Harold Ford Sr. is a rich lobbyist who left the people of the 9th Congressional district for fame and fortune but now wants to stick his head back into business that does not concern him. He has fooled Steve Cohen into believing that he still has juice in the Black community when all he is is a distant memory.
I find it strange that the same Whites he called "devils" some years ago are ready to now accept him as one of the good old boys solely because of their hatred for Willie Herenton. Cohen and Whites do not realize that Ford could care less about Cohen or the 9th Congressional district but sees an opportunity to assume that he can get revenge on the Memphis mayor for partly destroying the political machine that once ruled Memphis politics.
Any parts that he finds for his old machine will come from other political junk heaps like Maxine Smith,Vasco Smith, O.C. Pleasant, and Russell Sugarmon Sr. Putting all these derelicts together will not garner 500 votes. Former FBI informants Maxine and Vasco Smith have no political and survive off of memories of yester years. The Black community will not rally to them because they have no present history of service.
The Black voter that's 18-30 years of age have no real knowledge of Harold Ford Sr. but know that his son JR. Ford did nothing for the district the entire 10 years he was there. The black community will remember that Jr. Ford's claim to fame and service was passing out turkeys at Christmas,so if senior Ford couldn't get his son who he placed in office to serve how is it that the community can believe that he's concerned about Memphis.
Is Steve Cohen so desperate to be re-elected that he truly believes that Ford can oil up the old machine and work magic or is the plan to use Ford to pull away some votes from Herenton's base, And then count on Whites who hate Herenton to turn out to the polls in groves. But with Blacks being 85% of the district does it even matter if Whites give their total support to Cohen.
Cohen knows to stay in office that he must have the Black vote so while Ford is using him perhaps he's using Ford to divide and conquer thinking that the Black community really gives a damn about what ford thinks.
While Cohen states that Herenton is not a factor he has never had to fight the type of political fight he is about to engage in. No one other than Ford in his camp knows how to fight the dirty fight that is sure to take place. Thinking that Ford knows all the tricks is correct but the question is now that the machine is dead does he have the ability to reach into the hat. It's for sure that Herenton has a bag of tricks and a team of wizards just waiting to use them. Ford also has to remember that many of those he taught how to be politically dirty have mastered his teaching and now find themselves in Herenton's camp
The greatest political battle in Memphis history is about to take place and it's going to get dirty. Political blood will be shed,and body blows will be thrown. And before it's over Harold Ford Sr. will be pushed to the point of being fire hot,so when you see him on fire, JUST PISS ON HIM.

Thaddeus: I listen to your program most evenings driving in from work. I am not a big supporter of cry baby politics and the poor me syndrome. Self pity destroys the man within. There is no Uncle Sam coming to anyone's rescue. Standing on one's own two feet and meeting the world head on and in harmony with it will show if there is any character within. My vote to Herenton. It isn't because Herenton is the smartest, most charismatic, most ethical politician in Memphis. It's just that I believe Memphis will benefit more with Herenton pushing his boxer style leadership around Washington.
