To show the White community how good he is at going after Blacks that were a part of the Herenton administration temp mayor Myron Lousy attacked city attorney Elbert Jefferson for the payment of outside legal fees to attorney Ricky Wilkins. In fact Lousy used the fees as a reason to terminate his services on the Beale Street issue. But to prove that Wilkins firing was personal and political and not about fees the question must be asked why was Wilkins law firm fired and the law firm of Baker, Donelson, Bearman,Caldwell,& Berkowitz hired?
On Sunday I will show proof that it's not Black law firms that's making the most off of the taxpayers of Memphis but White ones. I will provide proof that since 2005 taxpayers have paid the Baker Donelson,Caldwell,& Berkowitz nearly $5 million dollars.
I requested and receive through MLGW the list of attorneys that the citizen owned utility company has used since 2005 and the Baker,Donelson,Caldwell & Berkowitz firm leads the pack each year. I will provide MLGW documents that will show that in 2005 the law firm was paid $19,544.45, In 2006, $395,209.86, In 2007 $2,390,489.80,In 2008 $1,248,733.50.and thus far this year $32,099.21.
I will also provide documents of resolutions that show the increase of hourly rates that MLGW is paying this law firm including the April 16,2009 resolution where the hourly rate is broke down as follows; Shareholders $230,Associates $200, Paralegals $100, Leo Bearman $485.
The City of Memphis has yet to announce what is being paid to Baker,Donelson,Caldwell,& Berkowitz for taking over the Beale Street issue after Lousy fired Wilkins for his rates. But if there is any comparison to what MLGW is paying Wilkins was charging much less.......Hmmmmm.

Thad let the facts speak for themselves. Also because the Mason Dixon poll shows A C Wharton with a large lead, A C says that he was not going to debate a "bottom-rung candidate. That's why he would not debate Carpenter one on one. Thad since Mr. Carpenter stated on your show that if he was elected he would try to have it set up for the Sanitation Workers from this point on be allowed to join the City of Memphis Pension. If the Sanitation Workers were smart they should mobilize and try to get all their family members and friends to vote for Mr. Carpenter. He appears to be the only candidate from a finance matter knows how to address this issue. I hope that the sanitation workers take advantage of this opportunity.

This information sounds correct to my ears. Why does MLGW have so many attorneys on payroll and still have to farm out so much work? Politely stated is it under the table pay back?
Jerry Collins and Christopher Bieber need to be taken before the city counsel and questioned about their alledged racism of the employees at MLGW. Employees are no longer whispering they are loudly complaining about the treatment of these two.
I really want to know why Mr. Bieber was allowed to stay on at MLGW when he lied about his degrees being accepted in the USA. T R A did not agree and made him take them off his title. Why did MLGW always rehire Mr. Bieber after he had worked the limited days of his green card (no one else was allowed this treatment)? MLGW ran ads in the Commercial Appeal to rehire him over and over for the position of V P.

How about the mayoral candidates and other politicos speaking to some of the more crucial issues facing the black community instead of concentrating on matters that involve Ricky Wilkins and Myron Lowery? The black infant mortality rate in Memphis and Shelby County is a national disgrace and has even been featured on national network television documentaries. Yet, so-called black leaders, including A. C. Wharton, will not touch the issue. The Criminal Justice Center at 201 Poplar Avenue is biased toward black people, and the Shelby County Jail, part of the CJC, is in worse shape now than it was when the federal government intervened in "United States versus Shelby County Jail" to stop serious overcrowding and mental and physical abuse of inmates back in 2002. But yet the black leaders remain silent on this issue. And why would black leaders allow plantation boss Bill Gibbons to always target blacks like Elbert Jefferson while ignoring the illegal actions of super white elitist crooks like John Elkington? Moreover, the sanitation workers are often forced to work under dangerous conditions and are not even given adequate medical care when they are hurt on the job. Many years ago, when Maxine Smith was executive secretary of the local NAACP, black Memphians could at least always count on this civil rights organization to be at the forefront of the fight for racial equality in this city. But now her successor may as well wrap a handkerchief around her head, put on the rest of her Aunt Jemima costume, set up a booth at the corner of South Lauderdale and Vance and sell pancakes for a garden club fundraiser.

Myron Lowery had the mayors position in his hand until he got beside himself. He left the grassroot people and when to Jack Sammons. First, In a 2005 CA article called "Born to Die" the health department director Yvonne Madlock admitted that she had no idea that things were this bad" one of her staff nurses Flo Patton stated : we did nothing while other cities tryed different things"( at that point she had been there 14 years) and once she was now AWARE that there was a terrible problem what happened over the next five years? Nothing!

Shelby County Mayor AC Wharton who has made reducing infant deaths a centerpiece of his administration

The overall infant death rate climbed from 12.8 deaths per 1,000 births in 2004 to 13.8. Death rates for black babies jumped even more, from 17.4 to 19. The white death rate dipped slightly from 6.8to 6.3.

It's because Thug, like some of his brothers, are too lazy or too uneducated to get a real job, earn their own keep and pay their bills.

MLGW does not have a lot of attorneys on staff like many companies. Including the General Counsel, there are only five on staff. Therefore, that is why MLGW, FedEx and many of companies hire outside counsel. Additionally, it is less costly to hire the outside expertise in certain matters and let them go when the work is completed.

Too many dead beats use this facility. It would be on a sound footing if the federal government would leave it alone. This would permit the hospital to require a valid credit card, cash or a bank letter of credit and a physicians referral before admission.
