Shelby County District Attorney Bill Gibbons who has refused to file charges against John Elkington who is reported to did away with at least $10 million dollars is trying to prove to White voters that he should be their choice for Governor by using a unused statue to go after City attorney Elbert Jefferson.
Gibbons who plans to attempt to oust Jefferson on a civil matter is stacking the deck by placing the matter in criminal court in the court room of one of his former employees Judge James Lammey. Lammey graduated from law school at the University of Memphis in 1989 and thereafter served as an Assistant District Attorney for over16 years. As an Assistant District Attorney, Judge Lammey served in the Major Violators Unit, the Violent Crimes Prosecution Unit and as a Division Leader responsible for supervising personnel and cases in Criminal Court. His primary responsibility was the prosecution of homicides.
What Lammey does not know is that there are those who are prepared to file motions against him with the Board of professional responsibility and any other state board that regulates the actions of judges on the bench who purposefully used their office to cause injustice.
Lammey as a former employee of Gibbons knows that he has a conflict in hearing a civil case in his criminal court brought to him by his former boss. This same group is also prepared to show that Gibbons on many occasions has refused to bring charges against personal friends such as the son of his friend attorney Richard Fields whose son molested his own 2 year old daughter according to the child. The child's mother and doctors. The group is prepared to show a copy of an investigated report from Gibbons office that states that the child was molested but because the father and mother were going through a divorce Gibbons office decided not to file charges.
Gibbons knows that he will not receive support for his bid for governor from the Black community so in a desperate haste is prepared to attempt to oust Jefferson when he has not ever used the statue to go after any other elected official. If Lammey is smart he will separate himself from Gibbons and this issue because it will surely come back to haunt him.

With Bill Gibbons injecting himself unnecessarily into the Elbert Jefferson case and even filing his ouster petition in the criminal court of one of his stooges, Judge James Lammey, we are witnessing the Shelby County Criminal Justice System collapsing under the weight of injustice. We already have the case of Ian Seivwright committing suicide because no one would investigate corruption in the sheriff's department. Despite a federal judge's order in United States v. Shelby County in 2002 to end abuses of inmates at Shelby County Jail and end serious overcrowding at the facility, inmates are still packed in the facility like sardines. We have a General Sessions Court judge who deliberately placed a black male defendant on fugitive status in a case that will eventually go national and scandalize Shelby County General Sessions Court and the judge involved. We have Chico Godwin telling MPD officers to evade search and seizure guidelines of the United States Supreme Court by informing residents that a 9-1-1 call originated from their residence so the police can enter unlawfully and then search and seize without a search warrant. Injustice just goes on and on in Memphis and Shelby County with no light at the end of the tunnel. And now Bill Gibbons, who is supposed to be protecting and defending the rights of citizens, is instead using his position to do just the opposite. The stench coming out of the district attorney's office is horrible to behold as this community takes one more step toward judicial chaos.

Meanwhile, the local NAACP, as expected, remains silent on the issue. In that article Mark Luttrel is quoted as saying that the District Attorney's Office advised the sheriff's department that a probe in the Ian Seivwright would be pointless. If Ian Seivwright was from a prominent familiy that was well connected, I think Bill Gibbons attitude would have been totally different. What the average White person has to learn is that they are in the same position as the average Black person. Those in power do not care about the average citizen. Mark Luttrell and others has tried to make this young man a liar. Everything that this young man had written in his suicide letter has panned out to be true. Jennifer Seivwright has admitted that she met Wing privately four times, including once in an apartment in south Shelby County, but she said they never had sex. Someone needs to ask Bill Gibbons why he didn't investigate this matter. His familiy needs to file a lawsuit against Wing and the Shelby County Sheriff's Office. The basis of the lawsuit would be that this young man went to his supervisor for help and instead of putting this young man in an Employee Assistant Program where he could get the mental help he needed, Wing used that information to get with the young man's wife. The court earlier had granted a motion allowing Seedco Financial, which had loaned $1.46 million to Lee’s Landing Commercial LLC, to start collecting rent on the property. The same order allowed Lee’s Landing Garage LLC to retain ownership.
There are plans to reopen Red Rooster at another location, according to a sign on the door as well as postings on the restaurants’ Facebook and MySpace pages.
“The Red Rooster is crowing about his new and better barnyard!” the sign reads on the door at the corner of Second Street and Lt. George W. Lee Avenue. “Watch for updates next week about our expansion and new locations!”
Attempts to reach Red Rooster representatives were not successful.
Andy Kitsinger, vice president of planning and development for the Center City Commission, said the owners of Red Rooster could not reach an agreement on renegotiated lease payments.
“Red Rooster, I understand, was financially viable and making it work under their previous terms, but couldn’t make it work with the new offers,” Kitsinger said.
Beaten path
The Red Rooster follows other restaurants that have closed or left Downtown.
Encore, a bistro in Peabody Place, served its last meal the same week the Red Rooster closed. Other Downtown restaurants and bars that have closed recently include LoLo’s Table, Pat O’Brien’s and a Starbucks.
Restaurants have also closed in other parts of the city. Bruno’s now has a for lease sign in the window at its Midtown location on Madison Avenue.
“Restaurants have actually been feeling it for a while,” Kitsinger said. “The economy has hit restaurants hard nationally. You know, a lot of people have been eating at home … and going out less to restaurants.”
Mike Miller, the president of the Memphis Restaurant Association, said he thinks the worst might be over for restaurants, as new ones open to replace those that have closed. For instance, South of Beale just opened Downtown. Existing ones, such as the Happy Mexican, are branching out with new locations.
“My general sense of it is that earlier in the year was definitely when we saw a lot of closings,” Miller said. “This comes from talking to liquor representatives who sell to people as well as other vendors, and personal knowledge. It seems to me that, even though there are restaurants continuing to close, it has slowed down.”

The Downtown corner where the giant bird once stood in front of his restaurant and bar is now a vacant space. A sign posted on the door states an announcement is coming soon about a new location.
Several Downtown restaurants have closed during the prolonged recession, but the departure of this one involves the bankruptcy issues of its landlord. The Red Rooster closed after a judge dismissed the bankruptcy case of Lee’s Landing Commercial LLC.
The Red Rooster closed the same week the Chapter 11 bankruptcy case of Lee’s Landing Commercial was officially closed and dismissed.
Three entities have Lee’s Landing in their names, according to the court documents. Lee’s Landing Garage LLC is the ownership entity for the block-long development near Beale Street. Lee’s Landing Commercial, which filed for bankruptcy, had control over a portion of that space. A third entity called 140 Lee’s Landing LLC operated the Red Rooster restaurant through a sublease.

Well, the Ian Seivwright suicide case has finally trickled over to the mainstream media in a big way, making it to The Commercial Appeal's October 3 edition on the front page. Perhaps the CA felt guilty about not giving this story the space it deserved much earlier,or maybe they are furious that the story had such a big impact on the Thaddeus Matthews website while they were left out in the cold by ignoring it. Maybe now significant others in the media will see the light and realize we have an enormous problem of injustice in law enforcement as well as our corrupt criminal justice system.

The National Bar Association, composed nationwide of black attorneys and black judges, has criticized Pro Tom Mayor Myron Lowery for unfairly targeting black attorneys and black law firms in dealing with city transactions. The Eyewitness News report revealed what the Thaddeus Matthews website has reported all along, that white lawyers and white law firms have received far more money from the city than the lone black law firm of Ricky Wilkins. And how did the Fat Man of Memphis respond to this damning report? He stated that race was not an issue in exclusively targeting black lawyers for "exorbitant" charges to the city. Say what? There was no hearing as scheduled on October 6, but Gibbons used his stooge,Judge James Lammey, to perfection in stripping Jefferson of his city attorney duties until October 19 when Elbert is to enter the meatgrinder. Eyewitness News is reporting that Elbert Jefferson and his lawyer have agreed for Jefferson to be suspended from his position as city attorney until Oct. 19 when in Judge James Lammey's courtroom of horrors, Bill Gibbons can sink his fangs into the scapegoat black attorney. All charges against Jefferson would apparently be dropped if he could somehow deliver to Gibbons the greedy ass of Robert Spence and the obnoxious head of Willie Herenton, the real target of the plantation boss.
The comments in the Commercial Appeal WWW site today in regards to Willie's vacation pay were 100% against him. Not surprised as those in favor of Willie probably can't read, much less afford the Commercial Appeal. We all know that sharing is something Willie never did unless it was a free T shirt for a vote. The way it looks to me is that none of the candidates would want him in city hall in their administration except maybe Charles Carpenter for the purpose of keeping him quiet. You can bet that Egbert is nervous as he knows he's not worth a crap as an attorney in the private sector. First we had Joe Lee writing checks for the benefit of Willie, then Egbert. What next?
Egbert and Willie were not pikers. They dealt in nice size fractions of millions while letting the rest have maybe a free cell phone.
Could you think of anything worse than having Elbert Jefferson as your attorney. OKAY, maybe it could be worse if you had Charles Carpenter or Javier Bailey representing you.
At the first City Council meeting following the election, there will be a line of black people waiting at the back of council chambers to kick Myron Lowery's ass. They will have to take a number. At the front of the line will be Robert Spence, followed by Willie Herenton, Ricky Wilkins,Joseph Lee, Elbert Jefferson, and the temporary city workers.
Myron had better come prepared for an ass-kicking that will go well into the night. And former boss Jack Sammons can do nothing to help him.
Soon sick Egbert will run out of sick leave with the result that he will oust himself. Then we can all just sit back and be ready to laugh at the next city attorney that comes in a long line of misfit lackeys that have waited on Willie Herenton to pull another stunt.
Reading some of these comments makes me sad, I can not believe how black people think everytime a black person does something wrong and get caught, the white people are out to get them, how about trying to do what is right. Black people have complained all their life about how and what white people are doing, but when we got jobs in power we are doing much worse then whites have ever done, example this city is a total mess, and guest what in the hands of black leadership. Who in there right mind does not believe Jefferson should not be terminated, the only sad thing is the other appointee's were not included. I have never read this website before and this will be my last time, who can believe anything Thaddeus write, this is the same man that sat out infront of City Hall trying to get Herenton recalled, now they are friends. And who would believe any documents sent/signed by anyone working in City Hall on Herentons behalf. I see they bring trash to the trash can.

Maybe he really is not a "guy". I can't imagine any of the mayoral candidates that wins the upcoming election wanting or trusting this individual.
Elbert can open up a one man office as this is his right. It's also hard to imagine any decent law firm wanting this weak sister within their practice. Maybe that's why Richardson is willing to make a public ass out of himself. What gives?
Is the economic situation so bad that a person would set himself up for eating, you know what, when the government is out there ready to feed you for your vote provided you are a democrat or an illegal immigrant ready to join the ranks of free loading democrats?
Gibbons has my vote, if for no other reason than the fact he might be trying to clean up the mess left in City Hall by Richardson, Carpenter, Joe Lee and King Willie Herenton.
Isn't it strange that after we had all of those public officials in Memphis indicted for criminal activity the past several years, Bill Gibbons did not seek to have any of those crooks removed from office. Elbert Jefferson has not been indicted for anything, yet he faces this strange ouster petition from a plantation boss whose motives are suspect at best. It should be obvious that Gibbons is trying to give Uncle Tom Myron Lowery and Boss Crump Jack Sammons some kind of victory before the special mayoral election, using his stooge, Judge James Lammey, as his tool for Lowery's and Sammons' dirty work. And this is the man who would be governor. No way!
