Shelby County Commissioner James Harvey wants it known that he plans to slap A.C Wharton around in the 2011 race for city mayor. Harvey also states that he will be a candidate if the race comes off sooner if by chance present mayor W.W.Herenton leaves office early. Several signs posted at the Sidney Chism Annual Picnic made it real plain that the commissioner plans to boldly take on Wharton.When asked if he really thinks he can win he states yes stating that he win have the money to run a hard campaign against Wharton who some think is the favorite to win. Harvet says that he has no fear of the present county mayor and plans to see what Wharton is really made of. I say put on the gloves and may the best man win.

I whould like to know what in the hell do you see in Wharton to think that no one else has a chance at becoming Mayor of Memphis. The man has done nothing as mayor of the county. He is the trustee of the Benchmark Hotel and we know what happen there. He has served as a cover for the Billion dollar debt the county is in and has done nothing at all to straighten that out. I see him doing the same for Herenton, cover the millions he has stolen from the city. Oh I forgot "He speaks so Well".
Wharton's demeanor would fit right into a perfect role as a greeter at a distinguished southern country club. Lots of polish underlaid with cheap leather, but ready to cover for Willie's rip offs at city hall.

Memphis, why does AC get a free ride to the Mayor's seat. Stop getting played people of Memphis. You must let it be known that your vote is not automatic. There are some " YOUNG BRIGHT MINDS" out there, give them a chance.

I have to agree with Northdeaf because Wharton really hasn't done anything worth mentioning. As a matter of fact for all the times that I have seen him appear at events, he rarely has anything to say. On the one occassion that I did hear him speak at the Prayer Breakfast, he said a whole lot of nothing. Another thing is that I think the man is a sell-out! I haven't trusted him since he cut that deal with Herenton to get out of the last city race! What did he get in return from Herenton or what does Herenton have on him? I don't want to have to wonder that about the next mayor. I think James Harvey is doing the right thing....put up or shut up!

All Wharton is doing is carrying Herentons mop bucket. I dont respect him because he refuses to step out of Herenton shadow. Also what has Wharton done that was significant to Memphis besides record unemployment, High crime and continued over spending. We have got to get some better people to run for these much important positions.
Hey Thad you should see last Fridays Hardball Show with Chris Matthews. Chris made Cohen look really bad and basically accussed him of the same thing Herenton is saying about the apology for slavery. What Chris said was, why are we doing an apology without reperations.
Now I dont agree with reperations because I think we as a country should be beyond it. I just personally want the playing field even, that is what I am a proponent on.

for sure, this is the blog for finding out about the worthlessness of ALL of the political candidates. One and all, none would be worth putting into the recycling containers that are sometimes placed onto our city streets.

This begging for reparations begging just doesn't make sense as the statue of limitations and the death of all witnesses voids any claims.
My suggestion is that those claimants of reparations consider themselves fortunate in having the opportunity of going to work and make some their own way or just staying on the dole while moaning.
Just listen to the county commission meetings online - shelbycountytn.gov - Harvey reveals himself to be a dufus every meeting, without fail!
