Prior to taking his life earlier this month Shelby County Deputy Sheriff Ian Seivwright wrote a four page suicide letter and emailed it to several local media outlets who even though the officers wanted the information in it revealed chose not to. In speaking Friday with Sheriff Mark Luttrell,the sheriff states that the letter was written over a period of several months and that all the allegations have been investigated with no proof being found.
Seivwright alleges that his wife Jennifer who he states when he met her was the greatest thing that could happen to him in life , He speaks of how she started to stay out late at night and how she was sexually involved with his supervisor Sgt Dave Wing. Seviwright states how he confided in Wing who he alleges started meeting his wife late at night while he was at work.
Seviwright states that he had recorders and cams set up in his home and that is how he knew that that his wife and Wing was spending a lot of time talking and how the two set up a night of naked fun. Seviwright alleges that he had his sister watching as Wing met his wife in an empty apartment where Jennifer was half naked. Seviwright states that after his sister called him and told him what was going on he called Wing and told him that he knew he was fucking his wife. He states that Wing begging and claiming that he was sorry and asking him if he was going to take it any further.
Seviwright states that he couldn't believe that his Sgt had done such a thing behind his back after all the drama that he had went through when fellow officer Tom Braswell shot a deer while on duty while training him. Seviwright states that Braswell shot the deer and took it to his house and called officer Aaron Pretti over to see it. Seviwright states that Pretti got fired while he received 1 day no pay. Sheriff luttrell told me that both Pretti and Braswell were fired,But that the firings were not just about the deer. Seviwright also claims that Wing was also present.
Seviwright states that he went to a Capt Sears and a Lt.Luccessi and told them what was going on between his wife and Dave Wing, He states " They both told me that it wasn't right and that they would take care of it" But the deceased officer states that all that happen to Wing was that Wing was moved to HomeLand Security with a take home car. SEviwright also claims to have spoken with Mark Luttrell three different times to no avail. Luttrell states that the officer did come to him but could not provide any proof of the relationship. Luttrell also states that Wing was called in but again no proof was found. Seviwright states that nothing happen to Sgt Dave Wing because his father is Chief Wing.
Seviwright goes on in his letter to speak of a Lt Dave Edmonds. He states that Edmonds was over the Midnight patrol and that one night he came into the roll call room and told everyone working in the East of the county to go to Bridgewater Road and find a Black male and give him some "Street Justice" Seviwright states that he forgot the man's name. Seviwright goes on to state that Tom Braswell and Aaron Pretti found the man and that Braswell beat the man's ass.
Seviwright states that Edmonds denied making the order and that Pretti got charged with handcuffing the man to a building. Seviwright states that nothing was said about Edmonds putting on a pair of SAP gloves (powder lead in knuckles) "And beating the shit"out of the man. Edmonds was move according to Seviwright to Admin Lt. over patrol to work with Chief Wing and Insp Allen.
Seviwright moves on in his letter to a Capt Cobb over all patrol. Seviwright alleges that Cobb called him at home while he was sleeping to yell at him about someone who stole something from a warehouse where he worked. Seviwright states that he made the scene at the warehouse where he was told that an employee might have stolen some items and the management wanted him checked out. He goes on to state that he told the management that he would need a warrant to make such a check unless the employee gave permission for the search.
The employee agreed to the search where three items were found in a truck that possibly could have come from the warehouse but the management was unsure and the items were less then $500 in value. Seviwright states that he told the management that if they could find proof that the employee had stolen the items they were free to have an arrest warrant issued. Seviwright states that Cobb told him that he should have locked the employee up but he told the Captain that it was a misdemeanor not done in his presence and with no proof he also states that he told Cobb that arresting the employee would have violated the person's civil Rights, He alleges that Cobb told him not to let it happen again even if it was a misdemeanor.
Seviwright goes on in his letter to speak of Lt. Oscar Harris who unlawfully pulled a woman's hair and entered her home taking her laptop. Seviwright alleges that Luttrell covered the simple assualt and burglary by placing the report in a sex crimes folder so that it could not be seen by the public.
Next Seviwright speaks of Sgt Jimmy Dollahite who he claims steals gas from the substation by filling containers in the back of his truck. He also states that he followed Dollahite into Fayette County where the officer working the midnight shift was spot lighting deer.
The letter goes on to speak of other affairs of his wife Jennifer including her involvement with two guys from her job, Robert Floyd and Trey. He calls his wife a cheating whore and tells of how she and friend Danille Dunn gets drunk on the weekend he even tells where they can be found driving drunk.
Seviwright closes his letter by stating "In the last week I took care of removing Jennifer's name from all my benefits. I have my sister as my sole everything and she is the sole for all my belongings" He goes on to say "I leave all my personal properties to my sister which she has full power to make all decisions on if any would be given out. My sister will have a list of some of the items that i will send her" Then he ends it by saying 'I hold the SHELBY COUNTY SHERIFF OFFICE responsible for what has happened.
While the Sheriff states that an investigation has been made into all the allegations of Ian Seviwright including bringing in the FBI and Bill Gibbons office why would a man about to take his life lie?

Thanks for posting the letter. The Deputy Sheriffs have been trying to get someone to listen to their concerns and Lutrell don't care and controls the local media.
Mr. Matthews, if you come down to 201 Poplar at the local Judges courtrooms (conversate with the Deputies) you will also learn about the State, FBI and ATF investigation that's going on with the Sheriff and the department.
Several firearms are missing from the property room that have been used to commit crimes on the street and the department purchased over 1,000 rifles that are not used for departmental use and half are missing. Some were sold and other Deputies have been hunting with.
A couple Chiefs used their credit cards for personal use, were disciplined earlier part of the year, bought personal guns on them.
Steve Shular(the gay spokesperson) and Harvey Kennedy (CAO) have had several accidents in their department car and no accident report was filed.
This suicide is the only top of the ice to all the problems on the department. Hopefully, with you now the public will get to see how badly ran the department is.
Lutrell is super band and notrious for covering up problems.
The most criminal thing has recently happen has been the civil rights violations of two black men that every Deputy on the department is aware of and are plannig to try to get the local FBI office to review and if not some are prepared to send it to the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice for review, if the local FBI officials keep blocking it.

Thad, my husband was in management for many years and had supervision over a lot of employees. My husband always told me as a Supervisor you never do anything to take another's manhood away. This man was probably taunted on his job. It's a shame that this man went to his supervisor for help and the supervisor used the information to sleep with the man's wife. Well, then, thank God for Thaddeus Matthews! The fact of the matter is that, before he died, Ian emailed this letter to just about every mainstream media outlet in town. All of them, after his death, refused to publish the contents of the letter.
It is plainly obvious that Ian wanted this letter to be published, or he would not have sent it all the local mainsteam media outlets.
What the poor soul, Ian, apparently didnt realize was that all the corporate powers that be, which control Memphis' mainstream media, are so in the bed with Mark Lutrell and all the crooks down at the SCSO that they would seek to provide cover for the sheriff's office and keep poor Ian's dying words and wishes underwraps.
There is no shame for Ian or his family (other than his trifling wife) in having this letter published because the one thing the letter makes clear here is that Ian is the hero who was trying so hard to do what was right but he could bring no light to the situation regarding all the illegal activities being perpertrated by the SCSO because all the people who were SUPPOSED to help him, actually tried to silence him.
And silence him they did, but Ian had a second plan to get his information out. When this plan B went down, however, all the media outlets conspired with the Sheriff's office to keep the public from finding out what all really is wrong in the SCSO.
Call Thaddeus all the names you wish, but the fact remains he is the only member of the Memphis media with the balls to tell Mark Lutrell and Company to "suck it," and grant this poor soul, Ian, his dying wish that the public be informed of goings-on inside the Sheriff's department.

The suicide letter of Shelby County Deputy Ian Seivwright is an eye-opener to the corruption in Memphis and Shelby County law enforcement agencies, but this corruption extends far beyond this one case and even includes some of the General Sessions Court judges at 201 Poplar Avenue. His personal problems notwithstanding, Seivwright was trying to do the right thing but always got smacked in the face by his superiors. Some of the General Sessions judges are in on this corruption too. Let me call your attention again to the corrupt judge at 201 Poplar Avenue who unlawfully made a black male defendant a fugitive from justice. This judge presided over this defendant's hearing on June 24 knowing full well that the defendant had an active bench warrant from another judge on a bogus charge hanging over his head. The judge did nothing, did not have the defendant arrested but went ahead with the hearing as if nothing was wrong. The judge reset the defendant's case for September 10, but as soon as the defendant left the courtroom, the judge issued a bench warrant for the man's arrest and sent the bloodhounds out looking for the man. This judge even had the man placed on Channel 13's "Most Wanted Fugitives List." All of this happened in one day. My God, the defendant was in the judge's courtroom on bond with an active bench warrant and the judge deliberately ignored the warrant in order to create fugitive status for the defendant. That is why we have filed a complaint with the United States Justice Department calling for this judge's impeachment and removal from the bench. And remember, this is merely one of the strange cases coming out of our corrupt Criminal Justice System. In the federal case United States v. Shelby County Jail back in 2002, a federal judge ordered Shelby County to quit violating the Fourteenth Amendment rights of inmates at SCJ. Now the civil rights of all of our citizens are in jeapardy and are even leading to suicides of individuals trying to do the right thing.

Personally, I do not trust law enforcers already, but something like this makes it even harder to trust them. I had friends that were good people until they became a cop; I do not know what happened to them but after a year on the force they became crazy as hell, both male and female.

I feel so sorry for the Child involved in this. And the Family of both Adults in this Marriage. I pray or Ian Family and hope they are able to move forward. Is there anybody or any organization left that will challenge the civil rights violations of citizens by law enforcement agencies and the Shelby County Criminal Justice System? When Ian Seivwright saw that he was being denied the equal protection of the laws as guaranteed by the Fourteenth Amendment and that the very law enforcement agency that was supposed to be protecting his rights was instead violating his rights, he simply did not know where to go for relief. The results were tragic and effect the civil rights of us all. The Shelby County law enforcement agencies including the MPD are outlaw entities that are out of control. The Criminal Justice Center at 201 Poplar Avenue has become a cesspool of injustice fostered by General Sessions Criminal Court judges who are corrupt and arrogant. Ian Seivwright had nowhere to go for help and neither do the rest of us.
So sad, not much being said to express sorrow to the family over this tragic loss.
My sincere condolences to this young man's family. I don't know you but I'll remember you in my prayers. Sincerely.
