Memphis Tennessee infamous for being the city where Martin Luther King lost his life in 1968 will now go down in history as the city that placed the first Black President in the criminal system.On November 4th an over zealous City of Memphis Public Works employee, Gene Soucy cited Barack Obama personally and not the local campaign office for the placement of campaign signs in areas that the city states they should not be.
Obama court date was set for yesterday and after the President -elect did not appear a bench warrant was about to be rendered in General Sessions Div 14 by a judge that was sitting in for Judge Potter who was absent from his bench on yesterday.
The word of this foolish act got to attorney Javier Bailey who also is a Democratic State party member who went in and got the date reset for December 8,2008 at 1:30 PM.
On the very same day that he became President of the United States of America where he was voted into office by millions,He also received a booking number 08725976.
I spoke with Pulic Works Director Dwan Gilliom who stated that he had been expecting my call and was about to refer me to Toni Holliman the spokesperson for mayor Willie Herenton. But as our conversation continue we both found that there no need to call with Holliman because I had more information about the matter then either of them. Gilliom was unaware that President -Elect Barack Obama now had a booking number and wondered why Soucy didn't confer with him on the matter.

Each election cycle a republican operative goes around and writes citations for most of the democratic candidates that are leading in the polls. The citations are normally issued close to election time (to take the candidates off their game and to take money out of their pockets as they near the finish line). You should check the records and you will see that no republicans are cited when they are ahead in the polls. Only democratic candidates. As for the signs, anyone can place them in an incorrect location in order for a citation to be issued to a candidate. Seems kinda odd that McCain did not get a booking number when his signs were illegally placed as well.

Thaddeus, whether you realize it or not, most of those that have posted their comments here are police officers that have nothing better to do but sit around on their fat donut, free burger eating butts and critize the success of others in the City. Many of them have a problem with our Mayor, therefore they attack anything or anyone remotely connected to him. In defense of Dwan Gilliom, I am a former Police Officer myself and have watched this young man do everything right in his career. He went to school as a police officer and got his degrees before leaving the department to go to work for the Federal Government as a federal agent for a few years. After returning to Memphis, I have watched him work his way up through City Government, by actually being something that is rare these days, a public servant. I think it's pretty petty to be talking about where someone lives, and making innuendoes and spreading rumor about someone personal life. And as far as I am concerned, all I have heard is positive things about the job he has done since returning to City Government. Like Dwan, I also left the Police Department after a number of years to become a very successful minority busness owner. Because, I left a number of friends behind on the department that I run into from time to time, I see and hear the envy and hate from many of them that are stuck in their careers waiting on something to happen, instead taking the intiative like Dwan and I did to make something happen. To all of those that want to critize success, let me say that it really feels good.

Mr. Gilliom worked as the former directors Coordinator of Public Works for several years, while completing his masters degree in public administration. Would you be happy if he had of got over looked for this promotion when he probably has did the job while serving as the coordinator of this division.Directors mostly handle the divisions budgets, go to meetings and serve on the Mayors executive cabinet.
