Thad, I was watching channel 3 news on Friday and they did a story on how some of the candidates were providing rides to the polls. Then they interviewed Jackson Baker and he said that would not do any good. They mentioned the White Haven area. Why is channel 3 so concerned about voter turnout. Why is a news organization trying to discourage voter turn out in the Black Community. It is not a news story that candidates have been supplying transportation to the polls. In the Black Community Black politicians have been supplying transportation for years. Isn't channel 3 the one that had that poll conducted that shows AC the winner even though not one of your listeners Black or White has called in and stated that they participated in that poll. Maybe the election commission do not like the numbers that are coming out of the Black Community and also the fact that you are encouraging people to vote for Mr. Carpenter. With your show you are showing the people that they have the power. The power brokers may have the money but the citizens of Memphis has the vote. At the next debate somebody needs to ask Myron why he wants to pick on the tempory workers. If he is so concerned about saving the City money then he need to go after the money that John Elkington owes the City.
I don't get hung up on perfection, but Integrity once one get in this position is a must. One thing we must not forget is when we hire our new Mayor to do a job, he must do it or we can fire his ass and get someone else to do the job, we must not get hung up on giving any of our officials a pass if he or she is doing a lousy job, Remember they are working for us, what really concerns me is getting a Mayor who won't move this city in the right direction, a strong city is a city with jobs, a city who's crime rate is way down...to me Memphis is our bread and butter and a good image is a must,is any of these candidiates progessive enough cause growth to our Home;Memphis.
