them dead. Who could have known what was in that man's head or imagined who would do something like that. I went to school with that individual and knew him and his immediate family. His mother was a church going woman and they'd always lived with her mother (his grandmother). He was always a kind of quiet person who didn't say much. He was married and was from a close-knit family. Even so, he killed all those grown men.
Before I started wrting this comment, I thought about the event that almost sent me into shock (the hand laying thing). Then and now it was hard to recall details that led up to the event and what I was thinking afterwards. I walked around in almost a zombie-like state probably muttering to myself that "I can't believe that man put his hands on me". I think I was trying to convince myself that it didn't happen.
When I filed a report to the campus's security, I recall feeling like a five-year old child sitting there blaming myself for not reacting quickly enough and not defending myself and not even seeing it coming. The perp was a stranger who justed walked up on me. I scolded myself for not being more alert and aware of my environment instead of getting mad.
I missed the airing and the rerun of the show; so I'm just speculating on what I feel could possibly have happened on Lester Street based on my own personal experiences.
First of all,that child could not be questioned without a Head nurse or a doctor present.Not one time was Godwin or any of the others with him allowed to visit without a nurse or doctor present.There were three nurses asigned at that time,and not one of them heard the 9 year old make that statement.Yes I'm one of the nurses,and we were as shocked as the rest when Godwin spoke.We have been asked to keep quiet but this I had to share.This isn't my computer so it can't be traced back to me.The whole case is a set up lie.
I don't know if by the time the show aired they were all cried out. I won't call names but 1 or some of the family members did not seem to be all that sad to me. Seems like it was just a performance for television. Its sad what happened to that family and now who gets the children when you really don't know if Jesse is the only one to blame....
