I noticed that the local media played up the fact that attorney Ricky Wilkins had been fired by temp mayor Myron Lousy for excessive spending but never reported that the law firm of Baker Donelson Bearman Caldwell & Berkowitz was about to hired for a higher fee until I reported that while Lousy had screamed about Wilkins firm making nearly $2million dollars in five years, which included a large percentage of expenses okayed by the city council while the large White firm had been paid nearly $5million dollars doing the same period. It was after this revelation that Baker Donelson Bearman Caldwell & Berkowitz decided that they wanted no part of the Beale Street issue of which Wilkins had lead an 18 month investigation into preparing to take John Elkington to trial in March of next year.
Sources out of city hall now report that Lousy and his deputy city attorney Veronica Coleman-Davis have now selected the law firm of Butler Snow to replace the Baker Donelson group with young attorney Van Turner taking the lead. The selection of Butler Snow with young Van Turner at lead appears to be a conflict for the firm seeing that Turner is the current chairman of the Shelby County Democratic Party and Myron Lousy is seeking an endorsement by the local party and democrats.
At least 95% of all Black registered voters in Memphis are democrats and a push by the local party would surely help "The Lousy One" who is not doing well with Black support. Is the selection of Butler Snow a bribe by Myron? Has Van Turner been made type of promise by Myron for the local democratic party support. But more than that will Butler Snow allow themselves to be played in this game of politics knowing that they have a conflict? Is Butler Snow aware that two former Executive members of the Shelby County Democratic Party who still have ties to the party are very close to this case and The Beale Street Development Corporation?

First of all, IF Lousy is a joke in the black community like you say all the time, an endorsement from the joke Democratic organization will have no effect.

I think that the Justice Department is going to look at Myron and this Beale Street situation. I think this move is going to backfire because when you look at the history of Bill Gibbons and the Black Community. When the Code Enforcement Officer was killed, Bill Gibbons cut a deal without the involvement of the victims family. Also when that White man left his baby in a hot car and the baby died, Bill Gibbons chose not to prosecute. The Powerbrokers wanted Atty. Jefferson gone and Dr Herenton humiliated. But what Myron and other's fail to realize that Dr. Herenton is still loved by this community. And the more they and the media bash Dr. Herenton, the more the Black Community is going to support Charles Carpenter. Voters began to take a serious look at Mr. Carpenter after Myron began his foolishness at Memphis City Hall. At the next debate somebody needs to ask Myron about Jack Sammons and that Klu Klux Klan robe that was sent to Edmund Ford Sr. Also someone needs to ask Myron about hiring someone who has been accused of racial comments to Blacks. This man, Mr. Turner has tried to push himself off as a secretary during a meeting with the school board, knowing that he had no business there. I will not vote for Carpenter because of his association with Matthews. However, I feel that Matthews has aided Carpenter's campaign more than hurt it. He has been a very good promoter of Carpenter.

Carpenter talks a good talk about recruiting industry to Memphis, viewing Memphis as an international player not just a national one. He speaks of expanding the bio-medical infrastructure of Memphis. None of this really plays into Matthews "what you gonna do for black folks?" mantra of which I have yet to hear Matthews give clear definition of what that means. So if Carpenter is successful in recruiting international industries Memphis will then have to add European, Asian, South American, and Middle Easter power brokers to the mix with the white power brokers. Thad in Sunday's CA, Myron Lowery is quoted as saying "He is all but certain - "99 and 40/100ths percent" - not to run in the 2011 election. Is the reason that he is not going to run in 2011 if elected is that he will have accomplished the hidden agenda of Fred Smith and others and he knows that he would not be re-elected. Also in that article the CA claims that Mr. Carpenter seems to be targeting the black vote. I went to Mr. Carpenter's website and it shows that he has participated in all types of forums. The reporters at the CA are very ignorant. Not once have they stated that a white candidate is going after the white vote. When I watched Mr. Carpenter in the debate, when the subject of race came up. Mr. Carpenter stated that if all segments of society are busy earning a decent living they would be to busy to hate.
