While channel 3 has excluded Charles Carpenter from its debate on Wednesday because their polling of 400 people places him in 6th place the candidate for mayor will hold court for 3 hours today on 'The Thaddeus Matthews Show".
Carpenter will continue to present his platform and take questions from callers. Carpenter does not plan to challenge channel 3 or the CA for their polling of only 400 unknown persons who may or may not be real but will use the 3 hours on my show to answer any question thrown at him,and use the time he would have been on the debate to do something that the others will be unable to do,and that is to be out among the voters garnering their support in the last hours prior to Thursday's election.
Maybe one of the other candidates will now ask Wharton about why he fired Bobby Lanier for political corruption but has been paying him a salary out of campaign contributions. Maybe someone will ask Wharton if it's true that he has had a intimate relationship with his assistant Kelly Rayne who he bought over from the Public defender's office and who in 2006 gave a $14,000 raise in one year. Maybe someone will ask him since on the last debate he stated that he was in shock when I called Myron Lowery a "Good Nigger' on my radio interview with the county mayor "Why are you seen on the video of the show laughing?"
These are the questions that Charles carpenter had for A.C. so maybe that's why he's not being allowed on the debate,But it's no holds barred at 4PM on AM 990 KWAM

Wharton, the other candidate knocked by Thaddeus with sixteen times plus support of Wharton over Carpenter.
Carpenter had plenty of funds from his millions in legal fees for a lawyer with little government experience prior to being anointed by Willie, but this gave him the funds to be a stand in for Willie in this election.

It's little wonder that Matthews had ads for only two candidates out of twenty five where in the most recent poll, published two days before the election, Lawler and Carpenter came in fifth and sixth with a 4% and 3% share, respectively.
For days on end Matthews gave us all the opportunity of dishing his Willie backed candidate, Charles Carpenter, and biggest advertiser of the pair that dared to have Matthews as a paid supporter.
Every other blog of Thaddeus Matthews dished Myron Lowery, a way behind second place finisher, but a finisher that beat Thad and Willie's candidate more than five to one, 16% to 3%. Three percent for Carpenter is pitiful. but then so is the candidate and his backer, your host, Thaddeus Matthews.

With Memphis being a color driven voting town you must take into consideration that the twenty African Americans falling alphabetically below Wharton aren't worth the powder it would take to blow them elsewhere.
Memphis does have some real decent professional African Americans that have opted out of politics. It's not hard to understand why when you consider the motley ones that have won elections in recent years.

In this race for Mayor of Memphis the "Golden Rule" applies. The money men are behind Mr. Wharton as they deem him to be the best choice to carry out THEIR agenda for the city. He has won their support and trust based on his actions in his role as the chief executive of Shelby county. In him they have found a charming and charismatic individual with administrative skills who shares their vision along with the added benefits of being rather "low key" and non-threatening. Quite the antithesis of the former mayor. Personally, i feel that Mr. Carpenter has the skill set, business savvy, foresight as well as the political acumen to make a wonderful mayor of Memphis; however, it will take a real Movement to overcome the immense financial/corporate and media interests that are stoked behind the campaign of Mr. Wharton. He who has the gold tends to make the rules unless the people en mass choose/demand otherwise. I don't see that happening this time around. Charles has my vote and support and that of those around me as his platform best represents the interests of the majority community in this city but it will probably be for naught. That's ok though. It's always best to choose right over might. AC will only serve a partial term and in those two years the community will be galvanized once they see what his agenda really represents. A power transfer back in the direction of the minority community.

Even though early voting has ended no one knows who got the most votes in early voting. Channel 3 and the CA is trying to influence the outcome of this election. The Thaddeus Matthews radio show today, Tuesday, sounds as if it is mimicking never, never land. I am convinced that if Carpenter would not have teamed up with Matthews he may have been right up there with Wharton.
Ok, let's look at only two of many reasons how Matthews may have alienated potential Carpenter voters.
1. Matthews has insulted and made insinuations about virtually every black pastor in the city of Memphis, thus alienating those congregations. Those people talk to their family and friends, conservativly that is at least 5 people. So that is 6 people times the 1000s that have a negative opinion of Matthews and everthing associated with him.
2. Matthews' behavior on his radio show is reprehensible. Yes, I listen and maybe that means I have bad taste. The bullying, name calling and overall disrespect of nearly everyone qualifies Matthews as a hater. Everyone hates haters.
Carpenter take this as a lesson learned. I understand Matthews may have been a way to get air time. Especially, since WDIA have cracked down on the self promoting that Wanda Halbert and Tajuan Stout-Mitchell took advantage of.
Like I have stated in previous posts here I would have given Carpenter serious consideration. But when it became clear that he was hanging his hat on Matthews I had to eliminate Carpenter as an option. Once again Carpenter learn your lesson and get ready for 2011.
11:18 PM, I really don't hate Carpenter per say, I just don't believe he is qualified to handle a city the size of Memphis, I truly believe with all my heart that he is inexperience and not ready for the task at hand, his ambition and intentions are noted, but it will take more than ambition and well intentions to run all the Municipality that govern our city every day, so his qualification are in question....and to be truly honest with you, Wharton if nominated, will have his work cut out for him, if he don't produce with results he won't be reelected either, we should keep his feet to the fire.. Because the Mayors office should not be confused with entitlement… produce results or lose your job...personally..among all the things this new mayor will have on his plate, Crime reduction will be at the very top, it goes hand in hand with business, education and jobs, Memphis image is toxic, the Mayor and the citizen must do all they can to change it.

AC just laid back and played it cool while Thaddeus and Charlie's no holds barred technique served only to galvanize the voters of Memphis against Charlie as they were given an opportunity to learn about the close association of Charlie and Willie as Thaddeus abetted Charlie's downfall in letting us tell it like it was in Charlie and Willies rip off of tax payer funds. Damn, Willie had his own big league players with the likes of Charlie Carpenter, Elbert Richardson, Joe Lee, Janis Hooks, Wade, Spence, Wilkins, Moon Mullins, Willie's body guards, etc.

The mayoral electon restored at least a portion of my faith in this city, particularly, the black community. When I see that a mayoral candidate who allowed himself to be promoted by the biggest racist and bigot in this city only receive 5% of the vote, it tells me that there are some decent black people out there who refuse to buy in to the Jackson, Sharpton, Matthews crap that they try to sell. They are nothing but race pimps and teh sooner the black community realize it and abandon these slugs, the better off we all will be.
Charles Carpenter lost the mayoral race because he could not motivate the huge political base of Willie Herenton to get solidly behind him.
With Herenton not running, his base disintegrated and Carpenter could not pull them back together in time to have a chance of winning. In addition, Herenton declined to publicly endorse Carpenter or any of the other candidates.
If Carpenter intends to challenge Wharton in 2011, he must build his own political base. If he fails to do this, not even Thaddeus Matthews can help him win anything.

There is no need to gloat. Carpenter is decent man that made the mistake of being Herenton's campaign manager the last two terms when it was clear that Herenton did not care anymore. Yes, Wharton was the manager for the 2nd and 3rd terms but at that time Herenton was still considered somewhat competent.
And of course, hooking up with Thad was an awful tactical move and waste of money. Thad really did not promote Carpenter. He was only against Wharton and Lowery. Calling people fat and Uncle Toms does not do anything to promote your candidate. Universal law dictates that you can go much further being for something rather than against something.

And, you should have included, your [Matthews] vulgar and pointless knocking of other candidates was the catalyst that opened the door for others to point out the many shortcomings of Charles Carpenter, Thug's advertiser.
Carpenter's failure to explain his part in the out of sight, you thought, out of mind, dealings of his and Willie's side rip off off tax payers while collecting big legal fees for services that were way over his head caused Carpenter to lose many votes and lots of the legal fees to finance his campaign that he collected from Willie Herenton and the Richardson Model Check Writer. Richardson will lose his job over all this, but then that was probably all that he was hired for, to facilitate Willie's schemes.
