The CA has become the marketing source for A.C. Wharton for mayor which is the reason that the daily paper has chosen not to report about Wharton monthly payments to Bobby Lanier who was discharged for political corruption several years ago and has since paid him a monthly salary of $2400, But for what?
This paper has also continued to associate Charles Carpenter with Willie Herenton without mentioning that in both 1995 and 1999 Wharton was the campaign manager for the Herenton campaign. The paper fails to mention the meeting at LaChardonnay that Herenton had with Wharton that was brokered by Reginald French. The paper has wrote about the affair of the unmarried Herenton but has yet to investigate the rumor which many in county government state is true about an alleged affair Wharton had with a county employee which ended with a child being born and Wharton moving her out of the city.
Now the CA because of the momentum of the Carpenter campaign wants to throw him under the bus by misstating that Carpenter represented Herenton in a deal to bring the Four Seasons to downtown Memphis. This is totally untrue,which I'm sure the CA knows. Carpenter represented Brown Ventures the group that was making the attempt to bring the hotel to Memphis.

This is my view on Carpenter as well. I like what he says and I think I could have looked past his connection with Herenton. But, his partnering with Matthews is troubling and keeps me from voting for him.
By the way, thinking like Matthews what does bringing a Four Seasons to Memphis have to with black folks. Carpenter supported bringing in a Four Seasons that would not have hired people from Matthews' audience or advertised with Matthews thus Carpenter is against black folks yet Matthews supports him. Myron Lowery was at Vatterrott College today to speak with the students, and that was the worst campaigning for votes I'd ever seen. When the students ask what were his plans, he had the same response to every question..."I dont know about that, I'll see if I can get you in contact with so-n-so, or go to my website". It was like he didnt have the time to tell them what he's done, but he wanted their time at the polls to be spent on voting for him. With this 4 page front and back list of things he's claiming to have done while in the mayoral position at the present time. In this short time, he aint don no 4 pages front and back worth of nothing..that must have been a list of all the foods he don' ate over the past 2 days..cuz he hasnt done anything. Passing out hand sanitizer with a city of Memphis label on it that reads "Myron Lowery Mayor".
I have yet to make up my mind on this mayoral election. I do have a question, Where can I get more insight on the candidates? I tried the CA and thought that was a joke.
Another question or statement that is not sitting well with me: Mayor Pro Tem Lowery has sat on the council for more than 17 years and knows quite well the residency rules. How did he hire Donna Davis and Veronica Coleman? (No one is their right mind would buy a house and based on his temporary status. I could understand if he had this job-permanently.) For this reason I do know if I can trust him. He says he answers phone calls personally, but I haven't been able to get through.

Two thing I have come to realize is Memphis need a Mayor who represent all the people, because with that I believe we will grow for sure, and second, we do not need someone trying to be like Herenton, Herenton was who he was for that time, he represented an old school past because it was needed for the those times,so if any candidate come trying to be like Herenton run! because he is most likely the wrong pick for Memphis, can't nobody be Herenton but Herenton, times are different now, we need somebody who can bring growth and jobs, who can sell our city to new businesses, who can think outside the box to make our city safe, because alot of you know Memphis has a crime problem, so if any of the Candidate are not taking about growth, jobs and education and crime we do not need them, herenton brought the city to a certain point and he did what he had to do get it done, if any of the candidate are trying to be like willie they are only riding off of what he has already done with no vision of their own, so if it look like any of the candidate are trying to copy herenton's energy, than my almeans that's an impostor and we are doom for failure, but at least one thing I can give Jerry Lawler credit for is that he was creative with his own vision for Memphis he wasn't trying to ride off of someone elses work, thad I know you don't like Myron Lowery but you got to see he is different, handler or not he's different but seems all white, however he's not representing the same old ideas, now Carpenter, guess who's coat tail he rode in on, I'll let you guess, and wharton part coat tail rider and part self made, he's either or, he would make a good bridge and he don't just represent black or white because he's inbetween both, however thad appears Paranoia of any candidate with any white business connections, and I did say appear, but who know's who side thad is on?

Agree that some form of it goes on everywhere, anytime a big business like the CA can get a chance to make more cash of course they've got an agenda to root for whoever can bring in more business or whoever will be friendly enough to protect the CA should the CA decide to cash in their saved up chips for future favors.
My beef is the CA isn't being fair to the election process when they spend more ink to sway voters to their horse. It would mean that unless you are friendly to the editor and willing play the scrub your back game with the CA, then no matter how good your ideas to lead this City out of its misery, those ideas won't count for anything if you let the CA influence the elections based on their own agenda.
